Your trip through Big Bend brought back fond memories of our several canoe and rafting trips over the years. We visited Boquillas a few times, and on one trip one of our canoes tipped over at that very spot in front of Mexican viewers and troops in jeeps who got a good laugh. You did much more hiking than we did....

Fantastic video that captured the spirit and majesty of this national wonder. I rode my motorcycle for a camping adventure a few years back and your trail footage really brought back wonderful memories. Your videos also help the newbie (like me) to get an idea on how RV life works. Best to you and John.

Another great vid. We stayed at all three campgrounds for a couple nights each as you suggested in reverse order. Glad you did the Windows hike to the Chisos Pouroff, but apparently you weren’t as impressed by it as we were. Had some amazing weather changes at Chisos too with hail that washed out a bicycling group and left an accumulation of snowlike hail along the park road the next day. We had no problem with the road to Chisos in our 25 ft. Sprinter class C, but did use every inch of our campsite. Didn’t cross into Mexico here, but did go to the crossing and it reminded me of a couple of the remote border stations into Alaska and Canada. Wanted to go to the Hot Springs, but the River was up and it was submerged. Learning of the history of the area and seeing the geography gave us perspective on the craziness of the Border Wall. Can’t believe It had taken over 60 years to go to Big Bend for the first time!
On hiking poles I’ve using a twist-style monopod for years, but sometimes you can get grit in the works. My Debby uses the $30 carbon-fiber trekking poles from Costco.
Interesting music choices. Love the spaghetti western music throughout. The March at the end was a bit of a surprise. Safe travels.

That was Mexico's National Anthem at the end. We wanted to do the Hot Springs too but ran out of time. We will go back for sure. Maybe when it is a little warmer and we have done more advanced planning.

We will be visiting in spring 2022 but Chisos Basin campground is currently scheduled to be closed when we are there. We pull a small teardrop, and we “on the fence” regarding our ability to use that campground but the decision was made for us. Instead we will be at Rio Grande for four nights and then heading to Guadalupe Mtn. Can’t wait!

Texas Parks= Depending on what direction you are heading toward or back from you may enjoy Huntsville State Park just North of Houston,Tx. on I-45South. It's small, but really nice. Also Galveston State park is good for a day or over night camping with Galveston bay lapping at your feet. Also you can ride the Ferry over to Bolivar Island from Galveston and watch the dolphins jumping in front of the Ferry. It's only a 20 min. ride.

I have been to Marfa twice. I love it there. I have also used that same laundry with the coffeeshop attached. I can recommend some things there too. The upgraded hotel at the south end of the main street is really nice. Great bar, Great food. I you leave town going east there is a sort of divey bar called the Lost Stallion. I recommend it. Very friendly. Dogs are free to run around there. Also farther east on highway 90 there is a drive off developed viewing area for the Mystical Marfa Lights. If you're not familiar with them, google them. Very cool. I saw the lights! Then I went to the town of Marathon. The RV park there is very popular place for astronomers. They are very friendly and happy to show you the skies through their telescopes if you're interested. The skies there are some of the darkest in the U.S.

    • @FromShetoMe

LOL. We haven't had any issues with the diesel per se, but....John accidentally put gasoline in the tank today. $145 to get it drained. We haven't had any issues with DEF except that you need to add it and know that DEF has a very short shelf life. Most people aren't aware and I will do a video on the subject when we get home. Yes, I think we would go with the gas version of the 2.2 as long as we could get the suspension upgraded (Agile is just beginning to look at that for the Ford). But we do love the power of the diesel. And I really want a compressor fridge!!!

