- In this video we recap a 2 week trip to NJ where we meet up with Mayor. Mayor has been collecting sneakers for over 30 years and has decided to downsize there collection. Tune in so you can check out some of the many stories Mayor walks us through and shoes he shows off.
You can now check out Mayor’s personal collection here....
urbannecessities.com/pages/ma...
Jay, you need to create a hang tag with some type of Mayor logo, to show the shoe used to belong to Mayor.
See the site
Yeah for the ID shoes he created that be 🔥🔥
Good idea
Hell yeah! That's a great idea!
blow this comment
He should make a coffee table book for his shoes, like a history book for his collection
Fr
That’s a great idea. I would buy the book for sure.
That we would be fire af! But unfortunately in our day n age when the money 💰wears the crown...it would take a board room full of old, out of touch, executives that have no interest (other than profiteering in order to secure their salary, vacation home, weekend mistress getaways, private flights 🛩 etc..) in doing something small for the culture, like a coffee table book for Mayor who has pushed the culture and the Nike brand forward for over 20 years. They would look at potential profits on this and say it would generate significant earnings in order for them to approve the licensing on that coveted Nike swoosh. If they were really devoted to pushing the culture...Mayor would have had his own shoe by now!!!! Fuck it!! He would've had his own Nike show all about sneakers 👟 !!!! I vote for MAYOR, Latinos stand up 🤟🏽
Mayor would make another 500k- a mill just off a book on top of his probably 10+ million dollar collection
I agree with this!!!
This might be the best sneaker documentary without being a documentary
Listen man... I’m from nyc and was around for this sneaker culture from the beginning. But no one has a collection like mayor or Clarke Kent only because if you weren’t around in nyc at the time idc how many Jordan’s you have or hype shoes you might have. Does not compare to 1of1 or the bespoke era or Nike making shoes for you. This brings back so many memories man. Big up to both y’all. Stay up and stay blessed.
This should of been a Netflix series.. also would of been dope to see a time lapse snapshot of each and every shoe. 🤔
I fuckin agree bro. I’ve been following him since middle school when I started spending time on line for sneakers in 2003. I’m here now this is art. Mayor is a artist. That room is a museum and now he bout to share it with the world
No bull
Nah this for the youtubes man
Thanks for the length of the video 💪🏻🙏🏻
Ya this needs to be on Netflix. I can totally see Jaysse and Mayor getting atleast a mini series or short documentary. Jay built a huge successful brand & business; I can so envision it and wouldn't be surprised if it happened.
We will never see a collection like this again. Someone getting these shoes from relationships with people rather then spending thousands of dollars. Legendary shit
Check out Big Boy Cheng bruh
People are only going to have bigger collections over time expecially people who are significantly wealthier and more connected/famous than the mayor. Aka like Travis Scott, other rappers musicians and, the super rich.
@@Idiotsrevenge and thats whats wrong with sneaker culture. It became a status symbol. The moment you see someone like Kylie wearing dunks, its when you have to realize that sneakers culture isn't the same no more.
Shoezeum back in the Day! DJ Clark Kent, him and Mayor are good friends and share alot of the same sneakers. Kenny PerfectPair, the Sneaker Girls with over 6 thousand pairs, Big Boy Cheng. Still alot of crazy collections out there.
@@Idiotsrevenge difference between mayor and all those rappers is the passion. Them rappers are just buying shoes because it's hype it's the trend and they have money they want to flex on stage on social media, they don't do the effort and take the time to collect. Mayor did it for the culture the love of sneakers and true passion. Building such a collection is not only about the money it's about the relationship the passion the time the motivation, it will never be replicated
ive watched this from start to finish and made feel happy and sad. I loved it . seeing a course of history of acquiring, making and building this collection through YEARS. Really got me and looking my little collection and thinking of each memory I had with each shoe I don't have anymore or too small to wear. collecting memories and not thinking of prices and how much it cost to get them. the value each shoe and what you experience with that moment of getting that shoe, creating, and bonds. So dope to see the raw footage of it and made me cry and appreciate what I have. thank you for that
Yes, I wanted to share the feelings of it when I was editing, I appreciate your response to the vid fam 🙏
Watching this a third time, it’s just amazing to watch plus Mayor being a funny ass guy helps out a lot. This was a great vid.
