    Thanks so much for all the cool ideas in the comments! I am seeing some negativity towards Mojang and I want to remind you all to try and keep it constructive! They work very hard to make the game awesome for us. 💖 Keep in mind it's only a snapshot and everything is a work in progress, and everything in the video is just my personal opinions and feedback. 🙂
    Keep these amazing suggestions coming, I am having so much fun reading them.

      @@woofwoof3d starting players will be able to get armor and elytra’s quickly enough to raid all nearby bastions from portals, if dedicated enough they can fly quicker than any land bound starters. There’s no other quick way to travel in the nether, ice bridges would be made by the early players so no untouched bastions would be near them. As a new player you’d have to travel untouched terrain for thousands of blocks on foot because they probably are gate keeping flight as well. Also people can use seed maps to not miss a single one. Yes you are technically right that it’s still possible, however difficult that may be, to get one yourself. But by that point it’s probably better to just pay whatever cost people are selling them by. And by selling I mean upgrading your armor for you or making sure you can’t duplicate or leave with one on you.

    • @bubbledog12
      @bubbledog12 Год назад +33

      Doesn’t matter if they’re gatekeeping flight or not if the server is busy enough you’ll have to spend hours looking for one anyways.

  • @onionturtle3295
    @onionturtle3295 8 месяцев назад +64

    I think something that would make some sense lore wise is to still require you to go to bastions, but functional as a different thing completely. One thing that’s always bugged me is that this infernal metal that is completely fire proof and immune to molten rock can be smelted in your furnace and crafted on gold.
    My idea is to scrap the netherite upgrade and make it so rarely in bastions you can find an internal forge, like a blast furnace but with textures of ancient debris that only Piglins know how to make. You would have to fill it with lava and fuel it with blaze powder to turn scraps(now directly dropped from debris) into netherite after adding gold. Then the same tough smelting process would be needed to coat your armor with netherite.
    This would need a very large amount of blaze powder, giving it more use, and additionally the intense heat would have a small chance to cause an explosion, which doesn’t break blocks or itself, but can cause a lot of damage and burn your house if you’re not careful, which adds more character to the process as you’ll ideally build like a forge area for it.

      I like the idea, it makes Netherite seem like a real boss. I think, however, the main purpose for the Netherite Upgrade is to increase diamond's worth sadly 😓. Maybe Netherite Ingots should be an alloy between gold, diamonds, and scraps that youd have to put in the furnace to make ingots then coat onto your armor.

    Diamond need to be more usable, in terms of crafting usage, diamond is less useful than iron. Diamonds are primarily used to make diamond tools and armor, which are the strongest and most durable tools and armor in the game (netherite is just a upgrade that make more stronger). However, these items are not necessary for most gameplay and can be replaced with iron tools and armor, which are more easily obtainable and still provide adequate protection and efficiency. Iron is also used to make a wider variety of items such as rails, minecarts, and buckets. Additionally, diamonds can be used to make certain enchanting items, but iron can also be used to make anvils, which are essential for enchanting items.

    • @LaughingLegoBrick
      @LaughingLegoBrick Год назад +162

      1. Diamonds are not the strongest material, the strongest material is netherite which does use diamonds but still is considered another ore
      2. Iron can't be used to create an enchantment table

    Edit: To clarify I wasn’t just complaining about the name, I was complaining that the item doesn’t feel like it’s an actual item. I’d love to see an end/final dimension update much like the cave update. Completely overhaul how the islands are generated, add some new structures (maybe include a new end stronghold that has a key item needed for the ancient city portal…) and add a new end animal. Perhaps a chorus tree with a dull purple wood color with magenta leaves that have a slight glow? Think azalea leaves but magenta with little chorus flowers sprinkled around. Oh and add a craftable backpack that increases your inventory space by 2 bars.

    Imagine a Smithing Table designed around discovering blueprints for various upgrades to your equipment; the blueprints themselves are never consumed, but provide a step-by-step guide on what materials to add to an item via the smithing table in order to get the upgrade.
    For netherite armor, you'd need to:
    Find the blueprints
    Go to a smithing table with the armor and blueprints
    Apply diamonds (equal to the amount used to make the diamond item)
    Apply magma cream
    Apply netherite ingot
    And done.
    It'd even be able to support more upgrades.
    Want water breathing? Use glass, slime, and turtle scutes.
    Want the effects of leather armor in snow on normal armor? Use wool, string, and leather.
    Want a basic buff? Use string, iron nuggets, and chainmail armor.

