    Hello Saints! My name is Jeff McCullough and I'm a Christian Pastor.

    I have lived both Protestant and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints experiences in my youth, and loved them both!! But I had a special experience at a very young age of knowing a difference in what I felt at a sacrament meeting. It was special, safe, peaceful and loving…among other things. I chose to listen to what was in my mind and heart, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have never been sorry. I feel the peaceful and purifying power of the atonement during the sacrament, as I repent and am cleansed from sin, because of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. It has led me into life and salvation, and also exaltation as I live to be worthy of those blessings. Right now, what comforts me, is knowing that Christ is my friend…we never need to be afraid of him…and we can follow him by learning how to obey.

    I can only speak for myself, but I have always been taught that scripture is the word of God; His mind and His will revealed to His children to guide them through this crazy life back to His eternal presence. If scripture is God revealing His mind and will to His children, then the canon of Scripture can never be truly closed, for God will never cease to guide us. God is truth. Whatever He speaks is truth. Whatever He speaks is scripture, for Scripture is by definition His word. Therefore, reason leads me to believe that the canon is open, and that God will continue to speak, teach, guide, and direct us until ALL of His purposes have been accomplished. I am so grateful that His word has not ended because I need Him to keep guiding me.

      Of course God is still speaking and teaching and leading us, but His doctrine is unchanged because everything culminated in Jesus' perfect sacrifice for our sins on his cross. We are grafted in to a Hebrew story begun when God called Abraham, and said that Ab's faith was reckoned to God as righteousness. It's His righteousness that we put on when we choose to follow Christ, it is not our own righteousness because we have none. We are all sinners saved by grace.

    Pastor Jeff, I would love a quick response video. Various people both inside and outside Mormonism have stated that your real motivation is to help build a bridge to help people leave Mormonism and transition into Protestantism. Would you say this is your ultimate end goal? With Mormons feeling okay to convert to Protestantism? Can you speak a bit about this claim specifically?

    • @janet-Spirit_of_the_Living_God
      @janet-Spirit_of_the_Living_God 26 дней назад +2

      Considering that some here have stated that they thought his "big announcement" was that they thought Jeff was converting to LDS, I would say both sides will forever believe they are the more correct way to understand God, Salvation, Jesus, Holy Ghost/Spirit, revelation, modern prophets, salvation, marriage, etc., so that answer would be yes, for everyone involved in this project, deep deep down in their own convictions, whether LDS or Evangelical. Wouldn't you agree?

    • @Zeett09
      @Zeett09 26 дней назад +3

      He’s stated his end goal which is to increase understanding of each other’s faith, increase mutual respect and communication and reduce antagonism. There is no direct conversion goal. That said I don’t like the fact that both sides (at times) express a need to be more True or Right than the other side. That stance creates a slightly distasteful underbelly to the whole enterprise. It’s like trying to respectfully understand a Yankee fan if you are a Red Sox fan. Emotions ultimately take over.

    • @tarabates7088
      @tarabates7088 26 дней назад +4

      This is what I've gathered, after watching Pastor Jeff in guest appearances on podcasts and videos on this channel. I don't speak for Pastor Jeff and at the end of the day, it is speculation. But in hopes it could be helpful in some way:
      1) My impression is that Pastor Jeff believes it is difficult, but not impossible, to be a saved, born-again Christian while remaining a practicing member of the LDS church. That the Lord looks on the heart, and that if the heart of an LDS person has come to an awareness of their need for a savior, and surrenders their heart to Jesus with the understanding that Christ's atonement alone is what saves them, then that is enough to save their soul in God's eyes. And Pastor Jeff would like to encourage this to happen for people who are currently in the LDS tradition and have no intention to leave.
      2) In an early video, Pastor Jeff asked Protestants to consider the possibility that if they care more about being doctrinally correct or winning an argument than loving the person in front of them, they may not be in right standing before God. That if belief differences or cultural differences become so large or scary in their minds that they can't love a LDSaint or be in relationship with them, they're not truly following Jesus' teachings. So, I think Pastor Jeff has a concern for the souls of some Protestants who may be in this situation and is reaching out to them through this channel.
      3) Given Pastor Jeff’s belief that Protestant doctrine is more true, and his belief that it’s difficult to be saved in the LDS tradition, he would welcome LDS people to investigate and embrace Protestantism. Not that he is trying to “convert” people, but that he’s trying to give friendship and kindness and accurate information, and let the Lord work in people’s hearts. This is especially important given the internal struggles happening within LDS culture right now and large number of people experiencing crises of faith. Hello Saints invites anyone interested to keep an open mind toward Protestant Christianity before they give up on organized religion altogether. Many LDS people may have grown up with incorrect ("straw man") understandings about what Protestants actually believe, and Pastor Jeff is working to get a more accurate, nuanced understanding of Protestantism out there for those who may, eventually, decide to change faiths.

