I lost my boyfriend to his battle with depression two weeks ago today. He used to play this every chance he got because he loved it that much. Just remembering how happy he looked listening to this made me come back to stream it now and I can’t hold back the tears. I’m so glad I have another memory of him through this song.
I’m sorry for your loss I’m glad he had you for a moment in his life someone who cared about him and still do may his memory always live on when you hear this song God bless you and him
Man, I can't believe it! It's been 17 years. This song came out back when I was in highschool and looking back I feel so lucky that I had such cool music to shape me. I don't think that I'd be the man that I am without this. Thank you, guys, wherever you are!

Just so everyone knows that skater in this video is Mark Gonzales. He is a legendary skater who's skating pioneered the way skaters skate today. Everyone should look up his parts. As you can see from this video, his skating is an art form in itself

this song is beautiful. I rode my motorcycle down Pacific Coastal today and had this on repeat as the sun set. It captures the essence of California so well.
First heard this when I was about 13. I’m turning 23 now, and suffering from bpd. This song brings me back to when I was 13, just a innocent kid who didn’t know life was gonna get so hard. It’s bittersweet to look back, wish I could stay 13 forever. Although I have days that are harder then others I reflect to this song and know we’re all just trying our best to be someone or something in this world. 🖤
Bpd is a hard hard thing... coming from someone with about 10 years more under my garbage belt I want to tell you it doesn't get better, but my ability to cope with the rot around me better in just a few years, it's what's kept me alive. I hope you can build up your coping skills and mechanisms to deal, it's all we've got. It's been worth it for me, or for those I love to not have to bury me at such an early age. That's how I look at things, would doing this hurt them? So that is who or what I am in this world... I hope it's good enough but who knows.... wishing you all the positive vibes that one can wish... ✌️🫶
I was born & raised in California but have lived on the east coast for the past almost 30 years. I'm a single mom with 1 child. When my daughter was about to go off to college in Los Angeles, we played that song in the car and I started to cry while singing it. She's away at college now, and when it comes up in my queue I still cry because I'm missing her, missing the West Coast.
This is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s just such a beautiful and underrated song, it helped me through a really hard time in my life.
This song brings back memories of growing up in Malibu, loving every moment of life, and being with friends. The older you get, the more you realize humanity has found a way to complicate life. This song will give anyone nostalgia for a time full of love, joy, and happiness. It’s a lovely tune 🙌
@@Stridewisetrue. I told my friend Doug (we share music back and forth) to send me some good shit I don’t know. He’s done a great job so far in my life. ❤ The last song was “First” by Cold War Kids. I’m 43 and still find new music and it’s so awesome.

My boyfriend who lived in socal at the time (me from norcal) would play this everyday on our facetime calls while he drove to work and when he'd drive back to the airport to head home. The suitcase part really hit home when we got to the airport and I had to watch him walk away and head to the plane. This song made our long distance relationship at the time easier for me. Now when I hear it or listen to it it brings back really good memories of our beginning together and reminds me of how far we've come with our life together. This song is probably our most special song.
Love this song! I'm in radio and heard it for the first time on a Delta Flight from Atlanta to LA back in 2006. It never became a huge hit (which amazes me). But it pops up every now and then. Like last night while grocery shopping. Boom! There it was playing over the speakers in the store. It brought me right back to that ATL to LA flight. I love hidden Gems!!

Today, August 13th, 2014, My incredibly beautiful and amazing girlfriend and I have made this "our song." You're gorgeous Ashley, I can't wait to see you. I'll be home in a few weeks.
i’ve literally listened to this song since forever and i recently rediscovered it and i wanted to listen to more music so literally 5 min ago i searched them up on spotify and i see a picture of jason schwartzman and my face literally went 😮😮😮. i am in love with him. and he is one of my fav actors (i just watched scott pilgrim in theaters yesterday and just 😍😍 everytime he was on the screen) and i was just so shocked he sang one of my fav songs ever.
i was in love with this song for years but havent heard it in years. this was my song ages 9-12 now im 15 writing this from rehab for suicide attempts. things were so different more simple and confused. im turning 16 in a week and for some reason this song has started playing on repeat, it hurts. have a nice day i wish you the best.
This song always remind me one of my best Friends, we used to hang in town together with a group of Friends, we have been to events, party, we've met each other family, we even went camping outdoors with our friends like a cliche teen movie I'm turning 23 in a few days, we were not seeing each other very much these last few times and this year he just took his own life I always feel like i'm gonna see him around on his longboard whenever i go in town, so when i just miss him a bit to much i buy some flower and flourish his grave, that's my way of spending time with him now, and this song that always make me think about him You survived your atempts to take your life, take this chance to be happy, you're only 15, you still have so much to live for, like outdoor camping :) You matter budy
@@Bararonx Thank you for bringing me back to this song:) i have been doing a lot better lately and i made it to 16! im very sorry for your loss and i hope you can bring him flowers soon im sure he was and still is very loved. my struggles haven't dissapered but i found ways to keep myself a float and have now been out of rehab and hospitals for 8 months! thank you for your kind words and weirdly enough outdoor camping with my best friend and boyfriend has become a go to and genuienly makes me happy to still be around. if anyone else struggling is reading this i'll say it doesnt get better immediatly it takes work but when you can find good days and simple joys it feels worth it i love you

[Verse 1]
For a second there, I thought you disappeared
It rains a lot this time of year
And we both go together if one falls down
I talk out loud like you’re still around
[Chorus]
And I miss you
I’m going back home to the west coast
I wish you would have put yourself in my suitcase
I love you
Standing all alone in a black coat
I miss you
I’m going back home to the west coast
[Verse 2]
And if you shake her heart enough, she will appear
Tonight, I think I'll be staying here
And you never did like this town
I talk out loud like you’re still around
[Chorus]
And I miss you
I’m going back home to the west coast
I wish you would have put yourself in my suitcase
I love you
Standing all alone in a black coat
I miss you
I’m going back home to the west coast
[Verse 3]
So pack up the bags to beat back the clock
Do I let her sleep or should I wake her up?
You said we both go together if one falls down
Yeah right, heh
I talk out loud like you’re still around
[Chorus]
And I miss you
I’m going back home to the west coast
I wish you would have put yourself in my suitcase
I love you
Standing all alone in a black coat
I miss you
I’m going back home to the west coast
I’m going back home to the west coast

Positivity with nuggets of nostalgia, comfort and compassion. Peace all.
I still remember being in grade 6 and hearing this song on Sirius xm alternative station. I’d leave my TV set to that station to hear this song as often as I could.

Something about this is pure yearning INNOCENCE. Skater boy, too. Love. Thank you.
i was in love with this song for years but havent heard it in years. this was my song ages 9-12 now im 15 writing this from rehab for suicide attempts. things were so different more simple and confused. im turning 16 in a week and for some reason this song has started playing on repeat, it hurts. have a nice day i wish you the best.
You are loved.
This song always remind me one of my best Friends, we used to hang in town together with a group of Friends, we have been to events, party, we've met each other family, we even went camping outdoors with our friends like a cliche teen movie
I'm turning 23 in a few days, we were not seeing each other very much these last few times and this year he just took his own life
I always feel like i'm gonna see him around on his longboard whenever i go in town, so when i just miss him a bit to much i buy some flower and flourish his grave, that's my way of spending time with him now, and this song that always make me think about him
You survived your atempts to take your life, take this chance to be happy, you're only 15, you still have so much to live for, like outdoor camping :)
You matter budy
