I cannot believe Epics games does not have controller support after so much time. I have never buy any game from them and I stop getting free games from them months ago. I am so happy

for everyone with this problem, try going into your pc, program files, epic games(or whatever laucher you use) and select the game that you want there. The app that your selecting in your desktop is probrably just a quick acess icon so thats why it doesnt work.

Ok sooo after messing with it all day…there is a simpler way to get the controller working instead of moving everything to steam just open task manager and close steam load up Fortnite and your controller should auto configure…. The reason the problem happens is because steam and epic are trying to use 2 different controller configs…. But I love the vid I’m just trying to help because I prefer controller on some games and I know how frustrating this is 🤝

after the changes to Big Picture in the new overlay update, the option for controller configuration for individual applications like non steam games doesnt work anymore.
I have been trying to get my controller to work on fortnite because i want to get aim assist lol. But for some reason no tutorials ever work. I am on a nintendo switch pro controller. Nothing works. I have tried wiring it, using different configurations, trying both of your methods and nothing works. Do you have any idea on what I could do?
Literally nothing will work for me im about to give up. Red Dead 2 wont detect it at all no matter what. Im using a ps5 controller, HItman 2 detects it but as an Xbox xontroller which i can tolerate but RDR2 on epic games will not detect my controller ):
I had this same issue at first as well, but I managed to find out what the issue was. For me the issue was that I was selecting the executable instead of the application file. To select the application file I had to do the following. 1. First you need to know where the the game files were actually downloaded. 2. To find this (assuming your game is on the epic game store) you should first open the epic game store launcher 3. Go to Library 4. Right click the game you want to add 5. On the the drop down you want to select manage 6.This will open up a new drop down where you want to look for the row which says installation if you look to the left there will be a folder icon next to uninstall click on that This should open up the file location where the game was downloaded and is also where the application file should be as well 7. Then I just used file path shown from the opened folder to find the file under steam according to how he did it in the video and selected the application file Hope This Helps (p.s. @chexrt630 I don't think method will work for rdr2 because in my experience Rockstar games on epic need to be to be launched on epics launcher to verify the purchase because of Rockstar's own launcher)

still dont get the overlay no matter what method I use. switch pro controller and I am tired. It allows me to jump and boost, but that is only because the controller uses the mouse buttons on the triggers and it normally does this when you aren't in steam for like browsing internet ig.

I’m glad this helped out, but sadly the reason I made this video is because Epic does NOT support controller configuration which is stupid, hopefully in the future they can apply the confit but until then this is how you have to do it

A method that worked for me was exiting and fully closing steam, then connecting my controller via Bluetooth, then opening the game and it works