This isn't a youtube video, it's a straight-up documentary.
Dead ass
Just at the beginning of the video, and he said the sale is to get space for something else......Come on Mane !
I don’t know how this dude ,who’s identity IS all those shoes, is gonna get rid of 30 years of what he loves -for space. If it’s for a family situation, Salute ! Otherwise- I’m sorry I don’t know what dude is doing
RESPECT
No it's not, it's a video
Air Pang do you speak and write English
i know im pocket watching but personally i wouldve tried to save them til a good solid sneaker museum opens up
Finally got a chance to watch this whole video. Took me two days, but was definitely worth the watch! All the stories were my favorite part.
Mayor has sneakers that you’d literally never find anywhere else. Sneaker 1 of 1s, sneakers directly given to him from Nike, hands down the greatest collection of all time.
Took pairs from other people to end up selling them. Cool
Tremayne Hackshaw ... People grow up and prioritise other things in life. What’s the point in sitting on a million dollars worth of sneakers when you can sell them and look after your family. He’s enjoyed the collection, now it’s time to move on. Not like he’s going to take them to the grave is he.
@@o0MadHouse0o You also need to realize he can't wear them shits.. He lost so much weight his shoe size changed significantly.
Think perfect pair got him beat on that
What does weight have to do with his feet lol I don't think they change
Totally agree with Mayor - when J talks its almost like he's about to burst into tears
Never realised before but now can't unsee it. It's amazing 😂
I was thinking the same thing lmao
PUT THE PLAY BACK SPEED AT 1.5x....it'll sound normal
Facts 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s Coke talk
BEST VIDEO EVER J!! Lot's of History and appreciation. I seriously LOVE this!! You and Mayor are ICONS. Keep it up.
Finally finished up rewatching! This is literally a docu-series in a whole movie..this shi too dope fr. Mayor has the craziest collection of all time!
Mayor is sleeping on an opportunity as we speak. If I was him, I’d write a book right now. With his connects, he’ll get many sneaker shops that will be willing to push it for him and enough people on YT and in the community who will hype up the book. Imagine a detailed book of mayors life in the sneaker world and all of his experiences and stories. How the culture has changed/evolved over the years. I’d be so down to read that book.
Not enough sneaker heads to really bother printing
@@commonsense1193 i was about to say. like i like shoes but not sneaker head level to the point i would read an entire book about the shoe industry? but also i would totally read something like that with street wear. the thing i dont like about sneaker collections is why collect something that is meant to be used and instead never use them? or if you do you only do it one time but i know most sneaker collectors dont ever wear the shoes they collect they just store them or display them.
You both are wrong. If that were the case then why did shoe dog get released
There are many books for sneaker heads that came out and did very well. And you know, most would buy it just to have as part of the piece in their collection.
@@Danik0211 get a dope design and it could also be a coffee table book even if people dont read it, it would be a vibe
When he said “it’s gone” around 5 minutes in, I felt that. That commitment. Anyone who collected anything knows that pain.
I keep coming back to this video, this is history right here. Worlds greatest collector and worlds greatest reseller, what a moment.
Crazy respect. Timeless memories. I am digging mayor's collection. Thank you
This has to be the most historic sneaker vid I have ever seen...Much respect to Mayor and Two Js!!!
💯💯💯✔✔
BIG FUCKING FACTS!!! Much Respect Mayor... Great Job and Respect J!
At 8:06 that's Michael Jordan wearing the Barkley airforce 2's. If Jordan wore them it's no question.
