Two of our neighbors had Unis, one with a three row head and one with a four row head. I hauled a lot of corn away from both units and filled a lot of cribs. I always enjoyed that work and the ear corn made excellent feed. I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel.
Fantastic! Brings back memories of time spent working with my Dad. Our 705 had the Jimmy diesel and the 708 had the Perkins. My Dad was always strict about getting ours to the power washer every few days to clean the dust and debri out of the valley on the motor and around it and the engine bay. Also our dealer recommended a reinforcement ring on the drive wheel on the cab side because of possible cracking at the lug nut holes. We got our 705 with the accessories in '74. Happy Pickin', Thanks for the chance to watch.
THANKS for bringing us along, I just have so much respect for you, your family and your operation. Yes I watch some channels with nothing but the finest big operations, but you I can relate to. We farmed on the small scale in the 60's and I helped my uncle, some newer equipment, but also a lot of old machinery also. God Bless. Be safe and have a Blessed day.
there something satisfying about seeing a full crib, its like money in the bank without all the service fees ,something tells me that feed cost are going be high this season , nice seeing you can weather that coming storm 🥸🤓,Canada
I love watchen your equipment brother . I shoulda been a farmer. I really enjoy the equipment you have. So interesting to me . I love it. You must feel like you are accomplishing a lot daily . Very satisfying.
A farm by us has 5 of the newer style unis (grey color) it’s always cool to see them use them they got two with the combine attachment that they use now as back up to there case and when they had the dairy they had one with a picker mounted and one with the chopper mounted on it and then the last one is the parts donor was very cool concept that I think had it been easier to switch the attachments I believe they would have been a bigger success
They are currently harvesting with there’s cause mice chewed wiring harness on there main combine they don’t set no speed records running a 6rn30 new idea head but it sure does a nice job shelling
Glad you guys are getting a bountiful harvest. Also i wanted to comment on the last video but youtube didnt let me, congratulations on the purchase of the 806!
Love that bin full of ear corn…like feed gold. Quite a hum to that Uni. Had a neighbor with one growing up but he was never happy with performance…maybe an earlier model than yours.

Dad used to grow sweet corn for Green Giant back when. When I was small in the early 70s, remember a crew would come pick and they had a bunch of 2 row mounted pickers on usually 1960s IH tractors. No cabs, just umbrellas. Later, they went to these uni-harvester units like here. Probably 4 row. Dad only had 4 row wide planters. At some point, they went narrow row and he must have borrowed someones 6 row planter. I was in college by then so not sure. That did not last long and also they wanted larger plots than the 30 acres he was doing. Also, larger trucks in the fields were really causing compaction problems, etc. I think they use a custom made picker for that market now but not sure. But, for crib corn like you are doing, the New Idea 2 row pull type picker was used up till he retired in '97. Lots of memories of hauling wagons and unloading in the crib. Dad's cribs were a bit larger diameter than yours I think and there was a vertical ventilator with a drag line tunnel in the floor so one thing for wetter corn was a barn fan mounted on a frame was set on the tunnel to force some extra air through the corn for a while before things froze up for the winter.
While you had snow on your stalks, we haven't had rain in 30 days and we are approaching the all time record since the late 1800's which is 35 days here in Maryland.
Looking at the Sideview of your box gravity box, you could put 2 foot boards on the two sides in the back and a 12 inch board on the front, tapered the sides about 60° to match the front and you could increase your load substantially. Also, you wouldn’t have the problem of corn cobs flying over the back end of the box the way you have it now.
Those Unis are neat the way they work for all the things they can do. Did you get some of that snow that they were calling for? Might be enough to close the harvest down for a day or two.
Hi Alan, I just bought a gravity feed wagon that looks like yours. Has to drive to Nebraska with a flatbed trailer to pick it up. I can't find any small equipment down here in the Texas panhandle.
Looks pre historic 😂 but gets the job done, I like seeing old equipment at work. Happy Halloween, don't eat too much candy 🍬 😂 Great video, always enjoy them.
How do you test the moisture on ear corn? So did you take all the moving parts out of the two rows you don't use on the picker head so they don't wear and you have spare parts?
I shell some kernels off to test, and the cob adds about 2% moisture to that. Sometimes I use all 6 rows if I need to split the field, i would like to find a 4 rows head.
It really depends on the cow. We had a shorthorn that was 17 before she wouldn't breed back, but we had one of Jen's favorites that we couldn't get to settle, and she was only 7.
Happy halloween. Please let your kids eat lots of candy. It's important to kids at their age. It's important to me to eat a lot of candy too. Will you make bedding out of the remaining stalks for the heifers or will you just use your flail mower?
good corn picking video ol idea ounds mean what mtr does it have also have you thought about putting some weld lines on the shucking rollsmight help second
For your information, it's capable of taking 6 rows, I've been taking 4, because it does a better job cleaning the corn, and I only have a 4 row planter. I was taking 2 rows because I took 6 rows, when I split the field , and needed to take 2, so it would even back up! If I was going to take 2 rows I would have kept the pull type picker!
I think back in the eighties there where liability issues a machine jockey bought all the parts and machines that where left Stitzle farm equipment in Hamburg pa they sold parts for years

Glad to see the full crib. Also, a really nice job on the pumpkin carving!
The Old way but still works for some farmers but they are getting fewer as you know. Thanks for a great video showing us the old way.
Love the corn picker nothing like cow feed with the cob brings back memories old days not to many do it anymore keep up the good videos
Nothing like ear corn for cattle feed! And you have the Uni picking pretty clean, with good standing corn. Great video!👍👍

It looks like you and Paul figured out the ear throwing problem. Nothing worse than leaving grain on the ground. 😊

Uncle had chopper, picker, and sheller for his Uni.