    I also feel like netherite just isn’t endgame. Endgame for me personally is stuff like shulkers and elytra. They are locked behind the end boss. The armor customization is cool, but needing extra items to upgrade to netherite just doesn’t feel right. One thing I would love to see implemented is an endgame armor post dragon, using something like cosmic debris found in the outer end islands and dragon scales that are dropped from the dragon or found near fossil structures buried in the end islands. This would be more end game and give the barren end wasteland more of a purpose and more of a resource gathering role. Also cosmic debris should be used to upgrade the elytra for more durability and like a half of an armor unit of defense. Dragon scale gear would be cool as heck.
    Edit: Cosmic debris is found and smelted to refined cosmic scraps. They are then combined with dragon scales dropped by the dragon or found rarely near cosmic debris deposits. The final product is a dragon scale alloy, which is combined with netherite for dragon scale gear.

      I've had this idea for a new endgame end resource for armor crafting for awhile now. Imagine the mechanics of the void in the end are reworked. Instead of a set amount of tick damage at a certain negative y level, you instead get increasing blindness (like when the warden spawns) and increasing tick damage the further down you go. Then, put small islands at varying levels just below this damage threshold, with islands lower down (more dangerous) having a higher chance of spawning the ore. This way, getting the resource would be a genuine challenge for endgame players, requiring significant potion prep to survive in the void whilst mining the resource. Make the resource require netherite to mine as well and make it take about as long as obsidian to keep things stressful. Also, doing this would make the elytra a must to land and leave the islands quickly, though im sure more skilled players could find other ways. Maybe make this resource craft armor when combined with dragon scales as you suggest and also have some kind of tool that can be crafted as well. I would imagine some kind of unique effect on these tools and armor, similar to how netherite cannot be burnt. 100% make the helmet give you immunity to enderman, but that isnt strong enough. I think the coolest possible feature of this new armor would be a pair of wings with armor attached. Give it the appearance of dragon wings since scales are used in the recipe and make it require an elytra to craft.

      surelly, it was a great idea! adding 5, 10, 20 more hours of mind numbing grind in order to upgrade one single tool. You would previously have been fully stacked with netherite at that point. All the time it takes you to run through thousands of blocks in the nether, trying to find a bastion with the upgrade on it, and then farming about 60 more diamonds to be fully maxed. It's just a way to artificially increase the effort you need to get a netherite tool. For the armorr trim templates I see the recipe's lore as the diamonds being the carving tool to etch out the place where those materials should be lined up and the material block in the center as the cast's back board, as if the player is pressing the templates' pattern into the material for new material to be added. This could imply that netherite is being stuck as a layer on top the diamond armor, attached in plates (maybe by rivets) as shown by the texture, instead of being infused to the diamond armor itself. So the netherite upgrade is merely an item that punches holes into your diamond armor for a layer of netherite plating to be riveted on top. Maybe the netherite provides shock absorbption and heat resistance to the armor but it has little to no hardness by itself which is why it needs the diamond armor as a base and it only adds less than 50 additional durability. My only proof of this theory is that netherite armor has plates but diamond does not so it doesn't make sense for it to be infused and change into something plated unless the plating goes on top of the armor rather than netherite infused into it.

    Star dust is actually a nice idea. This item would help the game overall. For example, it could be used in brewing, for, I don't know, luck potions (for those who don't know, that effect exists in Java minecraft, but is unused), maybe it could be used to duplicate armor trims, as diamonds are relatively cheap, or for crafting end crystals (again, if you don't know, they can be crafted, but I think the recipe is too cheap). It could also used for removing curses from items (It would probably use like 10 levels and have a like 50% chance to destroy the item and turn into something, probably, glowstone instead removing the curse, as that would be too owerpowered), but while removing the curse, it will get cursed itself and turn into a completely new item, that again, could be used for potions such as blindness (that would probably be an overhaul to PvP). I might have gone too far, but it could also be used to make glowing armor trims, as it makes more sense than a glow ink sac or to craft experience bottles. Also, but as grindstones were kinda forgotten since 1.14, it would be cool if you could craft a nether star into dust with a grindstone instead of a crafting table, as you can't craft it back, unlike most (yes, sugar, I know) powders.

    a cool consept I made is where theres a Nether Eye, crafted with magma cream surrounding an eye of ender that works as an eye of ender, for a nether structure used with Nether Bricks, well the brighter version idk what they are called, and they contain an ancient scroll that turns your armor to netherite, at the cost of it having random enchants, (excluding curses), that cannot be removed in a grindstone, however you can use a netherite ingot and a grindstone in an anvil to create an Advanced Grindstone, which can remove curses, custom names, and even armor trims

