  • Sudan's brutal civil war has left more than half the country's 24 million children in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Almost the entire child population is out of school.
Some 400 children between the ages of 3 and 18 are attending a child-friendly space at October North School in Gedaref, Sudan, where they can read, write, learn, play and be a child.
UNICEF Communication Manager Mira Nasser shares the stories of some the children. "Thanks to this child-friendly space and other child-friendly spaces supported by UNICEF across Sudan, children are learning how to adapt to new realities, gaining life skills and finding their voices among displacement, trauma and loss," she says.
