It definitely feels like a deeper dive into the Seulgi & Irene thing they had going on. Seulgi brings the sort of dangerous and “threatening” aspect while Irene brought the cleanliness and refinement (especially the vogueing in Naughty) this solo very much feels like they’re picking her apart in specific aspects and expanding upon it. With Seulgi and Irene you get Monster and when you take Irene out of the picture you get 28 Reasons. I love it!

Someone also said that this may be a part of the kwangya lore. The starting instrumental of 28 reasons sounds like aespa’s illusion which was black mamba’s pov. Also, seulgi has always been suspected to be the black mamba. These theories are getting interesting. 😅
OOOOHHHHH THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE, because at the beginning of monster mv, seulgi’s the one who controls irene but at the end irene takes over and she now controls seulgi. which means seulgi tried to manipulate irene’s mind but got herself manipulated instead and now it is a battle between her inner-self (her bad side and good side).

With that vocal she styled frm high note to low register it's very violin masterpiece kind of play it's tingling and light&smooth Then next second she growl like what violin aggressive part of play.

This is the first time I’ve heard seulgi’s vocals so aggressive and with that one part where she does the vocal growl, amazing.

"Every frame is a painting" is exactly what Seulgi is trying to do. She told us that because this is "her baby" therefore she showed us all her talent and what she's good and that and she's good at art. She's very hands on with this mv and I'm so proud of her for that

I have a feeling that will be one the biggest names in kpop, not Red Velvet Seulgi, but Seulgi herself. She has everything a soloist should have. All the talents required, creativity, and passion. You can feel the passion oozing out from ever aspect of this comeback.
I wished seulgi MV will enter MTV music awards next year... I mean her 28 REASON MV is a whole new level in kpop for female music industry this generation as soloist it's not just about her MV but as in whole concept esp lyrics... . Nominated is already a big achievement coz we know it's a fan voting so yeah.. Wished that for seulgi.

I've seen people shitting on how 'simple' the MV looks like and I wish they could watch this video and know why it looks unlike the regular kpop mvs. Plus the moment I saw the MV I knew Seulgi herself wanted this film-like simplicity, like this cleancut sophistication. Mother was mothering real hard 🛐
The MV is simple because the song is simple. Sometimes less = more !
Let's be real, a lot of Kpop fans don't know why they want want they say they want. Seulgi is a performer first and foremost. Drowning her in CG and huge sets when we know her for her aura and choreo would have been a huge injustice to her. Some people just don't get it.
I think people sre disappointed because the trailer was so cinematic with so different sets and storyline while this mv is a basic kpop mv with beauty shots and dance shots. Its not bad but people expected something new and interesting because of the trailer
@@Maria-nv7bk People set themselves up like that. Every album trailer is like that and is meant to sell the whole album. And no, the music video does have meaning?? Again, just because it's not flashy doesn't mean there isn't a story. Seulgi didn't want it to be over the top. The location shots are gorgeous. And did you not want her to have choreo or look hot?? It's a fine music video and doesn't warrant this much shit from people.
I don't think people basically understand the depth of these videos. If one syncs the lyrics with the video itself, it would be a revelation. A reactor on Reacttothek's channel interpreted this song as referring to Seulgi's (and in extension all humans) two sides. And the MV plays out those two sides. And that the reason it's called 28 reasons is because she is 28 and has been with herself for 28 years giving her 28 reasons. It gave me chills. This is one of the best MVs I have seen till now because of its commitment to its theme of the song. So it's not just gorgeous shots. The shots have a meaning behind them. Which links up with the message written in the end.

I still can't believe that I finally got to witness Seulgi's solo debut. I remember being mesmerized by her pre-debut videos and years later she has become my ultimate bias. It's just the beginning of her solo career but I have full faith she will have fun and rock the stage in the years to come. Yass we got 'temptress' Seulgi after seeing her fluffy Ddeulgi side.

Seulgi wouldn't have let these locations and shots in if she didn't want them herself. She said so herself in the interviews. Her body language is clear and enticing through-out. Anything more around her would have been too much. Everything is focused on her, where you can't run or hide from what she's doing. People wanted blood or gore from her for horror, but sometimes the scariest thing around you is yourself. It's perfect. This set was visualized by her and delivered with the art in mind.

i truly have not seen another female soloist go in such a dark but clean direction with their music since perhaps gain with paradise lost, but something about this whole song, video and comeback is so deeply rooted in the image seulgi curates for herself and i’ve been so obsessed

This is everything I expected from Seulgi, with perfect execution. I feel like this is a mix of Changmin and Boa styles, and only Seulgi could pull this off.
I also immediately thought about Max Changmin's "Devil" during my first watch, and that got me into a whole spiral of thoughts about how Taemin's "Idea" also has that same duality, and I ended up freaking out about how a lot of the SM soloists lately either play into the "divinity" theme (Key, Taeyeon, Kai, BoA ft. Xin) or into the "villain" theme (Max, Taemin, Seulgi, Hyo), sometimes sharing that dark tone we also get here with Seulgi! I don't know if this is intentional, if there's a bigger vision behind it or if the artists are simply sharing a similar interest in these darker concepts, but I love it regardless and I honestly think it also plays really well into the whole Kwangya universe they have going on!

