Very cool engineering on this, thanks for the in-depth look! I hope a hose-at-top version is developed. I prefer that configuration over the “elephant trunk”.
It still has "elastic" of some sort (the springy stretchy fabric) that will, over time, become less springy / stretchy. The little black friction levers that "lock" and the filament / tubes they "lock" onto is a system that will. over time, begin to have issues. But yes, it has the potential to be a more durable headgear system that could outlast the other system currently on the market by a wide margin. It's capability for independent left / right micro-adjustment is brilliant. Nice application / modification / adaptation of a tried-and-true system. Kudos to the F&P R&D team!
time will tell mate but i don't know any fabric that becomes 'less stretchy' over time. My jeans are proof of that . The lock is made of carbon fibre so should hold up well. Maybe it's not 'everlasting' but it will certainly last a lot longer than the rest
@@CPAPReviews, Elastic mate...wears out over time...less "stretchy" (expands but still want to retract/spring back), more "saggy" (no longer "springs back", just gets looser and looser). Same goes for spandex and any/every other material with an "elastic" nature to it. Whatever is providing the "pull" that causes it to naturally snug down onto your head will "wear out" over time. Just like your jeans sag out and get more comfortable over time, whatever is providing the elasticity on the headgear will wear out and become less functional. The "built-in belt" will still allow it to be snugged down, but the elastic part of the system is also a critical element to the overall function / fit / comfort of it.
The elastic bit is just a sleeve. It doesn't hold anything to your face. It can be as saggy as it wants to be and the mask will work fine. You could probably cut it off, even, though it wouldn't be comfortable with just the bare plastic wire.
Tried Rated 50:50 By far the best headgear I have ever used But so loud and windy... F30 is still the winner for me the noise stop elbow is just worth so much comfort... Mission now is to try and get the F&P headgear onto the F30 mask... If only these guys would work together!
Hi Nicko , I bought one of these last week. Yes, it is different, but I find it comfortable. Basically it was just a matter of getting used to the different style of pillow, but I’m right with it now. I’ve had no leaks at all with the SOLO, which was sometimes an issue with the P10 And it’s superquiet. Once my own breathing settles, I don’t hear a sound.
It’s very similar to the F&P Evora cushion mask except for the adjustable headgear. The Evora is the first mask after 8 tries that I was able to use. I like it except for the fact that I have a small head and the headgear tends to slip forward. The Solo looks like a better option for me. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully my DME will begin offering it.
Thanks for sharing your insights and feedback. I'm sure the viewers will appreciate reading it. I also found it took a few nights for the pillows to soften up
This is fabulous and I am bring to my DME company which serves millions of people yearly. And this will be the best ever we've seen. I love it and if they could make one with the tubing at the top of head that would be the most fantastic. 😂thanks so much Nicko, you've helped so many people that I've sent your website so they can learn even more. And I send emails of your videos multiple times per day to my patients. You've been my ace on the hole for everything. Thank you so very much ❤️ 💖
I've been using a RedMed AirFit P10 since they came out and love it. Now this new Solo Mask is with the self adjusting locking feature is freaking amazing! I've switched to the Solo and yeah, the head gear is a lot better. The only grip is, the Solo feels slightly heaver than the P10.
Looks very interesting. I ended up replacing my resmed tightening straps with velcro & 3d printed my mask straps as the silicone ocassionally broke. No more issues & expensive unncecessary repairs. Always on the lookout for the ultimate mask though. I do prefer masks where the tube is directed to the top of the head as this is the pivot point for your body when rolling over. I really dont understand how people are ok with the hose getting tangled in arms and blankets during the night. Each to their own though.
Thank you Nicko for this good review. Now I understand why you are all jazzed about this new F&P Solo mask. It sounds great. Good bit of drama there, while the rum and coke at the camera's edge is a right bang up refreshment.👍 Beware brother of Veruca Salt.
This is exciting! I'm up for new supplies! I'm hoping my the company I used through my insurance has this in stocks. Thank eof taking it apart and showing how it works
Love my P10 but I have to give this new Solo a try! Interesting that I was a mouth breather but trained myself to keep my tongue at the roof of my mouth when going to sleep after watching a video of someone who had done this for himself for same reasons as mine. It took about a week and my doctor adjusting the pressures appropriately. So glad I was successful because I’m very claustrophobic and just couldn’t do the full face masks. P10 has been very successful for me! I do have to say, very rarely, I will still open my mouth but it is so brief that it doesn’t affect anything. Thanks for such a great review!
What we're paying for is not just the material, but all the trial and error and engineering that goes into developing these things that help us all keep breathing at night.
Hello Nick. I ordered my F&P Solo Pillow fit pack after watching your reviews. I’ve been using it for over a week and a half now and I’m really enjoying it. I am struggling a little though with some nostril discomfort when I wake. I’m using the M pillow - I’ve tried the S and it doesn’t work as the leak rate is huge. I’ve looked around for a suitable gel to use to try and ease the discomfort but all I could find is FESS Nasal Gel. Is this suitable for this purpose and not a risk to the cushion or me? Is there any product that would be more suitable? Love your work by the way.
Thanks man, F&P won't go out of their way to make it compatible with another company's proprietary tube but there are plenty of adapters and a variety of ways to connect any cpap mask to the airmini. Cheers
Hi Nick, as others have already mentioned, it would indeed be revolutionary if they could design a full face mask along similar design lines. By the way not sure if anyone else noticed the level of your drink getting lower as the video progressed, I wonder what that could have been. 🙂
Is this the same cushion as the Evora? I love the idea, but I've tried that cushion and it just didn't do a good seal for me. Not sure how much of a difference the strap would make there...
I've had several ResMed P10 mask straps break from the silicone where the lower strap connects to the tightening buckle. I tried the Eclipse but had issues with the tape sticking and it being very noisy, and my CPAP supplier can't seem to get it so my insurance won't cover it. I'd like to try this new mask because the P10 nasal pillows are starting to get uncomfortable on one of my nostrils. I trim it down a but and that seems to help but I'd rather not have anything sticking in my nose. Doesn't look like it's available in the U.S.. So is there a way to clean the cloth parts of this new strap?
Will it help with the problem of the straps slipping up the back of my head? The two straps are supposed to be quite separate, but they just tend to go together, and unlesss I put my hair in a ponytail inbetween the two straps, they just keep riding up.
I’ve always been confused why no masks use basic elastic and spandex for all of the straps so excited that basic 1982 materials technology has finally come to cpap.
Hey brother, yeah you can use this mask with any machine however with a ResMed Airmini (the travel cpap) you'll need a $20 adapter. Anything else you're good. Cheers
Great review Nick..again..makes me want to try it even more...😁Will let you know my thoughts after I get it and wear it for a few weeks...& looking forward to what other people will say as well..
That is very clever! As others have mentioned, a full face mask for those of use who are mouth/nose breathers would be nice. Honestly though, what would be better is if someone would actually do some decent research of how to make this gear less cumbersome & more comfortable. The full mask absolutely drives me nuts so I tend to skip nights (more & more recently!)
Hi, this mask does look like it fits the bill, at least for me. This may sound ignorant but is it compatible with Airsense 11? Does it come with an adapter?
The p10 for her has no adjustment straps but may only be suitable for smaller heads. Both that one and this one have a plastic frame that digs into your face if you are a side sleeper. Id like to see that fixed.
I just got a P10 for Her and it has adjustable straps. The frame of the P10 doesn’t dig into my face and I am a side sleeper. Maybe you’re talking about an older version of this mask.

