DoorDash Drivers: Is This MANIPULATION Or An Honest Mistake?

  • In this doordash driver video, I talk about a passive aggressive message one dasher recently got in their acceptance rate screen. "Your completion rate is below the 90% threshold." Was this an honest mistake, or is DoorDash trying to trick drivers into raising their acceptance rate? Why wasn't this message in the completion rate screen?

    I dont think this company will ever change due to the two things that are preventing them from going straight. The two things are “Dash Now” and “LOP”. These two are the culprits for most dashers accepting poor orders.
    It is just saddening and the customer rating system is a telling sign for it. The fact that it is even there as a power factor for both the customer and DD should open the eyes of the dashers around the world in terms of manipulation and entitlement.

      AR means nothing for LOP. I was invited with a 23% AR.
      To remain on LOP, I just need to complete 100 orders a month, have a CR (completion rate) of 95% and customer rating of 4.5 or 4.7
      LOP requires someone whose committed to finishing orders and why the 95% min CR requirement. I know my market and wait times, so keeping CR up is very easy, and the fact that DD lets you unassign an order after 10 mins with not hit to CR
      As for LOP orders themselves, most are worth waiting for, even if longer then 30 mins. Waited an 1hr once and whole order took 1hr 20mins but was paid $63 and only drove 4.7 miles.
      If Tiers moves into a market LOP will go away and then AR will matter to get LOP order. But for now I get LOP orders everyday no matter how low my AR is

      I worked for a company driving company vehicles, and we'd lose our bonus money quarterly if you had to many hard brakes or speeding or fast accelerations. Im surprised DD would do that because we own our own rides and pay for our own insurance. If a person walks out infront of your vehicle you may need to hit ur brakes, or coming up to yellow lights.... I feel its a way for them to have leverage of getting rid of drivers the investors see as undesierable. Or maybe its a way to keep the peace and force delivery drivers to not be maniacs? But its in the terms and conditions, they monitor everything in your cellphone, browsing history, contacts etc...

I think they have programmed the Algorithm to have one key purpose and that's to get orders delivered by any means possible and the algorithm just tries different tactics based off of previous dasher behaviors. It's been learning and adapting to us and most dashers have been easily manipulated. I'm sure there are still people in charge of overseeing things but only to correct the algorithm when it starts to implement strategies that are borderline illegal. I could be completely wrong but that;s just my theory after observing the changes in manipulation tactics over the past 3 years.

      It's always interesting to me. About half of the drivers I talk to agree that it matters while the other half doesn't think it matters. I can only speak to my market though. Here, it's all about how you position yourself. With that said, a true "high paying" DoorDash order in my market is only like $9.00, so nothing worth writing home about.

      @@ZachDrivesFast Yes, it is truly market dependent. In my market, you get the same equal mix of high paying orders and crappy orders no matter where your AR is. My Ar has been 100% and 10%, same pay either way.

      @@JEDINITE30I also get a mix of good and bad offers in my market regardless of my AR. The only benefit I see for having a 70% or higher AR is the Dash Now Anytime button because relying on the schedule in my market is gamble on getting to dash.

      You sir.. are correct 💯. You still can get trash orders but they are higher paying orders most of the time. I'm in Kentucky and it's the exact same here. I also take no tip..no trip orders.. which enrages some people.. what they don't realize is that if you have a really low AR.. this is a plus because it raises your AR 2 points instead of the typical one. The algorithm will never give you more than 3 on any scheduled block. For 3 percent bad orders versus the 97 percent good.. you can easily guess which one I'm doing. And when I get one of those orders that I'm absolutely no way going to do I decline..if it comes back a second time I take my hit and shut it down.. cause they don't like that.. and the algorithm from that point is usually going to be a drain on my AR..I'd rather shut it down for that time slot. It totally works for me and I'm no big market

      Here in L.A. a high paying order can be anywhere on average from $12-$18, but there are also one's that can go as high as $35-$45.
      But you will rarely see those much higher ones without your AR being over 60%.

    Okay but the new tier system is def weeding out cherry pickers in my market in southern calfornia. If you dont have at least 70% here you cannot be a full time dasher and be profitable. I still cherry pick. My ar is at 28% which is super high for me, but i only do this as a side gig at breakfast and lunch rush. I have friends who are platinum tier dashers and once their ar takes a hit unless it is rush time hours they will sit with no orders coming to them. Doordash says that ar doesnt matter, but in reality it does because the sytem is definitely favoring the dashers with a higher ar. I know every market is different, but the tier system is really having an impact on dashers here where i am. I'm literally one of the only dashers i know in my area who still cherry picks and i feel so bad for the full timers getting screwed with having to take shity orders.

      I dont think its all about Mr Xu, I think organizations slide people like him into big chains, because people like him cooperate with big powers that want to keep humanity in control. Gig apps do have the power to pay us more, but isnt it funny that all gig apps will pay 20-22an hr on avg. Granted you have awesome days but the majority is that. I think the investors (judges) agreed with politicians and big tech, and value us as 22 dollar an hour machines. For one if we got paid more we would be breeding more humans like it was the 1980s again. Number 2 if we got paid more then everyone would want to do it which would be a double edged sword. This is the ultimate grind. Funny how CEOs of big corp chains make crazy insane money. Why cant they have a CEO that just makes 100k, I think a '''human''' could live just fine off of that. Maybe its the investors that like him because he's on there side! But just my theory as I could be wrong too.

      I'm approaching it from a completely theoretical standpoint. If every driver were to decline garbage, the pay would go up. But I get your point, there's always someone who doesn't know better or that doesn't care.

      @monkeytoung 3 месяца назад

      @ZachDrivesFast it's not about that people don't know better or don't care to the fact that they can keep on boarding people. Majority of areas dont seem to have a shorted of people wanting to do this most areas probably have a waiting list. I will never understand why people choose to do work for pay that is so aweful.

      @monkeytoung 3 месяца назад

      @sheed321 ya I know and sorry but that is a good thing if you ask me. It sux for everyone who is gonna loose money because these companies where stupid, greedy and vastly over hired vs just paying decent. It's pretty obvious they don't need the huge amount of people on these platforms as they have. At the end of the day not everyone can do this kind of work there is just not enough work out there for every who is willing to do it. So like over half the people are gonna have to go back to traditional work because it's never gona work or pay decent till there near close the proper amount of drivers when pay is decent.