There are five levels of teaching layered in Hebrew scripture that end at the mystery level….to understand the deeper levels, It’s going to take more than one reading just like the Bible. The chiasm’s that are interwoven throughout the entire book or nothing short of amazing considering the entire book was translated in just a short period of time, I’d love to see you do a video just on the chiastic structures that are quite prolific and still being found within the text. He is charismatic for a reason, he plans on being one of the top leaders in the church as to his fascination of the prophets and apostles. Listen carefully, he isn't just adoring them, he is making his rounds trying to know top people to become one of them. It has always been his goal no matter what church it's been. You'd never know what is true at any one time. That's crazy for a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. How could Jesus call Himself the Way the Truth and the Life, that no one comes to the Father except thru Him, if prophets are going to come later and invalidate him? • @jessekoeven3757

      @janet-Spirit_of_the_Living_God you misunderstood my previous comment. Prophets before Christ pointed to him as the way, Christ testified of himself as the way, and the apostles testified of him as the way after his death and Ascension. It is consistent with this pattern that modern prophets would continue the trend. It would be contrary to this pattern for Christ to be the end of it, especially as he told the apostles to continue the testifying work of the prophets and not do as you claim.
      EDIT: In other words, if you are right, then Christ would not have called the Twelve and commissioned their work of testifying of him before the nations. He would have ended it then and there. The fact that he did not do this totally contradicts your claim. Please be consistent with what the scriptures indicate as truth.

      Yes, I agree that God called His prophets in the OT up thru Jesus' personal prophet of John the Baptist, but Jeff is explaining that in these Last Days (before Jesus' return) God chose to speak only thru His son. Jesus is the pinnacle of revelation, and when the NT is read completely with the guidance of the Holy Spirit it is clear that Jesus has fulfilled the important functions of Prophet, Priest and King, which is why His sacrifice saves us completely. There are so many verses in the NT that make this very evident, but I start with Hebrews 1.

    These conversations will be so good!
    I think that the Protestant tenets are not "different" but are incomplete and fit inside of LDS tenets which makes sense in that God has revealed more and clarified more in recent days. So the Protestant tenets (the ones not totally corrupted by man) are 100% correct because God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow - but they are incomplete.
    Protestants, Catholics, etc. are not yet privy to these details because they are still holding on to only the old scriptures and artifacts. This would be like the faithful, chosen people of the Old Testament - clinging stubbornly to only the things of the old Testament - even as Jesus Christ, himself, in person, reveals "new" laws and details which eventually became the New Testament. It seems God wanted to move from a people preparing for a Savior, to a people who followed the Savior. If you only believe the Old Testament, then you miss out on SO MUCH INFORMATION regarding who the Messiah is, how he would have you live a life a faith etc. But if you only believe in the New Testament (and Old Testament) then you miss out on SO MUCH INFORMATION regarding who the God the father, the Messiah, the Savior Jesus Christ are, the role of families, the value of covenants, and how much he has loved and worked with people of faith throughout the whole world and not just Israel!
    Today, we are a worldwide people preparing for Christ's return. For nearly 200 yrs, the heavens have been re-opened and Jesus Christ has restored a church where he has revealed so much more which has brought clarity and correction to old Scriptures and continues to reveal so much more every day. Those people who believe in the Old Testament and the New Testament but not other Testaments are missing out on SO MUCH INFORMATION!
    The Old Testament is the word of God
    The New Testament is the word of God
    The Other Testaments are the words of God (Book of Mormon being one of them)
    The more holy Testaments we have inspired by God of God, the Messiah, the Savior Jesus Christ - the more we can more fully understand. The less testaments a person has faith in, the less they understand of God, the Messiah, the Savior Jesus Christ and what they would have us know.

