That mashup of "Alright" and "No Woman No Cry" was CHEF'S. KISS. Jesus CHRIST the chills.
Having tems sing it too 🤌
@@endubless didn’t know that wow. I wonder if this soundtrack will be given the same care as the first one
@@ca20mn yeah hopefully they brought back Kendrick Lamar for it, he did an amazing job for the first soundtrack.
@@endubless I listen to both the score and the soundtrack AT LEAST once a month
That sound plebish and weak.
I feel like Chadwick’s passing might’ve pushed this director and cast to make an even better movie than the 1st BP movie, like his passing and their remaining love for him pushed them to new heights creatively. As if this movie will be their last gift to Chadwick.
100% if he didn’t pass I don’t think this movie would have been good
@@WFKGW so it's not as good if he were in it?
❤
Lol stop it
(Laughs in corpo mutant rat king)
That Angela Bassett line breaks my heart every time I've seen this.
"I am queen of the most powerful nation in the world. And my entire family is gone."
The pure heartbreak in her delivery rips straight into your soul. Bassett is one of the most incredible, amazing, and criminally underrated actors of this generation.
Tear up every time I hear her say those lines.
she is also american, they should have cast african actors.
Her entire family is gone? That must make the daughter feel good.
What about the daughter is she going to die? lol
@@leroyd3480 if that speech happens during the blip it makes sense since Shiri was also blipped.
Being of Mexican descent; I LOVE the direction they are taking Namor and Atlantis. The whole Aztec/Mayan take on it is amazing!
It's visually gorgeous thus far and a nice way to differentiate from what Aquaman has done!
Really adds to the world-building!
Being Mexican, I'm not convinced, but I'll wait until I see the movie to render an opinion. I do hate the casting choice for Namor, Tenoch Huerta is a racist and misogynist, and Marvel dropped the ball with his casting.
Same! I am excited to see it as well. I got a little emotional when I realized the Aztec/Mayan theme was going to be in it.
@@AdrianDeLeonSaldivar proof? I've never heard of him being that.
Have a good day everyone
Hi Adam! 😁
Stub your toe
If the movie opens with T'Challa's funeral, I hope we see some of the Avengers there (Bucky, Sam Wilson, Rhody, Bruce Bannar)
That’s a good observation
This aged well
@@seabuschan5677 who was there spoil me please
@@adi_2 no one in his comment was there but there are 2 people that are unexpectedly there.
We don't.
This trailer had me all over the place. I was ugly crying but every time I saw Namor the submariner I squealed in joy.
I think the correct analogy isn't the recasting of Bruce Banner, or of Spiderman, but of the non-recasting of The Joker after Heath Ledger's passing.
It's safe to assume that the Joker would've at the very least cameoed in The Dark Knight Rises if it weren't for Heath Ledger's passing, but I still believe they made the better choice with that and with Black Panther 2.
@@m0stlyGh0sty Agree & Agree 💯
I don't. For the story you want to tell it doesn't really matter why the actor isn't in the next movie. It is the real world stuff that is the deciding factor here. It if what Holden said: if RDJ died after filming Civil War fo example, would the have made infinity war and endgame without Iron Man? That would have been really tough to do since Iron Man was arguably the most important character. With Black Panther it might be ok, since his story wasn't too developed yet. Either way, both decisions would have been fine in this case i think
Recast Tchalla. No fictional character died because the actor died
I'm not saying you should never recast a fictional character because the actor passed away, I'm just saying I think you should do on certain occasions, like say if said character has already served their purpose in the narrative, which is why Joker not being in the Dark Knight Rises isn't a problem.
The main villain is Namor the Sub-Mariner which is one of the oldest Marvel characters in existence and canonically one of the first mutants as well in the comics
I still think there's someone else behind their issue
k3n12ock You’re referring to who I think you are, right? 😏
@@k3n12ock yup, one Victor Von...
I think another factor in whether a character should be recast is simply time. If an actor who played batman dies and then several years pass, I think there's nothing wrong with casting a new batman. Especially considering that until the MCU, casting a new actor for a character usually also meant establishing a new continuity. But in the case of Chadwick Boseman, not only was he involved with a movie that is such a cultural touchstone, but we're also not that far from his passing or from the first Black Panther movie, and we're still in the same MCU continuity as well, so not only do I think it's more respectful to not recast the role, but the movie itself is faced with an opportunity to honor the actor by portraying how that fictional world responds to the character's passing as well, and to reflect on the impact that both the actor and character had.
