I am so excited to share the second completed space in my new (yet very old) home! This room was formerly the dining room for the downstairs unit. After converting the duplex into a single family home, I wanted to make the layouts feel different by turning rooms into unique spaces such as this movie/game room!

Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed. Leave any future video ideas you would like to see in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe!
Ok but can we just talk about the reveal footage? That was some quality filming right there and really just showcased this freaking magazine cover of a room off perfectly! Love that dark and moody vibe
Yees!! Was just about to post a comment saying this same thing. Looove the footage style, great quality and such an amazing room styling. Great job, Drew!❤
Those angles and shots were perfection
Drew, as a thrifty designer, DIYer and problem-solver myself, I must say your idea to put the screen in those two retrofitted drawers was nothing shy of a stroke of genius. Absolutely brilliant. I also love the curtains and was pleasantly surprised at how good that couch looks in that fabric. You have definitely honed your craft and have really found your own, very individual and original sense of style. I honestly am not a fan of browns or such a monochromatic rooms, but you have successfully created a warm, cozy and cocoon-like den that has won me over. I’m so proud of you and so impressed with how much you’ve grown in the few years that I’ve been watching your videos. You have a genuine talent and natural gift. Keep these videos coming!! How have you been sleeping lately? You appear to be so happy and well-rested.
Hi Kristin!! Thanks so much for the sweet comment! So kind of you to write such thoughtful comments. I actually ended up going on an antidepressant just got my sleep anxiety which helped out TREMENDOUSLY
Drew you have an amazing vision.
I honestly thought the whole room felt too dark (just my opinion) until the reveal proved me so wrong. It was just perfect and gorgeous! I don't know how you do this every time! You are just so gifted at this. I am loving watching you design your home! It's been an amazing journey and I can't wait to see what's next.
Honestly, I showed this to my husband last week (before the reveal) and now we want to paint out entire home dark. I just love the moodiness.
@@chantellschmahl Oh yes, it's definitely a personal preference thing, and I think a dark moody room can be incredible. I'm sure it will look amazing when you paint! I was just trying to emphasize how big an impact those reveal moments had on me. Because once it was all put together, It was absolutely stunning!
Your design choices are so bold but they always pay off! I would literally spend hours in this room
Ok, I wasn't feeling it all the way until the reveal, it just felt so heavy and so dark, but somehow you just pulled it all together! It's beautiful! You have an insane talent!
I LOVE the way the screen comes out and pulls up but tucked away while not being used. What a space saver Drew!!
As someone who doesn't really like visible screens (the large black screen kinda creeps me out), I'd definitely do this when I get my own space! Love this idea! 💖
So glad you didn’t remove those great doors for the tv. Looks great
Loved everything! What did you hook the screen to the top of the cabinet with? I would hang out in this room. The shelf completed it. Well done, as aways!
Ok this room is definitely magazine cover worthy, I am always in awe of the end product. Just love this!
Absolutely 100% Agee! Gorgeous!
I'm a total dark and moody girl so I love this. All the pieces do feel really big in the size of the space, but it makes it feel even more like a cave. If I ever get the opportunity to decorate like that I'd do the same but with different colors
Dying the fabric for your "curtains" was a brilliant idea! Looks great! totally get the JA chair from Crate and Barrel... ITS PERFECT! I can visualize it already :-) Seeing you make your own valance takes me back... WAY BACK! I used to make my own window treatments and even made them for my clients when I first started. Well done Drew :-)The REVEAL of the room is out of this world... I LOVE IT !!! RR
My two favorite channels interacting. I love this.
Wow!
Queen!
Love Rebecca 🥰 very classy and beautiful designs.
But you have to admit Rebecca you want him to add more curtain panels! Lol I learned that from you😅
This has to be one of my favorite rooms, Drew. It looks so cozy and comfortable. An area where you just cuddle, relax and completely unwind. The sofa is amazing. I think I am obsessed. LOL.
Thank you!!!
Love this room , what a vibe
Perfectly said ❤
I appreciate that you addressed everyone's concerns over the hutch. The room turned out great! Definitely a warm, cozy vibe, perfect for a movie/game room. The dye job on the curtains turned out really well and the curtains with the valance look great. Love the 3-tiered lamp, the light adds a nice soft, warm glow. I also like how the wall sconce echos the lines and boxes of the floor lamp. Once again a beautifully done room.