Hey guys. Owen of VTL. About your video artifacts/distortion. I'm assuming you are using Final Cut Pro X. I, along with a few other creators, have had the same thing happen. It's always when mixing iPhone X or 11 footage with our Sony A6400 or Osmo Pocket footage. I believe it's a known issue. I spent one 3am night fighting this and no matter how I tried to fix it it would show up again somewhere else in the render. I fixed it by just switching back to editing on my iPad Pro with Luma Fusion and Adobe Rush. Very frustrating I know. Sorry. Wish I had a real answer. If you google it you'll see lots of posts saying to make sure all your codecs and drivers are updated. On the road that is close to impossible to accomplish. That said... another great video and location. Our viewers think we should park beside you guys soon and we agree. Lots of love from our van to yours. Hope you solve the artifact issue and if you do let me know how 😂👍

Great video! I live in East Texas and go to Big Bend almost every year (going back there in April). If you are heading east and planning to use Texas state parks, there are a lot of nice parks especially around the hill country. Some of my videos contain some Texas state parks and surrounding areas (I don't make videos for other people like you do, so they might be boring). I just saw your other video of Guadalupe/McDonald Observatory/Davis Mountains. Guadalupe is on my bucket list. Loved your video. We thoroughly enjoyed Big Bend too, but we were unable to camp in the park, so we stayed in Terlingua. While you were in the park, did you do any off road excursions like balancing rock? If you did, were you able to use your onboard air compressor? Also, would you have used the compressor on dirt roads in Alaska if you had it then? Pam and I are deciding about this purchase because we are going to Alaska this summer. We are getting the bigger tires, spare, and spare tire mount. We very much appreciate your input as we are using your Alaska videos as our main resource for our trip. Thanks so much for all the help you and John are giving to us all through your videos.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  4 года назад

We did not do any off reading in BB. Will save it for next time. In Alaska we would have used it on the road to Kennecott/McCarthy but it would certainly have given us more peace of mind. There are lots of roads out west where it would be nice. If you have a place to store an air compressor then you could save some money with a portable unit. But we don’t have any extra room. Have a great trip.

Welcome to the community. We have 200 amp hours of lithium batteries. We can go several days in a row if we keep it on low. We also have a pure sine wave inverter that is a must. When we drive we are charging the batteries so it isn't usually a problem. If the batteries go dead, we can always turn on the generator, but we avoid that because they are noisy. The 200 watts of solar on our roof don't do much in the winter (we'll be looking into either a tilt kit or having them wired in parallel instead of series.

Not happy in MD today as it was 27 when we woke up. Missing our FL WX. Does your hat collapse flat? John needs a lot of food as he seems to only speaks when he is hungry! Enjoyed the video and travel safe!

We are also missing the warmth of Orlando. 41 last night. Colder tonight. Take me home to California! Hat seems to take quite a beating.

From She to Me Well, hopefully it will start warming up again. Heading back to FL in mid-March. Guess it’s just a prep course for us to get ready for the Alaska/Canada WX this spring/summer. Question on hat is does it collapse for storage when not wearing it?

@@timsmith7625 I've been squashing it the entire trip. And it just seems to bounce back so I would say yes. The brand is Sunday Afternoons. I got it at Lake Mead National Recreation Area and they had one other color.

Spoke with Winnebago parts Dept in Forrest City, Iowa and asked if they install Compressor refrigerators and he wanted to know the model of the fridge in the Accent. He also said that a compressor fridge draws a lot of energy. A stronger inverter would have to replace the existing one. This is the number that I called, 1-641 585 3213. Hope this information is useful to you.

You want a 12 volt compressor fridge, not one that runs on 110 power. Ours is a 3 way Dometic RM 8505 which has issues at high altitudes and temps over 70 or so.

@@FromShetoMe I was asking for you because of the problems you and a lot of other campers are having with that awful Dometic Fridge. I don't own an RV. My time has come and gone as I am 83 yrs old. I travel vicariously through the great videos. Thank you.

@@FromShetoMe I don't own an RV. I called for you and others who are having problems with that awful Dometic fridge and might be looking to replace it with a Compressor fridge. I am 83 yrs old and many times I travel vicariously through the wonderful videos. I wrote another paragraph but it disappeared, hope that I am not repeating my self.

Mary Mills Thank you, how very nice. The biggest problem at this point is finding a fridge that fits and a competent technician to do the work. We have learned to live with it by carrying a small cooler with ice for sensitive perishable foods. Our next RV, should there be one, will have a compressor fridge. Pleasureway is already putting one in its new Ford chassis models.