Perfectly stated. I think in the future we could explore a T'Challa from another universe and have him live out the other comic arcs
Recast Tchalla
you're right but i haven't forgiven you for rayman in smash
@@Meowingt0n blast from the past
I loved the way this read. Honestly summed up how I feel also perfectly.
I am sad we may not get TChalla’s full story. I wanted to see his relationship with Storm. The cast said that Chadwick was number 1 on the call sheet every day.
RIP, Chadwick Boseman. WAKANDA FOREVER ✊
Props to Angela Bassett, that one line of dialogue and it's delivery by her made me feel all the emotion i needed with that trailer. Such a legendary actress.
Chadwick was still Number 1 on the call sheet for filming. He was there in spirit. He's in this movie. His spirit is in this film. They made it FOR him.
I cannot wait.
You are forgiven Holden.
I hope this is comment of the day next video 😂
I love that black Twitter has already decided we’re wearing white to the movie 😂 this will be another celebration of life for both Chadwick and the Black Panther
How cool would it be if there were pics from around the world in Nov of ppl wearing something white?!
Seems more like exploitation than celebration to me.
@@paulmartin7705 You must not know the cultural background to wearing white when it comes down to death then.
@@Therealcania Whatever. T'Challa didn't need to die also.
@@paulmartin7705 I agree with you, and so do a lot of others including Chadwick's own brother. He thinks the role should be recast as well so we can continue getting T'Challa stories.
This trailer upon first viewing had me in tears. When you see different scenes of the characters crying, that wasn’t just acting. That was RAW, TRUE emotion from those actors and actresses involved. I personally have been someone who’s leaned more so towards recasting T’Challa (if not for this movie, at least keeping the door open down the road). But this trailer gave me a lot of hope for the movie overall
I’m really excited to get to see Namor in live action, although he’s quite a bit different from his comic book counterpart. And without getting into spoilers, this trailer confirmed A LOT of plot elements from a leak that came out a while back. One scene in particular is MAJOR foreshadowing, but I’m not gonna get into that too much. Those who’ve seen the leak will know who and what I’m talking about
I think they should DEFINITELY RECAST TCHALLA…after this movie bring in another T’Challa through variants and the multiverse. I think Chadwick would have wanted his character to live on. If you listen to his interviews it’s almost like he was dropping hints that he would have wanted the character to live on because it is that important to live on and not die off.
His brother said he would’ve have wanted the role to be recasted
My guess is T'Challa is dead in this film. And it's his funeral.
@@derred723 they don’t need to kill him because Chadwick died
IMO, its different from Batman because of the interconnected universe… its a tough decision. Super excited though
Also, Bruce Wayne IS Batman. In the vast majority of source material, there is only one character donning the cowl. There's already evidence of this being a title that's been passed down for centuries.
@@jmacmall i mean tchalla is the BP. Shuri has a short stint in the comics, but ik what u mean
@@jmacmall yes but where the comics pick up the character, T'Challa for all intents and purposes is Black Panther. And people keep bringing up Shiri becoming BP. For one, that was very brief, and two that version sucked in the comics.

@@3Rayfire what??? No it didn't that shit was wayyyy better than the film and featured tons more characters.

Hey Holden! Loved the reaction man
We appreciate your honesty!
The sound editing was top tier hahaha
This movie is a must watch at the theaters 🔥 ganna be in tears
Why do fans need to be in tears. Chadwick Boseman's funeral was on RUclips. It's not necessary for T'Challa to die with him.
@@paulmartin7705 Hollywood has never killed a fictional character because the actor died
@@tmac731 Not necessarily true. They've done it for senior citizen actors who were part of an ensemble-not the lead. Examples-Jim Davis-Jock Ewing on Dallas and Phil Carey, Asa Buchanan on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
@@paulmartin7705 well of the fictional character is old and the actor died of old age then that makes sense. They didn’t kill the mother of the Matrix when the actress died, they recasted her for matrix 3. The actor in Harry Potter was recasted, Spartacus had the same thing
@@tmac731 I agree. I just mentioned the few times they did let the character die with the actor.
I love this channel!
I watch this trailer pretty often anyway. The song is so f'ing good
The add-in sound effects for 7:04-7:07 have me rolling 😂
I just happen to live in Chadwick’s hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. he’s done so much for the local communities & kids here. Wakanda Forever, My King 🤴🏿🙌🍻
I feel that because of the impact and importance of the first Black Panther movie, and also Chadwick/T'challas role in that, this was the right thing to do. Even if there was a lot more story to be told with T'challa, it also is kind of in line with many of the other heroes currently in the MCU passing their mantles to a next generation.