Drew, my mind is simply blown, your ability to pull off DIY just keeps getting better, keep SERVING
What if you closed off that kitchen access by the hutch, even if it's just visually? I think it only feels cramped because the opening is there but would feel cozy if it was a "wall" (or closed door)?
On that thought wave add a door that looks just like the wall then problem is solved or cut the back off the unit by Two inches then put on another backing however easiest is putting in a door that looks exactly like the wall
But Love it' As is 💝
As it's a great movie room and the Lights Sconces are Beautiful 😍 & those shelves are a clever edition and that chair and light next to it is amazing 😍
Totally great Job 😘🥰
Great Touches....💝
1000%!
I love how the room looks dark and moody but still looks soft at the same time! So pretty!
This room is so beautiful it literally makes me emotional 😅😭 anyone else?! Drew is absolutely brilliant 👏
I LOVE how you incorporated the projector into the top drawers. Soooo cool! That unit will be great for your games & just keeping junk tucked away. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Not sure how you changed the lighting when you filmed the reveal, but it made all of the difference. Now I can see how the woods and fabrics work together and the walls look warm and inviting instead of just dark. The screen in the drawer is brilliant, too. Enjoy your new space!!
To address the small walkway space to the kitchen, just scootch the cabinet a few inches towards the double doors. It can take it.
the ONLY thing in the room that bothers me, is that hutch needs to be moved closer to the doors. I know there is a vent there, but there is plenty of room to move it over some. It just looks like it "off" where it's placed now.
@@sbodolus you both got to it before I could. I think it should come over to balance the weight of the sofa across the room, and so the screen is more visible to anyone sitting on the short side of the sofa
I agree. Moving it closer to the window is the only way it would make it sit in the room a bit better, but to be honest, I think it’s in the wrong place altogether. It looks a bit silly blocking the doorway like that.
Personally, I would fend shooey it into another room altogether.
I agree with these statements as well, such a shame there’s a vent there. If it were my home I’d probably just block the vent anyway and hope for the best because it’s current position bothers me so much
💯 the distance from the couch arm to the hutch just makes me feel anxious. Even if there weren’t a doorway and there was no need to get to that back corner, it would still stress me out.
This room is gorgeous. I love how every piece came together to create such a moody theatre room and it is definitely theatre.
It all looks so nice! I have to say, my favorite piece is the candle wall sconce. That is just stunning. It is so much fun and inspiring to watch your videos. Thanks Drew.
I really love this room Drew. The only suggestion I would make is: What about adding a piece trim mounding to the front edge of your shelf. I feel like this would bump up the wow factor and make the shelf appear more substantial without adding weight.
Great idea. Just a half round trim would really soften the look.
@@lzrd8460 i would ONLY do half round but he'd have to curve it around that round edge
Just a tip, it sounds like using some lighting for filming and using the settings on your camera would eliminate the issues you had with filming this week :) you can achieve a true to colour shot if you spend a little time playing around with it
I couldn’t love this space more Drew!
You seem…I don’t know, more mature in your vision and style choices lately. I’ve loved watching this journey and appreciate you taking us along for the ride.
What I appreciate about you is that you have funds, but you're still SO crafty- if you CAN do it yourself, you do it yourself! I find that so refreshing! ❤
Love! I feel like closing off that entry to the kitchen by the hutch will resolve the feeling of it being out of scale. The DIY valence is something I will be stealing!
I'm imagining a velvet curtain to match the beautiful wall color and then have an option to tie it back and drape kinda like a theatre curtain would
@@audreyschmitt200 perfect
The movie room turned out amazing, the colors and patterns do look like an vintage movie theater, you just keep getting better and better at what you do!
This turned out so good!!! I can’t lie at first when I saw the hutch I thought it looked more green and was like how is they going to match but it could have been the lighting at that moment because it all looks so perfect!
That idea deserves a standing ovation! Well done both of you!
I can't believe you and Arvin were in the same room! I follow you both. How awesome. And the little brackets did make me crazy, too. So glad you covered those. That was an absolute ingenious idea with the screen.
He's so nice!! It was great meeting him
Yes I follow Arvin too love his channel
So glad you got to meet Arvin. He is one of my favorites, as are you! Love, love, love the movie room. So glad you have Justin to help you. Please tell me you two are an item. If not, you should be. You work well together and look great together.
I was so excited about y’all meeting too! ❤
This room is so beautiful!