I think the cheapest set with just grey background is to show that the "evil" Seulgi is in somewhere dark and vacuity. Opposed to the "good" Seulgi's place is an aesthetic field (it look like where the soul will come after death). That led to the clause "Good and Evil coexist within one person..."
If you look at the music video, sometimes the one who sleeps and is chained up is Seulgi who is wearing a white shirt (human good side), but also sometimes the one who is sleeping is Seulgi who is wearing a black shirt (human bad side (evil)). That's the visual they try to explain at the end of the video
Exactly! The one side is chained to other. That's why Seulgi's twin image was used. To deliver that message.

This is what happens when you get one of the (MY opinion) versatile female vocalists, as well as one of the most distinctive voices in kpop, working with one of the greatest production teams. It’s amazing
I’m so happy that Seulgi’s solo follows Red Velvet’s dark velvet side. It’s always been her sound within the group.
Wendy followed the ballad velvet side (OOTN). Joy was summer red (Red Flavor). Seulgi did the darker R&B velvet (Psycho and Bad Boy).

It’s not only consistent with red velvet’s musicscape but also their visual themes and storytelling so far. As we know Seulgi has had that villain/evil queen persona for a while now (e.g: psycho, monster and FMR).

This song is so good 😭😭😭 I didn't expect that 90s western girlgroup type sound mixed with heavenly SM mixing. It's so incredibly amazing I can't even put it into words. The mv, choreo, styling and of course Seulgi's absolutely unreal vocals just take this to the next level.

Yesss you've captured everything I feel about this solo debut. I'm deep in the reacts rabbit hole but Seulgi slayed us so hard that I haven't heard anyone really talk much about the film-making aspects of the video, so this was extremely satisfying. Except for the first line and the English whisper moment, yeah it's EVERYTHING I would have expected, but delivered at a level that still is so impressive it blew me away. I also think you're the first to comment on the duality being expressed MUSICALLY and not just visually or lyrically, so that is super cool.
there were visuals in the teaser, mood sampler and trailer that I believe wasn't included in the MV and it made it so much more interesting than it already was

This song/mv really justifiying Seulgi as a all rounder. The way she dance, sing, the aura oozing out of her just showing whats shes capable of and this actually reminds me alot of monster vibes accept this one is one level creepier. Also i dont know about you but i get alots of Taemin vibes out of her too and i believed if they give her amount of time she can be a succesfull soloist too, ex like Taeyeon of GG or BoA

Please, I was shaking with excitement when her concepts pictures were released and she certainly did not disappoint. Seulgi + dark concepts is a dangerous combination istg. It almost feels like she's a siren here dragging the readers deeper into the chaos that is her. I also love how her dark side have her light side on a chain 😭😭
I feel like most reaction videos can take a couple of days for PD to post but this one came out hours afterwards. I know PD was seated & ready & lives up to that "I love Seulgi" line at the beginning.

This is the scariest I've seen Seulgi be in my entire life, and she absolutely nailed this concept. I've been waiting to see Seulgi have a solo debut, and this is all I could ever ask for. Her dancing and this entire MV was just art, and beautiful art. This shows us what Seulgi is truly capable of, and we been known about this woman's talent for almost 8 years now. But this shows us her true ability to show us the kind of amazing dancer she is and always has been.

Am I the only one who saw direct lyrical connections to Taemin's Criminal? It's like someone had written a song from the side of the Criminal. The more I read the lyrics the more they feel like a mirror. I am not sure it was done on purpose but it's HOT
I actually thought of criminal too while reading the lyrics. In criminal, taemin was the victim who fell in love with the villain while seulgi is the villain in 28 reasons. It felt like seulgi was the one playing with taemin's feelings. Definitely mirror of each other for me too. Maybe both songs have the same songwriter.

Red Velvet always gives me this horror vibe, slightly off, kinda unsettling but alluring, like you're caught in a spider's web. It's a fantastic song. 💜 Edit: The braids and red zipper thong outfit gives me Christina Aguilera Dirty era vibes.
Not going to lie, I really didn't expect this sort of sound from her, but I'm all for it. It didn't feel forced and she totally owned it. I'm really impressed and happy for her. I hope everyone likes it as much as I do.
