Paul Atreides (Suite) | Dune (Soundtrack) by Hans Zimmer

- Blessed by a majestic performance, Timothée Chalamet portrayal of Paul Atreides in "Dune" was intense, convincing and magnetic. Burdened by a deadly path designed for him, Paul is gradually shaped and reinforced by the numerous life-threatening tests posted to him. His musical theme, defined by a climax of electric guitars and female chanting, reflects his ability to overcome and the awakening of his superior powers.

The Dune soundtrack is the most Hans has ever Zimmered.

He said in an interview that before every recording session, they all stood in a circle and chanted “It’s Zimmerin’ time” for the runtime of the movie. That would explain why the soundtrack is so good.
@@georgeofhamilton now you ruin his day mate haha
Hans Zimmer is a magician, able to transport you into a whole new world, without you moving a centimeter.
"Traveling without moving"
Excellently said.
Hans Zimmer is secretly a guild navigator.
but going to the theater for a good movie worth it tho!
Oh he moved you alright, especially at an IMAX... with the bass vibrating the entire theater rocking you back and forth as the ship lifts off. Lol
"To begin your study of the life of Muad’Dib, then, take care that you first place him in his time: born in the 57th year of the Padishah Emperor, Shaddam IV. And take the most special care that you locate Muad’Dib in his place: the planet Arrakis. Do not be deceived by the fact that he was born on Caladan and lived his first fifteen years there. Arrakis, the planet known as Dune, is forever his place."
This movie MUST be watched in theatres.
I read this in the voice of the revered mother Gaius Helen Mohiam and i found this comment to be quite entertaining
-from the collected sayings of Muad'Dib by the princess Irulan
I first saw it on my home theater, but liked it so much I HAD to experience it in the theater. The sound and music are so well integrated with the visuals I wanted to experience the power as the music/sound/vibrations pierced the body.
absolutely.. not just because of music, but because if you watch it on a small screen, you don't get that immersive feeling.. ESPECIALLY during the dimly lit scene in the desert, which is dark but not too dark, it's just dim enough that you can see something, but your eyes are really trying hard to focus. You need a really high dynamic range TV or projector to be able to appreciate that scene.
Best theatre experience since Return of the King. I wish I saw it a second time.
Saw it twice in threaters but missed the IMAX :(
I hope I can manage to see it at an IMAX someday, sometime.
The best part about the movie was the soundtrack. Made watching it in the theatres such a fascinating and goosebump-y experience
Same here , i went a second time just for the OST on big Atmos speakers.
@@Eric.Poirier. Sameee. As soon as I came back from the theatres the first thing I did was go look for the osts.

Timeless music; it won't sound dated when people watch Dune 40 years from now.
If classical music is timeless to this day, it will be timeless way beyond 40 years

Ripples in the sand gave me such chills in theater. That whole scene is pure art especially when the vocals start and the swelling begins to a climax at 10:45. So intensely amazing!!
Melhor filme do ano!
You took the words out of my mouth. Something so pure and Powerful in those opening measures that just captivates you
I remember walking from some movie in cinema around two weeks after seeing Dune, I passed by other hall and I heard "Ripples in the sand" playing. Goosebumps instantly.
This wasn't a movie, this was a spiritual experience
what's the scene?
i could listen to Leaving Caladan till my dying days...
When those drums come in... so epic!!! :D
Yes!!!!!!!
Patrician taste. That track defines the word 'epic' for me.
Everyone's in here talking about how great the OST is whilst i'm over here thinking how awesome Timothee's hair looks.
Carefully directed by Villeneuve. He said it once that of the most difficult thing to direct was Timothée's hair. "That thing is alive!"
Hans Zimmer will be remembered among the greatest composers of all times. It is unbelivable how many great soundtracks he created.
it is gpt4 early access to Hollywood composers so he just get ready songs dont fall to his fake soundtracks
Many Young composers do hard work and he just earns credits for them by his name.
zimmer should be held amongst the likes of john williams, in my opinion. that's where he belongs. he's a genius.
Herald of the Change is easily the best track in the whole OST. Denis really was masterful at making Part 1 a fantastic adaption of the book and I cannot wait for Part 2 and Messiah. Bless the Maker and His Water!
Bro I 100% agree the scenes where Paul studies arrakis and the actual “herald of the change scene had the best atmosphere in the whole movie imo
I would have to say Leaving Caladan is my favorite track, however I hate how short it is lol. Seeing Paul say goodbye to his planet and seeing all of the Atreides ships rise out of the water was absolutely beautiful in theatres
Is it confirmed that Denis got greenlit for Messiah?
@@thegoodwin we probably won’t know that before dune part 2 comes out, may be wrong tho.
@@thegoodwin No official confirmation but Denis has said that he very much hopes to film it, and if Part 2 is as much of a success as 1, I can see him get to do it!
IMAX is the only way to go with this movie. I saw it IMAX and regular. With the IMAX you feel it in your core. Amazing.
It took me while to understand that the whole suite is a hommage to Ennio Morricones 'Once a time in the West' 4-tone harmonica theme. It is so perfect and fitting, Ennio would be proud of Hans.
Paul's dream is an insane piece of music. I don't think anyone can ever match Hans' musical genius.

Brian Eno’s Prophecy theme for Dune is far better in every metric. It captures the essence of Dune.
If they release Dune at the theater again, I would go again.
I hope there will be a Dune double feature in cinemas when the second one will come out

Ripples in the sand is my favorite! When Paul says “I hear your footsteps old man!” I flipped out!! He meant the sans worm and Gurney!!! Seeing that worm vibrating the sand was amazing!!!