This is history boys ! Mayor has to be in the Mount Rushmore of sneakers!
he is. #FSRARMY
Watched the entire video. A collection like this was so worth my time. Ty for documenting it JJ
Its been over a year this video was uploaded and i can genuinely say it will never get played out! The history behind all this is truly amazing. We need an update video with mayor with all the new shoes he has purchased since then i think it would make another banger video, stay blessed legends.
Before mayor passes we the people need a nike x Mayor colab 🙌
This needs to happen. And of course on an AF1.
They already do have one in this video lol just not for us
@@gangsterghost6943 yeah he has multiple nike colabs, most of em are 1 for 1's though
I feel like this won’t get the recognition it deserves for a long, long time.
but when it resurfaces in a couple of years and the heads then can look back and see history man, that'll be fucking cool.
I mean... it’s just him sitting in an office chair talking about getting rid of the collection for 2 hours and the rest of it is actually showing off the shoes
Almost 2 million views ltr
This doc is something else. It shows sneakers as culture, sneakers as fashion, sneakers as business, and sneakers as life.
Was not bored for one second throughout the whole video. Youre an inspiration and an idol and there is no one like you
You can tell this man just genuinely loves shoes! The history, story’s, the emotion he will always carry with him on every pair of shoes he had.✊🏽✊🏽
This video will forever be underrated and won't get enough love
Facts
It warms my heart to see all of those AF1s....Ice Cubes, original Rocafella, all types of JD Sports, Co.JP, etc... What a time to be alive.
This was an incredibly long video but I loved watching it. I binged the entire video and although I am not a sneaker head like you fellas, I do have a passion for them and it was surreal to see so many gems that have never been seen by so many. Great video.
I wonder how much he got paid for doing this for him?
"You don't wear the box you wear the shoes!" Mayor the LEGEND!!!💖💖💖 that quote!
two Puerto Rican legends, much love from the island 🇵🇷❤️
One of the best informative videos that I've watched on RUclips and I don't even really wear trainers. I love crazy shoes but this video made me wish I got in there. The greatest collection ever...
I'm not into sneakers but I watched this whole video in one setting. It truly is inspiring.
I got nothing but respect for Mayor because the passion and love for shoes has always been there. He knows the names of every single pair of shoes he owns and knows the history behind it. He likes what he likes and doesn't look for someone's approval on it. Although, he did go through a stage of flexing but then again, he also earned that right to do so. Now he speaks from a humble place and wants to give someone else a chance to enjoy what he once did or buy something you won't ever see again. His collection is 1 of 1. Although I'm not the biggest fan of air force 1s, I got to respect the abundance and history.
Mayor’s stories are not boring.
They're not not boring. Being a sneaker OG doesn't automatically make you a legend. Admire the hustle, but this dude is nothing without the shoes he "collected".
gorskface He still has a whole storage unit full and 800-1000 at his house lol
gorskface jealously
@@AG.85 I had all these points in the back of my head, especially when he got real disrespectful when it came to the line campers, not sure if this derives from the NY mentality but disrespectful none the less
gorskface yeah you can look at it from that perspective. But if you wanna think about it like that then nobody is anything w out everything they done. He is really a legend because he took the step to do all of this. Just like every famous person. If they didn’t do what they did they would be nothing. Like he said. There will never be another mayor. His collection is unique
I sat for 2 1/2 hours and this was amazing, the sneaker game Mayor has created and Two J's has made possible for all of us to watch its so real and amazing
I was able to be friendly with Mayor for a brief bit when i was deep in the sneaker game. One of the coolest, nicest person in the game.
Mayor is a real sneaker God Father. Much love and respect for the both of you dudes. This is what hard work, dedication, commitment, networking, communication, and being loyal gets anyone if your willing to put your all into it. Respect!!!
Legendary and putting the collection back into the community is priceless respect wish mayor was size 11 lol
I dont know much about sneakers but I found this so interesting. I can't believe the heritage, the trust and love there is. Love the story that has been told and the story to come.