I can't sleep on my side with this mask I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but the lock is not enough to keep the mask in place when it rubs against the pillow if anybody has any ideas please let me know thank you

Simplicity is one of the highest forms of sophistication.
A "revolutionary new" FULL face mask would be nice. Then and only then people will get excited
Agreed, full face masks are my only go to mask. For me nothing beats that snuggly feeling of a facehugger alien wrapped around my face. Zzzzzz
I totally agree would be great.
Very cool engineering on this, thanks for the in-depth look! I hope a hose-at-top version is developed. I prefer that configuration over the “elephant trunk”.
Yup, definitely. the elephant trunk is so uncomfortable, having a slightly better adjustment mechanism won't help me.
I’ve had mine for about a month now. It works great!
Great for the person struggling with straps and leaks. Thanks Uncle Nicko.
Everlasting headgear 🎭👏🏾 Bravo excellent work. That clip earned my subscription

time will tell mate but i don't know any fabric that becomes 'less stretchy' over time. My jeans are proof of that . The lock is made of carbon fibre so should hold up well. Maybe it's not 'everlasting' but it will certainly last a lot longer than the rest
@Resist4 the cost is not a lot more? It's very much a standard new release mask cost

Thanks Nick. Amazing! How does it attach to AirMini?
I've done a bunch of vids on how to attach any mask to the airmini mate. Just do a search of the channel. Cheers
Hi Nick, as others have already mentioned, it would indeed be revolutionary if they could design a full face mask along similar design lines. By the way not sure if anyone else noticed the level of your drink getting lower as the video progressed, I wonder what that could have been. 🙂
Haha, i certainly didn't pour it so it could drink itself. If i'm gonna work on a Sunday i might as well enjoy it
Hoping for a full face version!!
That would be very cool!
Is this the same cushion as the Evora? I love the idea, but I've tried that cushion and it just didn't do a good seal for me. Not sure how much of a difference the strap would make there...
me same with Evora - gave up due to high leaks

Is it compatible with Airmini? Any accessory/adapter needed if compatible?
Is this available to your monthly pro members or can you only order it to the US if you have an annual membership?
When's the full face version coming out please, I've tried about 10 different mask and they all leak and are tight :(
after six months of trying Nasal masks have just gone onto Resmed F20full face mask - in seven days best low leaks ever with one day recording zero
Great review Nick..again..makes me want to try it even more...😁Will let you know my thoughts after I get it and wear it for a few weeks...& looking forward to what other people will say as well..
Thanks legend, yep will do. I've had it a couple of weeks now and it's a quality mask that's for sure. Cheers

I've been struggling with masks so this one has me really intrigued. Anyone have any idea when it's hitting Canada/North America?
I am preying that they implement this same design for the Evora FFM... Please!!

I changed from a P10 to the P30 (IIRC) after the first time I was wrapped in the hose. Never happens with a top-mount hose.
A hose holder solves the problem, at least it did for me.

Can you use the solo mask with a facial hair ? Chees
Great mask for people who have implants and where magnet clips are not tolerated.
That's a really good point and one i really should have thought of. Cheers :cheersr:
Just preordered one. Didn’t even do the discount. This will be the best thing since masks were made to hide under. Can’t wait!
It prob won't work with my long hair like the other one i tried
what if i’m laying with my face a little in the pillow?
I’m worried that head gear will slide on my hair.
It doesn't address the real problem with nose pillows, when you stop breathing your normal response s to open your mouth which defeats the purpose of the mask. A hybrid mask Like the Resmed F30i works much better

carbon fibre i believe and there's no way that plastic is cable is breaking :cheers