Happy Halloween!
Wow, ear corn 6 rows at a time. As a kid with a 2 row NI pull type if we filled 3 triple cribs Pop would call that a great day.
Happy Halloween 🎃 Trinity Dairy.
While you had snow on your stalks, we haven't had rain in 30 days and we are approaching the all time record since the late 1800's which is 35 days here in Maryland.
Hope the kids get lots of candy

Can you see some astration I'm glad she's still running strong for you Alan I've always liked corn picking happy Halloween to you and your family.
Those Unis are neat the way they work for all the things they can do. Did you get some of that snow that they were calling for? Might be enough to close the harvest down for a day or two.
Yeah we got a couple inches
Hope you all had a great Halloween 👻🎃🎃👻👻🎃
Check the clearance on the snapping rolls,
Have a safe Trick or Treat 👻
Happy Halloween TD Family,
Nice video makes me feel very FALL. What power plant is in the Uni? Thanks, Boe
Hi Alan, I just bought a gravity feed wagon that looks like yours. Has to drive to Nebraska with a flatbed trailer to pick it up. I can't find any small equipment down here in the Texas panhandle.
Another very interesting video Thank you Allen 😊😊😊😊😊

Happy Halloween, don't eat too much candy 🍬 😂
Great video, always enjoy them.
neat machine what year is it never saw one here on east coast wonder why looks like its doing good job nice looking calf
@trinitydairy Ok... thanks for replying!
Nice video. Where those unis gas or diesel?
They made both, but this is a gas.
Is there a reason you only use 4 of the 6 rows to pick?
It cleans the ears a lot better
After how many years do the cows become infertile?
It really depends on the cow. We had a shorthorn that was 17 before she wouldn't breed back, but we had one of Jen's favorites that we couldn't get to settle, and she was only 7.
Does the uni have Chevy 6 cylinder in it? Neighbor has one with Perkins diesel in picker unit.
It has a GM V6 gas.
I'm curious, how come you don't chop all your corn for silage and bag what doesn't fit in the silos?
If I have to many bags, the critters put holes in them, before I get them fed, and I also wanted some dry corn, so I can make my own grain.
what direction are the geese heading
They were heading north.
You have Uni , have found Al and Roy ?
No, never heard of them
@@trinitydairyAn old uniroyal tire commercial. Surely you’re old enough to remember that?😀
Approximately how many acres did it take to fill the first crib?
I would say around 10
Feed me seymour feed me!!!!..
Happy halloween. Please let your kids eat lots of candy. It's important to kids at their age. It's important to me to eat a lot of candy too. Will you make bedding out of the remaining stalks for the heifers or will you just use your flail mower?
I was hoping to make bedding, but we got a bunch of wet snow today , so I don't think they will dry out.
👍👌❤🇨🇦
Why aren’t you picking with all the rows ?
I does a better job cleaning, if I just take 4 rows
First
good corn picking video ol idea ounds mean what mtr does it have also have you thought about putting some weld lines on the shucking rollsmight help second
It has the GM V6 gas.
my dad would pick 5 ears of corn and throw them in the cow water tank if 4 floated we picked
I've done that too,it seems to work pretty well
This video was kinda corny. 😊 🐄🐃🐂🌽🌽🌽
Your machine is capable of doing four rows at a time, why r u only doing two at a time? Do you like wasting time?
For your information, it's capable of taking 6 rows, I've been taking 4, because it does a better job cleaning the corn, and I only have a 4 row planter. I was taking 2 rows because I took 6 rows, when I split the field , and needed to take 2, so it would even back up! If I was going to take 2 rows I would have kept the pull type picker!
Never understood why new idea went out of business, ? I always thought they made great equipment,,,,, kinda sad ,,,
Yeah it is.
I think back in the eighties there where liability issues a machine jockey bought all the parts and machines that where left Stitzle farm equipment in Hamburg pa they sold parts for years
Awesome video thank you for sharing happy Halloween everyone ❤❤❤👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
My grandfather told me 25% moisture is max for corn cribs nothing over or it will rot in the crib
Yeah that's about right . A lot depends on how wide of a crib it is too.
I wish we could trade tractors because im looking for one with a loader.
Nice video
Nice Uni why are you only using part of the head
@paulreinhart5465 it does a better job cleaning the corn.