Had to come and run this one back. Took a week to finish it but well worth it. Appreciate you sharing a gem 💎 like this to us OG’s.
Make a section online “The Mayor Collection” or “The Hoardings of Mayor”, “ The Mayors Closet”!!!!
I wish they were size 12 but my wallet is glad they aren’t
10.5 is the hardest to come by
Bert Andurnee bruh try a 14
@@hygrometer it's a pain having that size
Bert Andurnee no its not lol. That’s a common size
@@eeZyy_ its so common its sold out usually
I really appreciate you sharing and allowing others to share in your journey.
I finally watched it through one sitting. I'm the same Decade's old as Mayor. And This is the best sneaker History of a man with just a passion for Sneakers l can relate to. Plus have always been a AF1 lover. What a Momentous Event. You are all Legendary!!!
These should be displayed in a museum. Seriously. And Mayor should ask an admission to see them... Imagine a sneaker museum with ALL of these in it, in New York or LA?
And yup, that Netflix idea was really good.
Insane.
What a sad day. I'd cry my tears out...
it was called the shoezium look into it smh
@@richardcastillo3568 he had a weak collection of bullshit don’t at me
He's Making room for his Yu-Gi-Oh cards
I can’t front. When I saw this video for the first time I shed a tear because when I started collecting this man was and still is a legend so watching the video tore me apart.
i can't even imagine the amount of time and work behind this collection...You The Sneaker GOD..Bless up can't wait to get my hands on any one of these.
“Why does he look like he wants to cry!?”
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Such a 🔥 video! Wish it was longer!
Thank you, Mayor!
P0
Mayor's like the Grandpa that has a story for every shoe, so much wisdom, so much history. Truest OG...
Happy thanksgiving y’all 🦃🍁, I’m thankful for all the real ones/day ones... thanks for all your support through the journey! 🙏🏾💯🛣💫
I don't know why this was suggested to me, but I loved every minute of it!
Insane to see Mayor And Jaysee team up together to put this history and Collection our to the world. Wish I wore 9.5
Me too I'm a 15😭😭😭
Det1911 damn, big feet = 😏
@@OfficialTouch01 = big socks
For real size 14 small feet ass
I've seen his collection many times over the years and it never gets old. There's def not another collection around like Mayor's. People use legend, iconic, GOAT, classic, etc. so loosely nowadays, but this collection is truly legendary! Shouts to Mayor for letting UN sell the stuff he can no longer wear - that's major major love!
So much heart and dedication in one video, this was so cool to watch !!
Really enjoyed this video ! Watched it in parts trew out couple days ... in between watched some of your video also , you are a really good dude J !
I think nobody else could have documented mayor collection like this so props to 2js and the editor.
I appreciate it! 🙏
Yeah sure PJ Tucker, Perfect pair, DJ Greg and Clark Kent are up there. But for me Mayor has the best one. AF1 for life.
True. His af1 collection are all *grails*
Also his trainer, Air max and other misc kicks was fire too. I'd see so much lo key heat in the background that would never get recognized in those videos smh lol.
And the rare thing he has is soooo fucking much. Consistency for 30 yrs. He got it all.
Also perfect pair aint a OG collector and didn't work for his collection.
Idk....Clark might be the one.you hear his name throughout most of the video Clark Kent was sending him kicks...
You’re The King of all These collectors in the world. God bless you and your family.
Yo! This needs to be a Netflix special
For real
This video was amazing, thank you two j's kicks for taking the time, effort and energy to create this documentary. Your appreciation for this collection is beyond belief. This was crazy! But you did it. Congrats and my hat off to you my friend.
2020 can't get any worse...
2020:....
Retired legend for the win, dope collection major, you've been inspiring many of sneakerhead including me
Watched this over two days and this is amazing thank you for this video.
