❤😊 GREEN GIANT IN LE SUEUR MN MADE SOME OF THE FIRST PROTOTYPE CORN 🌽 HEADS FOR THE UNI IN THE OLD BRICK BARN !!! THE BARN IS STILL THERE !!! THE OLD GUYS ARE ALL GONE NOW 😞❤😊
That old bugger does have pretty darn good lighting. When I was a kid at home, I used to like working at night. Didn't matter if it was spring seeding, or haying, or combining or chopping corn. Just something about it I always liked. That was back in the 70's. My dad had Allis Chalmers tractors. D19, XT190 and a 220. I always noticed that when the sun went down in the spring and late fall, those old diesels back in those days picked up a few horsepower from that cool , dense air. A lot of times, you could shift up a gear at night if you were pulling something that was digging in the dirt. That was when there were no computers controlling the air/fuel mixture for emissions. Ahh the good old days.
I love the brother helping. Its how we do it. Because we want to. I have had people drive out into the field, ask me to come with them, and help them. Pay what ever I want. Crazy. Family first. I love this channel.
Nice Guernsey calf, I'd like to get a couple of those someday. My wife loves how they look, lol. I really liked the after hours picking, that's how farming should be, no computers, just hard work 👍👍
Great night time video, when ever we had extra corn that would not fit in the cribs .We would use the wooded snow fence and set one up on the cement pad by the silo . It is great to see the cribs full .
12:42............maybe because it is getting more rare, but I love the sight of bright ,freshly picked full cribs of corn. Great contrast with the white snow.
@@trinitydairywe're working on filling ours here on our farm in Western Pennsylvania right now. Doing the same thing you are will fill the cribs first then combine what's left I just came back from voting and feeding our beef heard and I am on my way to the field with the picker right now
Paul showed pretty good skill backing up the 12 to the wagon and getting the pin in with one shot, and no adjustable tongue. Back in the day we could cheat with the older tractors by leaning back in the seat to eyeball it straight up.
Glad it all worked out. Sorry about the scare. Its spooky at night out in the dark and in the middle of nowhere. So blessed to have family to help out. Congratulations on the new heifer. What did you name it? Who gets to name it? Thanks for the video.
Cribs look good, nice old ihc 806 with that loader. We get the black algae in the bio diesel aswell, l suggest using a fuel conditioner everytime you fill, or youll have that problem, seems that once its in a tank cant get rid of it, even flushing with gasoline it comes back after a bit
Above average corn harvest according to most people I know and follow..... The snow will slow you down but the corn will still be there. In a few days once this dries.
Looked it up, thought I would share......"the earliest corn-harvesting devices were horse-drawn sled cutters that severed the stalk at the ground. After cutting with the sled cutter, the stalks would be bundled together into shocks to dry before the ears were manually picked and husked".
Nice corn harvest video. At least I'm not the only one using a 6 row narrow head with a 4 row planter. If my jump rows are well-spaced, can run 6 rows, if not we just use 4 on either end of the head. Sure different weather than we're having in Ohio. No snow yet, but have had several frosty mornings and lots of wind. Down to 27 Friday morning. Good luck with the remaining harvest.
Love to watch the old uni working. What motor does it have? I too used to love doing plowing/discing at night. I would make myself a thermos of coffee, hop on the tractor about sundown and.sometimes work until the sun was coming up.
Hi Alan congrats on getting the two cribs filled that's that's great I'm in the brainerd lakes area we didn't get any snow here. Are you going to get any shots of the combineing the rest of the corn?
Have you run any of the other attachments on a Uni System? I know they are great Pickers, but the one we had when I was a kid didn't handle the chopper or combine very well. It was used when we got it, and probably not kept up before. Glad you have good luck with yours, it was a good idea in it's day. New Idea made great picking machines.
@trinitydairy Ok. They really do a great job picking corn! I used a pull type New Idea, basically the same husking bed. Keep at it, my friend, your videos are great!

The old picker doesn’t have to bad of lights. Thanks for sharing a little night picking.
Congrats on the new heifer.
I agree with you that the lights are just fine. It's like an adventure

Very nice job and God bless y'all
Great video! I remember doing that for many years!
Nice to see farming done with modest machinery....
Always a good feeling to get it done before the rain/snow!
Yes it sure is!
Glad it all worked out! Thank you.