      It's not a nerf, they are making it more expensive to justificate the power, also now you are obligated to EXPLORE a bastion because what Mojang wants is to improve the EXPLORATION, not just loking for a village, making a farm and quiting the game, they wanto you to look for diamonds, not just trade an armor from a villager.
      Why netherite would need a buff being that easy to get?, it would ruin the game, you get diamond armor in nothing and then you go to the nether and 10 minutes later you would have full netheriute and you would kill rapidly the ender dragon and then you quit the game, and start a new one

    You would find the Ancient Glue (to continue with the "ancient" part of the netherite) in bastions, but it wouldn't work as a bonder yet.
    You would have to combine it with 4 blaze rods in the corners (we know these work as fuel, and blazes are fire resistant, so it'd make sense) and 4 magma cream around the Ancient Glue (again, the magma cubes are fire resistant, and the magma cream is used for fire resistance potions).
    After that you would be able to use the Magmatic Glue as a bonder for upgrading diamond to netherite gear)

    the netherite upgrade smithing template thing feels very tacked on (because it is) and just clunky. I don’t like the duplicating mechanic either (yes i know servers would run out of un looted bastions) so what i think should be the process is going to a bastion and mining the gilded black stone and when surround the gilded black stone with 4 diamonds you would get the netherite upgrade template. This would give gilded blacks tone a use and it can be rare but if you’re looking for it then you’ll find it. they could also make piglin brutes drop gilded black stone and the smithing template RARELY! This would feel a lot better than some chest loot which i think the bastion already has a great balance of it!

  • @x_vulpine
    @x_vulpine 3 месяца назад +4

    Honestly, your criticism are kinda dumb.
    The Netherrite Upgrade template encourages exploration. It forces you to explore the nether - and really explore, not just stripmine for ancient debris - which adds to Minecraft's progression. And adding to progression in a game where the community constantly complains that there is too little is great.
    Your main points of critique are:
    - The texture is weird
    - The name tells you exactly what it does and doesnt require you to read three wiki pages first
    - It doesnt have lore (in a game that is notorious for its rich lore /s)
    - It uses netherrack and diamonds
    The diamonds, again, add to the progression. You can get diamond tools and armor without ever seeing a mine and Mojang knows that players will go crazy if they remove that. So they instead added diamonds to the recipe forcing you to actually mine for it. Which, again, adds to progression.
    Requiring a nether star is absolutely insane seeing as how difficult to obtain these are. Optimal wither skeleton farms require a nether fortress within a soul sand valley which is rare. Suboptimal farms take ages to get three skulls - even with looting III - and the require to spawnproof huge areas which is not fun. Its a chore. Trying ot get skulls without is even more of a chore.

    2). These duplicates/duplicating system doesn't make Netherite harder to obtain. It just makes it more expensive. They should do away with the tablets but instead have a loom-type smithing table where you add your armor/tools, any upgrades (like Netherite), and the material which gives you a list of possible trims. To make netherite harder to obtain, they should've just reworked the crafting recipe. Instead, maybe do 7 netherite scraps, 1 nether star, 1 magma cream. That way it's harder to craft an ingot because you now have to go though countless Wither skeletons, Withers, and the process of grinding/finding/exploring more debris/netherite/scraps. by adding 3 extra scraps to the recipe, that results in 27 extra scraps/debris to the cost of a full set of armor+tools. This guy is just yapping lmao netherite upgrade is fine and it’s gonna make the developers remove it instead of addressing real problems lol.

    As if Netherite wasn't already enough of a pointless grind, why would they add this?
    They should be expanding Minecraft's progression system and adding actual content worth using Netherite on, not adding worthless steps to get it

    I've never had a video I've agreed with so much more. Thank you for bringing your ideas to a video, and your video is amazing. It makes me feel like my own thoughts are being heard

    I think Armor trims and netherite upgrades should have a durability of 4. You get 4 uses and then they break. For netherite this means you need more diamonds to also upgrade tools or you have to raid at least 2 bastions or get lucky with the bastion. Needing to raid a different structure over and over is annoying and 7 diamonds per armor piece is quite steep too. Being able to do one set of armour would make the rarity of trims and diamonds much less cumbersome.

    It’s a shame that that is how it ended and it wasn’t changed at all between initial implementation and final release, I really hope they fix it for 1.21

    If you ask me, the only way they could improve the netherite upgrade would be to remove it. Ancient debris is so hard to find compared to the rarity of diamonds (which was for standard maxed out equipment years ago). We don't need to keep making equipment harder and harder to obtain, I think a better addition would be an alternative upgrade path from diamond, perhaps an ender ore of some sort that is equivalent to netherite in most ways.

    It would be cool if mojang did more of those snapshots where they just throw in a random feature and see what the community thinks, without necessarily keeping it in the official update