U made the video perfect.. been watching here and there at my own pace... Greay idea J
Great job showcasing the man, the myth, the legend that is Mayor. This is history and the impact this has and that Mayor has had on the sneaker culture is indescribable. Any body that has followed Mayor knows “it’s not just sneakers”. It’s been a gateway and lesson on investing, building relationships, taking care of your loved ones, and just having fun being yourself. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Mayorverse. ✌🏽
P
Finally had some free time to watch from start to finish. Thank you!
Amazing to see the magnitude of such a collection be broken down. Hats off to you Jay. I really enjoyed Mayor reminiscing. I look at my collection as a time capsule and remember life before social media. Hopefully i can get a piece of Mayor's collection.
Man this is one of the longest RUclips video I enjoy watching by far.. Jay is the man for putting in the work well deserve for everything he done in the sneaker game and Mayor is still KING in the sneaker world..
This collection gives me goosebumps.. Just bought another pair of white on white AF1s because I miss my forces. Thanks Mayor for letting us into your collection.
You know he cried when he got home all alone thats a long history 30 years that must have been hard to part from them
You know he cried when he got home all alone thats a long history 30 years that must have been hard to part from them
Probably not. I recently sold about 100 pairs of around 20 year old AF1 and Js. They’re just shoes. The memories don’t go away.
@@Dikwili yeah but ur 100 pairs are a lot less then a 2 million dollar collection
socks my point is they're just shoes.
@@Dikwili they're just shoes to YOU! You could've grown up not being able to afford shit and now you're grown you don't want to just let go of something you worked so hard for. Its sad. You weren't connected to those 100 js thats why lol
@@kingburtonhd3396 you don’t know me at all. I did grow up not being able to afford Jordan’s or even damn nikes. So don’t go around thinking you know people dude. I had some of those shoes for 20+ years brand new in the box because I loved them so much. People like you should refrain from opening this mouth and letting their fingers type dumb shit. When real life causes you to sell things that are just lying around to fix your god damned house, then you do big boy things. So STFU and take your mind reading shit somewhere else.
I’m a hour in and haven’t even noticed it. This is heat! Super rare shoes, along with life gems from both these dudes. Man!! Welcome back Jaysee
I truly enjoyed. I keep telling people now....
If Mayor and I wore the same size shoes.....I would visit your store and have those WBF's and the Borough Pack in those special boxes with the master case back on a flight to NC. Appreciate this collectors what TwoJ's is giving access to the WORLD to see
just insane video, thanks for this amazing time inside this crazy collection !!
Praying that J has got rock solid security at the store.
Darth Bossk He has people you can’t see protecting his place.
The Denim AF1s are fire!!! When Mayor talked about not being able to collab and then said "I'm not famous", I feel like I would probably never want to meet those "famous" people, but I'd love to meet the Mayor and shake his hand! Dude is pure heart and joy to the sneaker community!
Ok but why was this so interesting 😭 I’m not even into shoes like that but I watch the whole thing
Great job guys! It was fun watching history take place.
Hey Mayor I’m the guy who did your Yankee customs from Texas 💪🏾💪🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Now that is a serious collection
“You wanted to come and appreciate”. You make mad money off this but you live it, not self absorbed at all.❤️
Man this is one of the best videos I've seen on a long long time. I can't recall the last time I watched a 2 and a half hour video that kept me so engaged the entire time. Man this was sad to while at the same time inspiring hearing all the amazing stories Mayor had to share. And lastly it's so good to see TwoJs back on youtube and I can't wait to see what collection he does next
Mad respect! Thank you for sharing this process.
Super dope content. I got off 2/3 of my early 2000's Jordan's collection back in May of 2020, most had dry rotted from not wearing. It took 6 months to actually go through with it
I could’ve watched another 2 hours. Great episode! Cultivating relationships is really what made it happen!
Respect for what you do bro! Pinnacle moment in sneaker culture and history. Great way of capturing this archive footage for the ages to come.
I really appreciate showing this story this such an amazing story every second is worth watching. Thank to you we know more about mayor el alcalde from BRONX. IM SO PROUD TO BE FROM BRONX BECAUSE SEEN MAYOR IS A BIG THING ....