The uni coming through the corn in the dark. 👍🌽🌽
Nice to see you have plenty of feed for this year. God Bless..
Great video!😊
International Harvester slip plate no. 3....I used to own a cyclo planter 😊 Good looking corn, not enough storage is a great problem to have!
Another great video
Keep on keeping on on. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think if I had that Uni Picker, I’d be putting up more cribs !
👀🙄🐾👍Interesting video Alan and Jennifer nice looking Guernsey heifer calf

That's the way I learned how to do it
Great video guys
BRRRRRR!!!! Snow already?

Good job on the filming in the dark sister. Thank you.
Above average corn harvest according to most people I know and follow..... The snow will slow you down but the corn will still be there. In a few days once this dries.
Hi Trinity Dairy
Looked it up, thought I would share......"the earliest corn-harvesting devices were horse-drawn sled cutters that severed the stalk at the ground. After cutting with the sled cutter, the stalks would be bundled together into shocks to dry before the ears were manually picked and husked".

I have always taken 6 rows, but found it does a better job cleaning the corn, if i take 4.
Hi trinity dairy from Indiana
10:00............beautiful !
👍👌❤🇨🇦, no snow up here
glad you got the cribs filled love seeing ear picking plase keep that white stuff up there how manny bu in one of the cribs corn looked good
I'm not sure how much they hold.
Love to watch the old uni working. What motor does it have? I too used to love doing plowing/discing at night. I would make myself a thermos of coffee, hop on the tractor about sundown and.sometimes work until the sun was coming up.
It has a GM V6 gas.
Those two corn cribs full of corn are money in the bank. Alan, have you even filled both of them in the same year before?
I think a 4 row head would be about right for that size machine. Just my opinion
Hi Alan congrats on getting the two cribs filled that's that's great I'm in the brainerd lakes area we didn't get any snow here. Are you going to get any shots of the combineing the rest of the corn?
Yeah, we'll have video of that.
🙂👌
I think corn needs to be around 18 percent or lower to keep good in the crib.
Another good video
Keep that white stuff up there
Hey Andy. Why are you not picking with all the rows on the uni. I really enjoy your videos good luck with harvest god bless you and your family
It does a better job cleaning the corn if I just take 4 rows.
Who? is Andy?Do you mean Allen?
I’m so sorry I did mean Alan forgive me.
Nice to have wife that will work bycyour side to let you get crops in
The loose corn that comes of the cobs when you are filling the crib are you able to collect it and use it?
Yes
Love it. Hey are the hats frim the store the snap back type? Thank you 😊
They have the plastic straps with the holes in one and the plastic buttons on the other, for adjusting.
Hi not a farmer like watching your guys videos. What do you do with the whole cob of corn?
We grind it for cattle feed.
All we've had is the picker.
@trinitydairy Ok. They really do a great job picking corn! I used a pull type New Idea, basically the same husking bed. Keep at it, my friend, your videos are great!
@MorganOtt-ne1qj we had one of those, before we got the uni.
Are you going to put the shelled corn in those bins?
Yes
Did i miss something? Why aren't you using the whole head to pick....just curious,,love your videos 😊
It cleans the corn better, if I take 4 rows.
Comment
y dont you run the full head width?
It cleans the corn better if I take 4 rows instead of 6
Love the unicorn . Nice seeing new life on the farm . Is anyone else sick of political ads ?
Yes
@@trinitydairyYES, YES, AND YES!!
Yes, sick and tired...we even had trick or treaters with political costumes...i.e. Trump caped costume...pretty good really, got a laugh out of it.
Why are you not taken all 6 rows?
It cleans the corn a lot better if I only take 4
how bad is the uni on gas usage.we have the same engine in truck and its not to bad
It uses a fair bit, but it runs wide open, when picking.
Isn’t that quite a bit more corn than you got last year?
Yes, but I planted more than last year
Great video, don't like that white stuff the older I get the more I don't lol
Why do you only use half of the head?
It cleans the corn better, if I take 4 rows, instead of 6.
How many loads per crib normally
I'm didn't keep track.
@trinitydairy okay I just was wondering if you kept track
Why still only using half of the row harvesting....
It cleans the corn better if I take 4 rows instead of 6
I can remember a summer day when I was younger that saying I'm 52. Putting slip-plate on a corn wagon growing up on the farm
whats better then seeing a full crib ,,, two full cribs, and extra still standing , 🥸🤓,Canada
Great video