And with the multiverse there is still ways to tell T'challas stories down the road.
Given that Holden has already seen it, shouldn’t the title of this video start with ‘My Wife Watches...’?
It’s great to see how well spoken and up to speed she is on everything. She’s definitely grown a lot as a fan throughout these reactions and that’s really cool! Keep up the good work guys
This is one of those circumstances that is so different from the usual recasting situations, and I'm glad you see it as one.
For every Superman, Batman, Joker, Spider-Man and Hulk, all those actors played either a different version, or were simply replaced. Chadwick was suddenly taken from us, while leaving a cultural impact to many lives, including cast and crew. I completely understand wanting a recast, because there are 50 years of Black Panther stories to mine from, but Ryan Coolger, the crew, and cast came to decision to not recast because they still feel he's there. Maybe we'll get more T'Challa in the future, but not a mainline one, and if it's from somewhere else, it will be some time till then.
We will most likely only see t'challa in the what if animated series going forward in the mcu since it's an alternate reality.
Goosebumps everytime I watch that trailer can't wait and totally agree had enough of the comedy in every film and TV show
Marvel has done a good job from the start of anticipating that they only have actors for a certain number of movies and planning for the in-continuity hand off of the role to another character. Obviously, this happened with Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, etc. I think they always planned to see the mantle of Black Panther handed off to another character eventually, and real world events are just speeding that up.
I agree on passing the mantle of BP, just not this soon
As a black man myself but also a lover of black panther since I was a kid. I think they should just cast a T’challa variant and have him be the new MCU BP and have the Storm storyline with him as well!!
It took watching this trailer and reactions to it like 50 times before Angela Bassett’s “my entire family is gone” didn’t make me cry.
RIP King OX-
Goosebumps
Chadwick Boseman played T'Challa in four films and voiced him in "What If...?" We absolutely did not get enough of him, but it's not like it was Terrance Howard where he was on screen once and vanished.
They were right, in my opinion, to not recast or replace him for this sequel, but going forward after this movie I think it's fair game.
For real!! The Russo brothers wanted a full animated series of Star Lord T’Challa & would have loved to see it too
I get chills every time I see this trailer or hear the music. I cannot wait for this film to be released!!!
I bring tissues to go see this. I'm not ready 😭😭😭
The lesson is. DONT WAIT TO REACT TO TRAILERS. lol. They’re 3 mins or less. 😂 🤦🏾♂️
Jen, as always is Spot On!
I’m definitely bringing tissues when I go watch this in theaters
I love yall
Yours is the only review I've seen out of like 25 or more reviews that cut off the music durring the trailer. Do they have some kind of protection you don't have? Honest question. I'm just curious.
Jens way of pronouncing words with 't' in them like cerTain and imporTanT will never not be somewhat jarring 😂
Don't worry Holden we're only here for Jen's reaction.
Chadwick Boseman was a phenomenal talent. I've seen so many of his movies and felt he was great in all of them. I remember making a post on social media about his passing. I was adopted and recently reconnected with my biological family. One of my "new" aunts responded to my post about his passing to inform me that he was a distant cousin. It is what it is, but I think it would have been an experience to have known him through family reunions as a person without the context of his career.
What an emotional trailer ❤️ Goosebumps on the music and visuals ❤️ I think it will be an epic movie 👍
Recasting would have been awful in this instance. Terrance Howard, Edward Norton, thats all way different. Chadwick brought something to this character. Love, passion, heart. You
can't just replace this. Also with Batman, that was a character that has been around since the 60s. You can't really compare that either. Plus, nobody is saying never ever cast someone else as T Challa. But for the MCU it would be wrong. If anyone ever makes a Black Panther movie outside of the MCU of course they will and should recast
T'Challa has been around in the comcis since 1966. He's been a-list for about maybe 25 years. There's still more of a story to tell. The pro-recasters aren't necessarily saying he had to be in BP2, just that killing him was the lazy option and a convoluted way to honor Chadwick. Really, it's honoring someone who poured their heart into a role to let the role die with him. Someone who wanted people to see the role and not the actor? He was a proponent of giving opportunities for black actors. So this door should be closed? I guess the roles of Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall should die with Chadwick as well.
I feel like Chadwick boseman brought this character to life and I don't know if he would've wanted himself to be the reason the character would have to retire. I feel like he would've wanted the character to live on. But obviously I didn't know him personally so idk
Finally!
