In today’s video we will be unboxing the new Retroid Pocket 3 plus from Retroid I know there has been mixed feelings about how Retroid has gone about this release and a good few people feel like they have been cheated somehow..and I definitely get that man.
But let’s do the unboxing of the Retroid pocket 3 plus and see what it’s all about shall we.

I agree its pretty crappy that they released this 3 months after the RP3 but I'm glad it exists and it is a major upgrade from the RP3 on processing power. The hardware is great and a huge upgrade from the RP2 and RP2+

@@SonicLoveEmulation 100% agree with that. Imagine in 2020 when the RP2 came out thinking we could do all this for $150!? I would have laughed.

Totally agree that L2 and R2 should absolutely be angled down a bit, just like the Switch.
Would be a lot more comfortable

Also alien isolation is a new one I got and runs very well on the 3 plus
Check the speakers are wired up in reverse, these retroid 3 plus’s have speakers wired incorrectly from the factory. Play a phase sound test on RUclips and you might find they need reversing and it will be a lot louder and have more bass

I'll definitely consider buying a RG505 I actually want a Nintendo Android PSP too, to go alone with my Nintendo Android PS Vita (Odin Pro).

I ordered mine back on November 9th, and I still havent gotten any updates on my shipment. It says on the RP3+ page that shipments were supposed to start on the 18th of this month which has come and gone. :P
Am I alone here? I haven't heard any news or anything on anybody else getting their shipment information or units unless they are reviewer units.
I waited a while for mine if that helps, but I do hope you get it soon as it’s a top handheld man
@@SonicLoveEmulation I have the og RP3 to hold me over as well as my other handhelds (the amazing Oden Pro included!) but still, the wait for a new toy always sucks, especially when you dont know when you're getting it :P
I got a shipping notice Monday
It might be down to colour ordered cause retroid mentioned there shipping clear purple 2 days after I got told that mines had been shipped.

My RP3+ is stuck in the hell that is the Royal Mail strike. At this point it's taken longer to reach me here in the UK than it did to get from China to the UK.

@@SonicLoveEmulation Mine finally arrived and I'm loving it. PPSSPP performance is amazing and even the Wii games I want to play run well when using the MMJR version of Dolphin.
Wow I am pretty amazed to see Alien Isolation running on this! I may have to grab one of these. I hope the GameCube Star Fox and Zelda games work on it.

it’s a wonderful handheld man and I have 100% positive thought that the rp4 will be out very soon…with how the 3+ came out so fast
@@SonicLoveEmulation - I predict the RP4 will be the same Chipset etc etc, except the screen will be 5.5 inches, and probably another Gig of Ram, with Android 12, BUT the layout of the buttons will change, maybe even the left analogue going back to above the Dpad, then we will have the same shell on the RP4+ but with a slightly better chipset again, maybe MediaTec Dimensity 900, the same as in the Odin Lite, is my guess.
The new retroid pocket releases makes me even more bummed google stadia was discontinued I retthink they would go well together
I have a Retroid 3 with the 3+ upgrade pcb. After finding the RG353p so easy to set up I'm having a tough job wrapping my head around Android!
If I can reset the internals I will do a set up guide for it man
Not to mention, if the PCB upgrade didn't scare you, Android should be a breeze.
So is this ready to go out of the box with preloaded games? And you just have to add games to your liking?
No sadly you do have to add your own roms

Hi I’ve just received a retroid 3 + and I can’t use physical buttons I can only use the touchscreen controls on the screen also some games are not on full screen any help would be appreciated thanx.
You have to go in to the settings and configure the buttons but the majority will already be set up
I am still undecided between this, the Anbernic RG 505, Odin series and Logitech G Cloud. I want all of them but can’t afford all of them at once lol
I know so spoiled for choice, and with the new pimax portable to if you not see it check out taki’s new video on it
For what it's worth here's my take because I was very close to spending the money for the G Cloud. For me it came down to three major issues.
1. Are the trigger and shoulder buttons stacked or in-line. We are in a time now that there is absolutely no excuse to have in-line buttons anymore. Can you imagine if PS or Xbox controllers were in-line. People would freak out and talk about how bad they are. The Ambernic devices are so outdated it's strange to me that people still buy them.
2. Will it emulate up to Dreamcast and N64 flawlessly.
3. Will it HDMI out to use as a consoles at home and handheld on the go.
The only one that does all three is the RP3+. I will admit the G Cloud was very tempting because of the massive high quality screen. And LG is not new to quality peripherals. Anyhow hope that helps.