    The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' foundational history is comprised of pretty much every sect of Christianity (especially early Methodists, Presbyterian, Baptist, Pentecostal and others) who accepted this Church and were sanctified, blessed and accomplished incredible things as they exercise phenomenal faith in building the Kingdom. This Church is phenomenal and never ceases to amaze me. Leo Tolstoy called it "The American religion" and the passages of scripture in the Doctrine & Covenants regarding the divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America certainly are a part of that. So is the journey of the Church in America from East to West. Virtually every single convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first 50 plus years were Bible believing Christians and that includes Joseph Smith, Jr. Dr. Hugh Nibley said that the Restored Church of Jesus Christ grew up in the shadow of the Protestant Church just as the early Church grew up in the shadow of the Synagogue during Christ's mortal ministry.

    While I am sure the summit will be a success, as considered by the organizers, I suspect viewers will simply see the two different "Standards" or "Rulers of Measurement" between traditional Evangelical Christianity and the LDS faith's version of Mormonism. Since none of the LDS presenters are general authorities, whatever they share isn't considered official - unless they are sharing official Conference talks, and then providing supplemental commentary. If what the viewers take away from the presentations is the clear differentiation of Standards of Measurement on doctrinal and theological topics between the two faiths, then I can see a successful outcome for the 10 day event.

To think there will ever be a bridge built between us and mainstream Christian’s, or that they will ever accept us is no different than thinking that Jesus Christ and Satan will hug it out and come together. I welcome the reciprocal opportunity Jeff is providing to fight criticism with curiosity. I don't see this any different than a missionary in the field trying to explain what Latter-day Saints believe or me asking my non-member friends to help me understand what they believe. Latter-day Saints want to share the Gospel with others. If non-members are closed minded to learning more, no one would ever get baptized as a Latter-day Saint either.

      Mormonism is a misnomer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that originated from the enemies of the Church who wanted to convince others that Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints weren’t Christian’s. Because the nickname was based on The Book of Mormon which readers knew testifies of Jesus, many Saints weren’t bothered by it and started mocking their enemies in the way they referred to them as “Mormons.” Eventually it became a matter of pride to identify oneself with the Book of Mormon, and for many years members of the Church also casually called themselves Mormons. But in doing so they ignored the fact that the Book of Mormon itself records Christ’s teaching to only call the church in his name and not after a man like Mormon. So, in order to avoid condemnation for forsaking the teachings of the Book of Mormon modern prophets have reemphasized the need to call the Church by it’s full name or to abbreviate it as the Church of Jesus Christ, The Church of Christ, Christ’s restored church, etc.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" I told myself, I am a Pastor, why would i judge this Mormons as devil, when i haven't pray to God about their doctrine. I began to plead with God, begging Him to please answers my prayers because if will judge the Mormons to be of the devil, and found out that i was wrong, the same judgment will fall unto me. The answer is now a history. I testify that Jesus Christ lives, and by the power of the Holy Ghost, i know the Book of Mormon testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ that He was the God of Israel. By reading the Book of Mormon, a person will get closer to Jesus Christ by keeping His commandments through loving our neighbors and serving with no expect in return. I am now serving in the Church of Jesus Christ, voluntarily with no paid ministry or paid clergy. Its all donated labor voluntary services, unlike when i was a Pastor, we get paid and have salary. There seems to be a fundamental disconnect on your part, Pastor, where you seem to think that it's an either or about the nature of God. Let me put it plainly. We, Latter-Day Saints Believe that God is a transcendent being who has a physical body of flesh and bone, but that the physical nature of His substance is that it is in a state of Immortality, and incorruptible. His Body and Spirit are united together in such a way that He has properties of both a physical body and a spirit. This is not uncommon among Evangelicals to have an inadequate idea about the sacred nature of our bodies, because sin often enters in, and that they have a very Greek perspective, where Spirit is superior to flesh, because of its undying nature, and their limited imaginations on the subject because of life's observations, and prophets are quite uncommon among men so revelation comes infrequently. However, we learned from the empty tomb is that Jesus Himself took his Body with Him when He was risen again to life by the Father. The apostles could touch Him, but Jesus came into the room without using the door as well, He being transcendent was able to enter in by another way, like a spirit does. Jesus' Body is now a permanent addition to his nature, and will never be separated from it again, in His great word, He says, I am alive forevermore! It is because of the sacred nature of our bodies that we are commanded to keep them pure, because our bodies are on loan to us, as a Gift to us through the plan of Salvation, and everything we put in our flesh will have an affect on the purity of our spirits.