Hey Holden and Jenna, I don’t know if you knew but even Chadwick boseman’s family said that it would’ve been fine if they had recasted T’Challa in order to move forward with that character. There’s a rumor, which I strongly believe, that doctor doom is the real villain of this film and is putting wakanda and Atlantis against each other as part of his master plan. And Holden, thanks for liking my comment on your breakdown video of Batman an innocent guy.
I’m glad you’re able to catch up. Kevin Smith interviewed the guy who edited the trailer. He was so excited to be involved.

WAKANDA FOREVER
There are other African Americans who can represent and shine in the role as Tchalla and Chadwick would not have wanted tchalla to die with him. No way.
Especially with the multiverse and 3 different looking Peter Parker’s, sooo simple to have another tchalla come into 616
They doing so much... New Black Panther(comic Shiru took over but maybe not this time around),the baby born underway with winged feet is Namor. Namor was the first MUTANT and Atlantean. It takes place before and after the snap by the queens comment of losing her entire family. and singer TEM'S rendition of "NO Woman No Cry" is amazing and then mix with Kendrick Lamar's song "Alight" was awesome. Can't wait

Whatever T'Challa story from the comics you might want to adapt can be given to whoever the new Black Panther is with just some minor tweaks.
Reaction Starts at 5:29
Some day we may be able to recast him and tell more of his story, but right now a whole community is mourning their representation on screen that they waited forever for. Right now is the time to give the space for everyone to mourn him and organically move forward.
It's already been announced that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but I would absolutely recommend that Ryan Coogler direct Avengers: Secret Wars. The work he did on Black Panther was exceptional, and Wakanda Forever looks incredibly epic and emotional. He's proven that he can handle movies of such grand scope and meaning, which is what Avengers movies need.
I am going to love to see the behind the scenes for this movie
Oh dang I was wondering why you guys weren’t reacting to certain things 😂 now I know why
I think should have recasted T'challa because he is too of a more important character to the future of the mcu. Even Chadwick would have being happy if someone continues his legacy as T'challa. This was one the best teasers marvel have put on. So excited for Black Panther 2.
I did not notice the first time, but was that an Iron Heart she was cutting out?
This is one of Marvel's BEST trailers... can't wait for the movie as theres going to be SO MANY TEARS
That trailer gives me chills every time I watch it. I think they did the right thing in not recasting T'Chala, you just weren't going to get the same heart that Chadwick brought with a different actor.
finally!!!!!!!1
The idea of recasting tchalla could still work I think. ESPECIALLY with secret wars on the horizon. My theory is that we’ll have a unified MCU afterwards with a new established core hero group. They could just easily be like “oops multiverse black Panther got stuck in 616, guess he’s the main one now” or something along the lines
Marvel must go in that route. Yaya Abdul mateen from Aquaman would be perfect
This movie gonna have WAKANDA VS ATLANTIS gonna be epic
My only problem with the Namor casting in this movie is that the actor the cast isn't drop dead handsome like the character is in the comics Namor in the comics is the Chad of the marvel universe
Chad is more of an attitude
This trailer is deadass everything I wanted it to be. This movie boutta be fire🔥
3:06 Counterpoint to If Keaton had died after Batman '89 - that was one movie not a massive shared franchise. Yes Marvel had recast several roles, Banner/Hulk, Rhodie/War Machine, Cassie Lang (3 times now i think - they aged up the character in Endgame and i think a new actor is taking over in part 3) but those were due to salery disputes or actors being difficult to work with, not because they died. So retiring a character due to death is acceptable.
I'm bringing tissues with me opening night because this movie will make me tear up nonstop
Much like Holden I've been wondering how they're gonna handle this! I can't wait to see it! Hopefully an MCU movie can finally make me cry.
I can't wait to see Namor as well! Gonna be a *GREAT* movie!
Chadwick’s Bosemans brother wanted them to recast T’Challa
They just showed this trailer in my local cinema when I went to see the Spider-Man No Way Home More Fun cut.
That’s strong acting Angela Bassett her line towards the end is deep I felt everything she said I almost choked up
Cool
man i love DC so much
Both points of view are valid. On one hand, Black Panther is such an important character that he shouldn’t die with the arguably incomparable Chadwick Boseman. On the other, Chadwick was so perfect for that role. It’s hard to imagine anyone else in it, much as it’s hard to imagine anyone but Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. I go back and forth much like Holden.
loved this video, emotional for me because of Chadwick's death, i think that is the same with everyone..