I would love to see 2j buy everybody's closet American pickers style.
He can grab these 200 and something.
NPC Voter frfr👍🏿✌️
he broke
American Sneaker Pickers would be a dope idea for a show.
@@HaightTheGreat The cool kicks dudes sorta do it already. It's going to be a few more years until our bricks become heat of tomorrow. And with all the retros...
I was just in your shop this last weekend from Texas it was such a special experience and i was fortunate enough to get a pair of shoes. What you do is so inspiring and now watching this video makes that experience of being in your shop is priceless.
This video has to be one of the dopest videos I’ve seen on this channel. I’ve seen this video twice in its entirety and blows my mind the shoes I saw. Dope video man for real!
Thank you for sharing the historical moment for the mayor. It was sad to see all those pairs go. I could have not done it myself to let go of all those pairs if I own that much as he did.
I started back in 2009 my first real pair buying with my own money was the Jordan 11 space-jams along with my girlfriend at that time, now my wife.
We were also with her sister along with her boyfriend as I still remember that as if it was yesterday.
It was cold and also rained that night as well.
So when the mayor mentioned people standing in line to get their pair of sneakers,
I know how it feels because I was once’s one of the people in line hoping to get a pair of my own.
To stand in line for many long hours without knowing to be guaranteed your size for a pair of limited sneakers.
The difference was I bought my pair’s to wear them and started to collect them.
I took pride in calling them my pairs.
My collection is nowhere near the mayor’s Collection, but that’s how my humble sneaker collection all started.
So I’m gonna end this by saying thank you again for sharing the historical moment. As part of the so-called “shoe game,” I enjoyed watching your entire video from start to finish.
Y'all should sign the shoe boxes from "the Mayor Collection" or send out cards or sumthin so people can identify this particular collection! & folks can post on their social media & what not!!!
Facts
He should make a coffee table book for his shoes, like a history book for his collection
Now that is a serious collection
Sounds like a plan
Because this dude could careless he just wants money, I’m not talking about mayor either.
I don't even have a proper sneaker in my collection still watch ur channel
Amazed to see this mayor gave a small hint about this on complex I guess
Much love n respect
Hey two Jays I saw the video where you took mayor's collection and I have to say you and mayor have inspired me to start my own shoe collection and I want to thank you and mayor thank you two days and mayor!!
Massive respect to Mayor and his passion,it clearly shows. Massove tepsecy to Jaysee smashing througut it all on his own. What a machine
Omg, the way Mayor wears hats cracks me up every time. It's on top of one eyebrow and he can hardly shut that eye.
Mid 90’s nyc street style.
This is one of the most epic episodes of hoarders I’ve ever seen. Great job.
Jay you are a very humble dude, I don't think that anyone else should or could have done with mayor's collection what you've done. You really have done a wonderful job and done right by mayor and his collection. I wish you the best of luck we know your not in it for the money your in it for the love of the game that's the sole reason mayor chose you and urban necessity to unload his collection.
I’m watching this a second round now - mad respect.
I like how you picked his brain not a lot of these sneaker ppl really asked him as much questions u did!
When asked how many pairs of Air Force said “600 or 700 pairs... yeah it’s bigger than some peoples collections”
Me sitting here with 8 sneaker rotation 🙃 18:15
Fr lol
@Bare Knuckle Its not about the shoes making you happy. It's about the designs, the artwork, the stories, the materials, and the aesthetics of the shoes and how it catches the eye. We don't collect because it makes us happy we collect because it is art and we hold value as they are all special pieces of a moment in time and taste similar to a photograph that brings back memories.
@Bare Knuckle when Mayor made the comment about the skippy shoes and he would never be like that again was his trigger. It definitely is a mental thing for him. Listening to him talk and also seeing his IG he seems a bit insecure.
He's Making room for his Yu-Gi-Oh cards
@OpBanana he said 700 white on whites and like 1000 forces as a whole
