  • In this video, we're going to compare the Moogerfooger MIDI Murf hardware pedal to the Moogerfooger software VST version. Here you can listen to some of the similarities, as well as the differences between the two and decide which one you prefer.
I was pretty intrigued when @MoogMusicInc recently announced their whole new versions of software MoogerFooger VST's. I'm a big fan of their hardware. I've got pretty much all of them and I dig their design, largeness, functionality, history and not least .... that low, down dirty, angry yet gooey and juicy sound.
This video is basically just a subjective demo of the hardware guitar pedal, the MIDI Murf MF105M vs it's new VST software version.
These VSTs were sponsored by @Gear4musicSynthsTech

I'll be doing the other MoogerFoogers in other videos. It's gonna be a bunch of fun.

Good vid. Every time I think I should just stick with the software version and sell both my midi murfs, I plug my DFAM into them and realize they’re a match made in heaven & actually playing the hardware version has the direct tactile connection of a live instrument, which makes me get creative with it, but the software just gets programmed and left there.

Nice video! I have had The pedal for more than 11 years and there is a Big difference with The soft one. But, in a mix with another instruments...nobody could tell the difference.

Would like to. But my Phaser is non-functional at the moment. I'm still trying to find a place to get it repaired in Copenhagen.... Guess that's one thing about hardware, that isn't a problem for software, right?

Listening on the phone, just high mids and the difference is quite huge. You can push hardware to max without ears bleeding.

Sure.... I still think the software has its place though. Has the flavor

Nice work! But if I'm looking for a software effect/instrument, I would consider the extra sonic possibilities rather then worry about that last 1% of not-so-authentic sound versus the hardware.
Let alone the price-tag. Anyway: it's good to know. Thanks!!👍

Totally agree. I think both vst and hardware has its sound, and both are useful in each their way... I did the comparison in order to know what each sounded like. Make sense?

Well, i think that they all have that flavor of moog-ishness. Can't really say that there is a best. It's all just different colors to paint with, right?

yeah not even moog can model their hardware