Wakanda is traditionally a landlocked country in the comics and also in the Black Panther movie. I'm wondering did they change suddenly it to a coastal country for this movie?
Also, rumor has it that Namor and company may not be Atlanteans in the MCU so as not to get some movie-goers confused with Aquaman.
I’m Most Excited About Seeing The Start Of Rhi Rhis Story As Ironheart.
NAMOR!!!!!! Like seriously, can you believe it? Super excited about this film. Rest in power, Chadwick.
There really is no reason for T'Challa to die along with Boseman. They didn't have to immediately recast him for BP2, but he could be living a civilian life with Nakia or off in space.
No
yeah, but having the king of Wakanda completely off-the-grid while his nation is at war with another powerful nation? it wouldn't carry over well.
@@alexdorisca They didn't need to do this storyline.
@@paulmartin7705 Namor was always going to be introduced in BP2, so even if they adapted another story, he would’ve had to be a major part of the story in some way, shape or form.
@@alexdorisca Considering the fact that he's long-lived, this movie could've told T'Chaka's story. Namor vs. T'Chaka.
I'm still wondering on how they are going to write him out of the MCU, like what happend to him offscreen since we last saw him survive End Game. I do think making it so he died is the best move since there is obviously no chance of the character returning, I also hope it's done with respect and honor.
The trailer pretty much seems to be showing a funeral, a lot of pain from his family, wonder what will they say be the cause. In a few years they could bring the character back through multiverse but not for a while I guess.
Wakanda Forever is suppose to wrap up Phase 4 so I really think it will set the tone for phase 5 and hoping it’s more serious. Thanks for the reactions!
I think we will have a few black panthers in the movie. I think the queen mother will take up the shroud of the black panther at the beginning which looks to take place during the blip. Then i think we will have Shuri or nikkira take up the mantle by the end of the film.
I feel like Chadwick wouldn’t want Tchala to be killed off his character is too important. They just need to choose very very wisely of who they choose to cast
I get that people don't want a recast because it feels disrespectful to Chadwick and to the Black Panther character. I just disagree. We've seen huge stars die before and their iconic character lives on. Take Heath Ledger's Joker. People agree he was a great almost perfect Joker and his tragic death left some people thinking no one will ever do it better so why bother. It never seemed realistic though because you can't retire a character forever. For some reason people think the mcu is just going to go on forever. It's not. Eventually it'll stall out then they'll stop making movies as frequent and then a few years will go by and they'll consider a completely fresh reboot. The multiverse allows them to do this. So 20-30 years from now we will get another Iron Man, Capt America, and all Avengers origins stories told again.
"My entire family is gone", hadn't considered the possible extent of that statement, whether it may just be to the queen's knowledge at the time that Shuri is also gone and then possibly later reappears taking on the mantle and title of Black Panther.
I can’t wait for this movie. This is the first Marvel property in a while that I’ve been truly counting down the days excited for!
I still think most of the crying and sadness is right after the Blip. I think it brings the queen over the edge and she makes some decisions that pissed off Atlantians and we get this movie.
Namor i think is going to be the main antagonist, he’s king of the Atlanteans in the MCU and could possibly go to war with Wakanda, which will be really exciting to see
I thought the same thing at first, but when I noticed Attuma in the trailer I realized Namor might have to face a threat to his kingdom bigger than the Wakandans. Attuma might be manipulating Namor into a war with Wakanda as part of some secret power play. Attuma has always been more of a villain than Namor, like the Ocean Master to Namor’s Aquaman, especially if he has a problem with a half-mutant being king. When it comes to Namor, the hero/villain thing has never been black-and-white
Black Panther not only will be the 30th movie in the MCU but it’ll also end phase 4.
THIS TRAILER IS EASILY ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
well technically holden when you were talking about recasting black panther you brought up the hulk the orignal actor to play the hulk in a big budget movie was Eric Bana and then they recasted him when they broughtthe hulk to the MCU in phase one with edward norton and then mark ruffalo i love norton as an actor but i think eric bana was a better one norton doesnt have the physical appearance of bruce banner now i think ruffalo is the best though please let me know what you think
✊🏿
I think in any other case recasting is the sensible thing to do. In Black Panther, Chadwick is T'Challa and vise versa. Yes, even the fictional character has evolved a symbiotic relationship with their actor. It's the reason why the joker didn't work initially and why they created a new timeline/universe for Joaquin Phoenix