Same both are subscribed to
WOW! This room is perfect ! Not one of your usual decors at all. It has a warm, soothing ,romantic vibe. The hutch idea was so smart, maybe find some battery operated candles for safety. oh would love seeing how the room looks with the ceiling light turned on. Congrats to you Drew, that mind of yours was working overtime!
That video screen!!! Everything except the accent chair, really. Bravisimo!
You could also add speakers on the back shelf to create a surround sound for watching movies! Love the finished look Drew!!
I love watching your creative vision unfold. The t.v. solution is genius. The mullions add character. The curtains add warmth and texture along with function. Love the chair ,light, table area by the windows. The accessories/decor add the cherry on top! Thanks to Justin for all of his help too!
Thank you so much Denise!
@@lonefox linen fabric, classic & timeless. Your vision is incredible!!
Drew it’s your room, in your home, you are a brilliant interior designer, Never feel you have to address any critics , loving your journey 💙🙏🏻🇬🇧xxx
This is such a warm, welcoming, beautiful room. I think it is my favorite so far. It just screams old Hollywood glam in the modern world, with candles. Couldn't be better and no, the hutch is not too big.
Obsessed with the hutch, the candelabra, and the pot color combo *chefs kiss*. Curtains to cover the kitchen doorway would make this so polished! You could hang on the kitchen side and have hooks to keep them out of the way when necessary. Especially since you mentioned its not the only access point, I think it would be such a nice touch.
Another 🤔 thought has hit could make that doorway look like another bookshelf that opens into the next room as a door 😂🤣😂
I'm sorry Drew but that is one of THE BEST rooms you have ever done, I absolutely love her
It’s too good. Not fair that all this talent is in one person 😂😂❤️❤️❤️
From the resourceful shopping trips, helpful tips, creative diy projects, inspired filming techniques, research, to your open, generous, brilliant vibe that makes creativity accessible to all of us in so many ways - watching your channel makes my day - thank you!
I like the way the shelf came out. After sometime though those screws might tear out since all the weight of the items are actually on the screw and not the L bracket. The same idea could work if you sat the board on top of the L bracket and drilled the screws in from the bottom but you would have to chip out the thickness of the metal so that it sits flush against the wall how you have it, but then the weight is actually transferred to the bracket vs the screw. Not sure if that makes sense. Love how your home is turning out!
The items on top are honestly pretty light and it’s screwed into 5 studs so I think it will be alright for the time being!
I came to say the same thing. Weight on the shelf pulls at the screws holding the brackets in the wall when they're on top. If you put the brackets UNDER the shelf, weight pushes the brackets towards the wall and actually makes it more secure. I wouldn't put anything heavy on that shelf with the brackets on the top side, Drew. A plant pot with water can be pretty heavy. Stick to faux greenery on your shelf. And small lightweight doodads.🥴👍
The bracket is definitely not going anywhere! It’s the shelf that is gonna come straight down cuz it doesn’t have the support from the bracket underneath of it😅 that’s the only thing though everything else is absolutely beautiful and perfect!
Love reading everyone's advice.
If my dad had mounted it he would have used those screws with the plastic sleeve. I don't know the name. But Drew did even better by finding the stud.
(And talk about studs, can we talk about Justin?) 😆 Sorry, I just appreciate beauty in all forms. I'm old, but not dead.
Depend on if he hit studs or not.
What I love about LF is that you are never afraid to take on a project. Your ideas are so creative. I adore this room!
Beautiful Drew! You are going to enjoy this room so much! Don't you love that, unlike an open floor plan, where you generally have one color flowing throughout, you have individual rooms in this old home so you can use different wall colors and and still have everything flow perfectly. Great job!!!
Omfg I am absolutely obsessed I love how unique and how it’s not your typical movie room it really is such a vibe, love love love all the pieces you used as well in the space !! Your really crushing this whole house renovation truly everything is just breathtaking I’m really obsessed!! ❤ hehe
I am loving the fact that there are people that love light absorbing colors. It just shows we all share so much in common but the details are different for each of us. Very glad you are happy in this room.
Love the moodiness of this room and the panels in the hutch was so cleaver, as well as the screen in the drawers. You may want to go with battery operated tapers since they are over your fabric sofa. I wouldn't want melted wax getting on anything. That way you have the moody look without the mess. Everything is turning out so well. Congrats on your progress.
I think a sliding door to close off the kitchen from tv room would be luxurious. It’s so beautiful!! Excellent!!
