My dad did go behind my moms back to do it, but i think he knew she wouldn't allow something like that to happen even though its his money. My grandma said she didnt have money for bills but my uncle paid 90 percent of them and gave her 300 bucks a month to spend. Fortunately my uncle had gave me savings bonds, which he didnt put her name on, every year until I was 18 so I had to use that to help pay for some college expenses. 4 years later it ended up being me, my aunt and uncle takinf care of her until she died.
