I fondly remember having this figure as a kid. It was a lot of fun collecting these figures from JP1 to JPIII. Sadly I no longer have any of my older toys which were either sold off before we moved and/or baby of them just broke. I am definitely going to try to obtain the Chaos Effect version someday if I can ever find one. While most vintage figures are just too expensive and/or too difficult to get in great condition, I will definitely make some exceptions here and there since many of them are still worth owning.
Glad to see you’re back! This figure is certainly one of the high points of the JURASSIC franchise in toy form. I’ll always prefer the red Rex for nostalgic reasons, but I think this figure pretty objectively surpasses it.
I'm glad you mentioned the Mattel T Rex thing. Depsite how good a lot of them look, theyre usually too similar, and Kenner's T Rexes always looked different. Red, Bull, Thrasher, Young, Junior, and the hatchling ones too, all looked different and did different things too. Kenner cared. Mattel does too, but there are missed opportunities, and of course stupid ideas like the upcoming Epic Evolution T Rex, which is definitely terrible Im also tired if just seeing Rexy, Mattel rarely does T Rexes that are different. The best we had was the Desert T Rex, the Red Rex, and the two Buck Rexes, but even then only the Red Rex is good. Mattel needs to so different colors at least
We really needed that Hammond Collection Buck T-Rex release, shame what happened there. I love Mattel's stuff, but if they arent going to change up the sculpts or look of their T-Rex figures they should slow down on the releases, ive lost count on how many there are out there.
@@jurassicreviewschannel Definitely too many, but not nearly as many as their Velociraptors for sure. But at least there are different colors and stuff, but even then Mattel needs to do different. Thankfully they SOMETIMES listen to fans
My favorite thrasher has to be the one from chaos effect since it had so many wacky and colorful pattern. While most will disagree with me and say that the lost world is better since chaos effect wasn't exactly popular but the color choice that Kenner chose was something awesome and unique to me. It almost reminds me of those deadly poison dart frogs indicating that the thrasher is beautiful but deadly. anyway another awesome review @Jurassic Reviews.
yeah, i love all the wacky colours and patterns in the chaos effect dinosaurs, while the original paintjobs are great but personally find some of CE repaints better. it adds a pop of colour to our collections.
As a kid that grew up from the 2000s I never had a chance to get any toys like this at my time. But The kids that grew up through the 90s you were the lucky ones.
So happy to say i finally acquired a Thrasher T-Rex! Got one loose from eBay, and I love it! I totally see why you listed it as the best Jurassic Park T Rex toy! It’s paint job and sculpt still hold up and it’s real feel skin you can’t beat! I do have to rest it in something in order to keep it standing though but it’s just nice to own one now!
My dumbass self threw it away because I put sand in its mouth. I was seven at the time and I was pretending the sand was blood. At the time I obviously did not know how awesome the toy was. I now barely remember me holding it in my hand! If I were to go back in time I would have plucked the toy out of the garbage and taken it with me to the present day.
Nice review as always, out of these I own the chaos effect version. I got it by sure luck, I found it at a collectible store for $100. At the time all the ones available on eBay were worth about three times that, so I’d consider that a good deal.
I managed to get the chaos effect Rex as a kid. I found it on clearance at Toys R Us. It was my first T-Rex but was always unhappy with its unnatural look. I remember I barely played with it out of the box and the leg fell off. I gave up on it and threw it away. Still kicking myself in the ass for that one. 😅😢
In my opinion, this is Kenner's best t rex. It is the most accurate, and holds a candle to many of Mattel's modern rexes. Some proportions are a bit off, like the neck being too thick because of the action feature, but besides that it is pretty spot on.
I’m curious, how are you going to cover the scutosaurus and estemmenosuchus two pack set? Are you going to do a review for each or just one video covering the whole set?
I tried finding the thrasher T. rex on eBay, but, all I’m getting from those figures are $100 to $150 dollars. It’s not really easy getting something that becomes too rare and expensive.
yeah same. i'm from australia and the better kenner stuff are impossible to find here so 90% of the stuff i get from the US, i could've bought myself a thrasher but the main problem is shipping costs, its so disappointing seeing one of a decent price but the shipping prices are just horrific like over $100.
I can see in the photo that you got the Ian Malcolm glider also the Jurassic Park Kenner figures were perfect I wish I grew up with Jurassic park Kenner toys all I grew up was with the terrible Jurassic World toys by hasbro 😔🤮🤢
Nice catch, there’s also a few more in that photo but we hadn’t opened them yet. One was a velociraptor and another was the larger pachycephalosaurus. And yeah the Hasbro Jurassic World stuff was awful, glad Mattel is treating it with more care, though I do miss these Kenner sculpts.

I have 2 loose Thrashers. One is heavier than the other (ticker plastic) and has an extra green coloring. So i think the Thrasher T-Rex has a variant.
It just might, always learning new things about this old stuff.