Three words “ fab u lous” I love how you are not wasting time, every week there is a new update or a completed room, love it!!!!!❤❤❤❤ Can’t wait for your next video❤❤❤❤❤
You never cease to amaze me! You are so clever and have such a good eye. Definitely a great place to hang out with good friends, and all the little touches make you never want to leave. Well done!
You're such a sweet, kind, and wonderful human being Drew! Thank you for making me smile with every video you post! And seriously I love everything you do, your style is soooo amazing!
absolutely gorgeous room! It was fun seeing Arvin as well! All we needed was MaCenna to complete my favorite 3 stylist on here!😁
You should add a behind the couch table/shelf to set drinks, popcorn, etc on! The perfect lounging area :)
This room is soooo cozy and definitely a vibe. Seeing you hone in your style has been so inspiring to watch. This home especially is feeling very personal and authentically you, so different from everything else out there, it's so refreshing and encouraging to choose the things you love and put them together beautifully. This is the 3rd home I've watched you work on and it's just blowing my mind how far you've come and pushed yourself out of your comfort zone! Love it Drew!!
You are insanely talented! I love all of your designs, but this one is by far the most interesting. I am so happy that you have a house with many more rooms to design!!!!
Drew, Drew, Drew, you OUTDID yourself! This room is incredibly creative and gorgeous!!!!I want to pack my bags and live in it. It doesn't get any more elegant or cozy than this!!! You are going to be the next big designer for Crate and Barrell.I can see it now....
My favorite part of the room is the window section! I never would have thought of dying that fabric design.
Seriously, every room you design is a new art piece on itself… so much talent!!❤
I mean i juuust finished The macenna video, I love when it’s timed so perfectly!
Me too, back too back. Next macenna In drews hoise for her new pod cast...he wont say no🥰
You're designs always end up coming out so classy and sophisticated. I don't always know what you're thinking with some of the items you shop for, but I've learned to trust you and just wait for it. This turned out beautiful! So cozy, masculine, and perfect for your home. I love!
With the pendant light and moodiness, the room reminds me of the art deco movie theater of my childhood. Not my style, but I love it for Drew. Good job!
Future tip for hanging things on old plaster walls- Molly bolts are the best!! They save the day when you need to hang something heavy or that needs support and you can’t drill into a stud. They work wonders in my 110+ year old home with horse hair plaster walls. ❤️
As always, seeing a project mid way through the process can make certain elements seem like questionable choices, but when all the details come together, suddenly it all makes sense. I was one that wasn’t convinced about the hutch in there. Not because I thought it was too large …. It just seemed off. But I’ve seen you do your magic too many times by now to rush to judgement. With all the other elements in the room, it fits perfectly. It follows the lines, it adds balance with it’s height and the lighter tones of the wood. And seriously, the projector screen in the drawer was an inspired idea. That candelabra on the wall …. Gaaaa! GORGEOUS. That room feels so cozy I could see sitting on that chair by the windows being one of my favourite spots to have a cup of tea and read a good book on a rainy day. Fantastic. 😊
No one does reveal shots better than Drew! The quality is 🤌
My gosh I love it. You just get better and more clever with these ideas; the projector, the window treatment and everything! It's so much fun to watch it happen. Yes, don't be afraid of dark paint, I have SW Black Swan on my dining room walls with a soft white trim. And I love it. To you all your wonderful friends ❤️ I'm sure you've inspired many people to go ahead to make the changes they've been wanting in their spaces.
By far one of my favorite "movie rooms" I've seen! The projector idea is just so simple and brilliant. The reveal part was next level quality!
We are like soul sisters. Everytime I am confused with something you come up with solutions. Love you.
Been waiting impatiently for your next video! I need to stop being so invested, but I do admire your enthusiasm, your skills and creative ideas.
i love linen and wrinkles that go with.🌸 this room is amazing!!!🌸
Projector screen drawer, BRILLIANT!!!!
The room is gorgeous.
Oh Drew!!! The sofa, the lamp, the sconce, the drapes!!!! It is all just PERFECT 💜💜💜💜
The room looks great! You really made the most of the entire room. Love the look of the light in the corner with the round chair. Well done Drew and Justin!
I have my snacks ready
So glad you moved around so we could see more of the room so it was the camera angles. I ❤❤❤the wall sconce! You never disappoint.
That candelabra has a very Brutalist vibe, yet works with the Spanish home and moody vibe! Love it.