It’s wonderful to listen to all of these suites. And even better to read Dune itself to these as well.
I cannot express how otherwordly Hans Zimmer's music feels to me. It's majestic.
A great soundtrack for the best science fiction story ever.
Hypnotic. The best Hans Zimmer has ever produced!
I also really like what he did here, but the composition for Interstellar is unmatched. It's unreal what he managed to compose for that film.
Hard to choose between this and BR2049
the exact word I used when I first heard the main theme
this ost kinda reminds me of man of steel, it's awesome. i hope he does the soundtrack for the next movie too
This track is one of the greats, but Interstellars tracks will always be the greatest.
I have always been a fan of Dune, but watching the movie and experiencing Hans Zimmer's epic soundtrack really brought it all back to life for me.
This soundtrack gave a whole other life to the books. Re-reading them with the music in mind gives it a new depth it didn't have before! Just wow
Probably I should do that too! I read the first Dune novel before the movie came out, and even though I bought it I haven't reread it yet. But I will definitely listen to the score next time I'll read it!
Paul Atreides had incredible self-control. He could keep the same position for long minutes. Truly, The Force was with him.
Right as I saw "Part 1" on the screen in the theaters, I got really excited for when "Part 2" comes out down the road!
I felt so empty when the movie ended , I want moreeee!!!
Same here, i felt so empty when it ended
God, I fucking love this suite, Hans Zimmer just made another Masterpiece...
Masterwork and Timeless Movie and Soundtrack
Of course, a suite written for Dune should be called a stillsuite.
Underrated comment.
Brilliant!

"It is done."
Well done extracting this from the magnificent Zimmer's creation.
I mean, it's basically one theme intensely enchanting you for more than 17 minutes straight, yet when it ends you realize that you want even more.
Can't wait for DUNE 2
Just like each note of this composition, each one of your upvotes brings me joy as I keep returning to listen to this video.
It's great to know that people appreciate good music.
The first Dune book is a fantastic adventure but it really comes into itself and unleashes its full philosophical power in Dune Messiah. I really hope Denis will adapt at least the second book as well, otherwise the whole series becomes just some generic adventure story
search for the 1:43:1 IMAX format comparison for this film, we were robbed of just being given the 16:9 aspect ratio.
I'm so jealous of those limited people who got the chance to see this in IMAX
Goosebumps - herald of the change made the hairs on my arm stand up in imax - stunning
It's such a strong melody that will be stuck in my head in the best possible way.

I loved playing the Dune game in 2000. Never expected a movie 20 years later based on the same books and settings.
It's the sheer power of DESERT POWER.
What I love about the film Dune is it’s so much about Paul, and the music beautifully and tragically communicates his great story.
This film is just something else! Everything from the cinematography to the performances, production and costume design, VFX, pacing and of course the score is just seamless. The most immersive theater experience I've had in years. Frank Herbert would be proud.
transition of the score is just perfection.

Magic is all I can say about the film, the music, the idea of adaptation.
I love this soundtrack so much. Dune was so good
:O
When I first hear this score, I though the soundtrack was composed by Ramin Djawadi. It has that kind of middle eastern influence I heard on some GOT scores composed by Ramin. Looks like the master had something to learn from his student as well. This movie's soundtrack is definitely one of my favorite ones by Hans Zimmer.
I love how the soundtrack sounds like it came from the year 10000, fuckin awesome
Soundtrack brings me to tears. The soundscape is utterly edifying.
Leaving Caladan ❤️
I cannot wait to see part 2... I hope it will be as riveting as part 1.

“This is only the beginning.”
They really nailed the feeling of being both a young man unsure of his future and a physical god millenia in the making.
He just has the feeling of weight to his action in some scenes, like he could erase you with a word.
Litterally.
And yet he also greets friends like a child and voices concerns over his ability to lead.
_And his word shall carry death eternal, to those who stand against the righteous._
Yes, very poetic
I was rewatching part 1 recently and it really stood out to me how strongly they characterise the character of Paul Atriedes, heir of Caladan, in contrast to what you shall soon see him become. More so (and more effectively) than even the book. His youth and humanity really shine through. There are so many scenes in part 1 that will rhyme with counterpart scenes in part 2 (which I know from the book) which will show the gargantuan journey Paul takes between those two points. Scenes with his father, his mother, the reverend mother, the Fremen, Shai-Halud and more will make for stunning comparisons.
@@pseudonymousbeing987 and its also really sad what happens since truth be told paul is a good man and if it wasnt for arrakis,he would have lead house atreides and caladan to a age of prosperity.
Yet instead,he acended to godhood and unleashed a horror that slept in the sand for centurys that no one can hold back now.
The soundtrack right through the film made me feel like I was going along on the journey. Particularly Herald of the Change so early on.
Ive listened to all albums of Dune OST religiously since the release, but this mix is the penultimate tribute. Bless you Tim

This movie has one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard in my life
The way you organized these specific soundtracks in this order to make it seem like one continous piece that just gives you chill after chill is amazing, fantastic work. Thank you so much! I'm really happy that you feel so satisfied with this montage, in fact I always try to make my transitions as coherent and seamless as possible (it's not always easy). To read comments like yours make me realize I actually did it! 😁
I am writing the third volume of my Egyptian septology while listening to this music...just magical 💫
The soundtracks feel so ominous and sad. I hope Hans Zimmer will do the orchestral concert for this. Really want to experience it.
The story of Dune is not a happy one. It's protagonists are often those who is rather morally grey in the long run. I suppose it's only fitting for the music to reflect that.