Does anyone know if the black version of the RP3+ is a finger magnet?
No i think when people turn the devices over to the back, they seem to be shiny, i am guessing no, shouldn't be.
Of course the screen will pick up every finger mark in the world on it LOL
I have the black RP3 and assuming they're identical it is fine, I have never had that issue with it

Is there any input lag when emulating? I know that is always a complaint I have when plugged into a tv with a retro pie. Curious if these have similar issues.
I did not notice any of there is it’s very minimal But I found it to be very good
@@SonicLoveEmulation Did you also Bluetooth a controller when you were set up with the HDMI out? I'm curious because I intend to use mine as a console at home and a handhle on the go. I have the 8Bitdo Pro II for when I'm in console mode.

Well I'm officially done with this brand. I received my RP3 and it worked for a few weeks(under 30 days) and the screen died. I was given two choices, $10 or they will send me a screen and I can figure it out on my own. Wait for the KT R1 or something else. Don't buy Retroid products if they can't even stand behind them for 30 days of light use(Under 10 hours). I have bought every one of their products too. Never had an issue. I have a video on my channel showing the dead screen as well as the email they sent me.

Can the charging cable be used to connect it to a PC (for file transfer to the SD card)?

I would wait for reviews. A 4k small screen seems like a huge power sink for little gain.

Well, actually this has two negatives for me, screen is to small and its android only.
Now Im familiar with emulation on android, its what I started with (well.. Symbian actually.. Look that up if you dont know ☺️) and familiar with front ends too for a better look but its still not the same.. its gotta be able to run Linux distro or forget it.
I agree it’s nice android don’t get me wrong but totally agree with you Linux is just a better overall experience I think
Retroid should consider a Retroid XL line/series. A 7 inch screen Retroid Pocket.
I personally prefer screens 4 inch to 6 inch. But my wife's eyes get strained from staring, at small screen devices.

Yep, 7" sounds good.. Might have to alter the name from Retroid Pocket to Retroid backpack though lol
And defo linux based instead, or at very least dual boot option, that would depend on chipset I guess though.

Happens with some emulators sometimes
I believe that's a mapping setting for Retroid.

Yes it’s safe, and it was a little over 2 weeks for me picking the DHL shipping it was tracked to

There is one PS2 game that i would like to know, if it indeed runs full speed or not - Black (FPS) and i think one of the best on the system.
I have noticed no one has mentioned if it does run well or not, was half speed on my phone, and little less on the RP2+.

My device is the Lenovo Legion Y700 gaming tablet. It is 8.8 inches and is powered by the Snapdragon 870. I just got it this Dec 3 from China. AetherSX2, all hail the Blue Cube, is marvelous on this device. Black no issue. All of my PS2 games run on OpenGL graphics renderer. I did not touch anything on the emulator. The games just played just like it's on a PS2 console. Primal, however, has audio but no video on OpenGL but if you switch to Software graphics renderer it's normal again.

It's Just says 11/18 because they're still In the preorder phase of shipping orders. Everyone who pre-order their rp3+ first back In November still hasn't received theirs. But they are still shipping out and people have been receiving their order over the past few weeks. I ordered mines 12/15 and received notification that It shipped out yesterday with an ETA of 1/3/2023, granted I paid for DHL but even If you choose the less expensive option, you can still expect to see your order sometime In January depending on where you live!
One thing I hate is the long wait to get the handhelds I feel it’s getting worse also then when it ships it takes so long even if you pay the higher price for shipping