Brilliant! I love the hidden screen! 🇨🇦
The decor really brought this room together
TIP: GET BETTER LIGHTING by adding 2 or 3 wall lights ( SCONCE ) for reading - this could be some great retro 1940 lights that either swing out on arm from wall or are on cool scissor/accordion extension. Without better lighting you will struggle to feel comfortable AND all your wonderful color choices will be lost in the DARK. ALSO consider SOFFIT lighting - this is perfect for a small room. Creating several lighting sources in the MID ZONE (4-5' height) of room creates beautiful welcoming islands of light
Your movie and game room turned out fabulous! Love the dark and Moody vibes of the room, and I adore the oil painting!!! Well done!
WOW. This looks like something straight out of a magazine. 😍 Can’t wait to see you make over the other rooms in your home!
It honestly is so gorgeous, it's a million things I didn't think I would like, that you 100% sold me on! You are so talented. Such an amazing career ahead of you. I'm certain.
Stray observations:
(in no discernable order)
-The rafia cloth inserts looks like so much better than what was originally there.
- Not Drew practically wearing the curtains à la Sound of Music! (17:55)
- That woven chair moment!
- I literally audibly gasped when you pulled up the projection screen.
-"She's ready to be mounted! That was inappropriate, honestly." 😂
wow! I follow to you long time a go, and I love to see how you are growing as interiorist and how you're refining your style. Congrats.
Don't you love it when the things you've collected over the years can be used and it turns out perfectly!!! Congrats on your new space. Where's the popcorn and drinks!
It turned out beautifully! Great work.
Looks awesome except I feel like the entertainment cabinet is a little too big for the space. Otherwise love!
Drew! It looks so great! Your setup for the screen is brilliant! No one would ever guess it was in that drawer. You are so smart! I love your designs and think you have a very mature design style. Don't read that as "old" read that as "not childish". You're very talented.
What a fabulous room. Wasn't sure about the dark color but, again, your choice ended up being spot on. Drew, you just keep blowing me away with each room. You have definitely found your niche with decorating.
Go ahead......blow us away with another room......just keep us intrigued with your talent.
I love the scale of the hutch. It balances the large couch and compliments the dark and moody feel. LOVE IT
I love it too!
I think the scale of the room compared to the scale of the rest of the house is what’s making us say it’s too big. This room stands out as being more cozy and close together where the rest of the house, even the kitchen, is being designed to look more open
The chocolate brown and window treatment are so amazing!! Seriously! Are you going to cover your seat cushions with the plaid?! Cause you know, it would make it a super formal living room!!
Wow, it looks incredible! Everything just works beautifully, it belongs in a magazine!
I absolutely love the hutch in the room. It’s serving it’s purpose beautifully. I understand what some are saying, but we are not there & it’s always a lot different in person than it is through a camera lens. Everything in this room is perfection & I love hearing your thought process as you design a room from start to finish. Thank you for sharing so much with us. I am in love with this room- you did an awesome job! (I also love that you met Arvin Olano!! He’s another one of my favorites:)
I think you should close up that entrance to the kitchen anyway
The movie screen idea is genius 👏👏👏👏👏you are amazing, dyeing the fabric for the curtains and valance🤷You just create your vision...the color, the light, the sofa..this space = spectacular 👍🎉
What a great idea for the projector screen! I just love the coziness of this room. I just want to curl up and watch a movie. The room turned out beautiful! Love the different colors and fabrics that blend together so beautifully.
Yes I think the narrow exit to kitchen makes it look more cramped there with cabinet. Maybe make a barn door, or french door, there, and close, to hide it.
I feel like the hutch and the couch are both too big for that little room.
Love everything you do! I just have to tell you I love my helix mattress! My husband and I are in our 70’s and got it in the house and on the bed ourselves. My back feels better in the mornings, and I don’t toss around at all, I wake up where I went to sleep! I knew when your grandpa liked his I would get it too!
Movie room looks fabulous Drew. The projector screen idea is inspired :)
I generally enjoy your style very much; however, I can see why people are saying the unit is to big despite you being able to walk around. The proportionality of the entire room is off, it is not just the unit, but the table, area rug and couch. I think they are competing too much with one another. At the end of the day it is your house so who cares what I or others think. Just conceptually does not work.
Drew, i love love u and ur style but that cabinet is not right for the space
Okay, that cabinet with the screen is way too genius!! I love it!!