    The collection of 66 Books (the Bible, the Book of Books) were properly recognized by the early church as the complete authoritative canon of Scriptures not to be added to or subtracted from. From Wikipedia: "A biblical canon or canon of scripture is a set of texts which a particular religious community regards as authoritative scripture. The English word 'canon' comes from the Greek, meaning 'rule' or 'measuring stick'." The Books underwent stringent rigid spiritual tests to be approved as inspired by God.
    "The early church councils applied several basic standards in recognizing whether a book was inspired by God. They were the tests of canonicity : was the Book inspired by God. Was the Book authoritative; prophetic; does it have the authority of a spiritual leader of Israel like an Old Testament prophet, king, judge, scribe, or a New Testament original apostle of the church or an associate; is it authentic with a consistent revelation of truth; is it dynamic with life changing power; were the contents of a spiritual nature; was there evidence of divine inspiration? These books were not included in the canon of Scriptures being rejected as being not inspired by God since not passing the rigid tests required) The Catholic and Greek church accepts them: Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, Song of the Three Children, Story of Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, Prayer of Manasses, 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees. Luther removed 1 Esdras and 2 Esdras altogether." Wikipedia ( cults always rely on other writtings from their founders they say are of God but they do not pass the test Bible books pass. The founder of Mormonism Joseph Smith was no holy man of God. He had lengthy rap sheet. He had like 40 wives and even married a 14 year old girl if my memory serves me correctly. This is not a picture of a Bible prophet. One way or another cults always say their way is the only way. However the Bible always affirms His witness to the truth through multiple witnesses like through many protestant churches and many in the Catholic church who had discovered the true Way.

      Does it include Jacob who had 2 wives and 2 concubines and who loved the pretty younger sister more than the older one that only had nice eyes?
      Does it include David who had 700 wives and 300 concubines? Should we consider all the writings of David and miracles that happened to him in the Bible to be fake?
      The King James Bible describes Moses as having married a Midianite as well as an Ethiopian. Does that mean that we can’t trust the Books of Moses that make up the first 5 books of the Bible?
      What about the Angel in Genesis 16? He told a woman to return back to her husband and his other wives to be part of an abusive polygamous relationship. Was he a fake Angel?
      I can respect your opinion about polygamy, but don’t pretend it comes from the Bible when it doesn’t. I have too much respect for that book to let statements like that go unchallenged when I see it.

    Sadly I don't believe that you have held those who are speaking to what the Mormon church holds as truth and doctrine. These people who you have on your channel all have nuanced beliefs and statements that are not fully held within their own churches teachings.

    Be aware that Joseph Smith actually added verses to his own Inspired Version of the Holy Bible (I'm not talking about BofM, DOC and Pear of Great Price). Look at what verses he added to our previously written books of the Holy Bible, W H Y he added them and then consider this warning God gave us:
    Do not add to His words,
    Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
    Proverbs 30:6

      I was shocked to see all the words he added to Isaiah, even including a prophecy about himself! No wonder the LDS church no longer uses his "inspired version" but chooses to stick with the KJV, it's just too embarrassing, I think, otherwise, why NOT use the version your prophet penned?

      @nrtnrt6676 To answer your inquiries. The JST was commissioned by Jesus Christ to expand the scriptures, increase understanding, and improve uniformity between the testimonies given by the Bible and the rest of Canonized Scripture. The truth is that many records were lost or deliberately destroyed between the various disasters wrough upon the Kingdoms of the Hebrews throughout their history in both the Old and New Testaments, as such, their testimony is incomplete and their God desired that incompletion to be corrected. Thus, he inspired a prophet to restore that which had been lost.

      @nrtnrt6676 mostly the OT. The New Testament is modified primarily for understanding purposes. Many modern readers and scholars tend to observe the NT through a hellenized lens since most of the surviving manuscripts are in koine Greek, when it would have been written in Aramaic or Hebrew and faithful Jews tended to eschew all things Greek, including their philosophies, including a disanthropomorphised view of deity.
