    james actually never apologized for what he did to snape; he got away with everything and everyone was ready to forgive him (including lily and dambledore) because he was privliged rich kid; while they framed snape as a deatheater before he had even joined voldemort! james never felt sorry for tormenting snape and destroying his life; and snape was always damaged and hurt.. he never moved on with his life; i guess that's how bullying works..

    I was seriously on Snape`s side.
    You watch this and add to your mind:
    Harry: "My father was a great man!!!"
    Snape: "Your father was a swine!"
    Snape`s childhood was extremely difficult, and along comes "Sunny Boy" James Potter and Co., and they have nothing better to do than bully him.
    No wonder, he ended up with Voldemort. Who else was there to bond with?
    I found the ending with Voldemort weird and too incorrect.

I detest James Potter. Went to school with several of his kind (that includes girls) and their bullying turned me into the fucked up adult I am now (or, at least, contributed hugely) . In my HP- villain-top ten he ranks right after Umbridge - both of them are just so incredibly... real. People still underestimate the effect school bullying can have on an individual. That's also why I love Snape so much^^

      @@whitenoisereacts I mean, Harry named his kids after James and Snape. Rowling did something good which was showing us the grey areas of so many characters. So many of her characters are so lifelike.
      Everyone knows a James Potter. That typical arrogant bullying popular high school jock. Everyone knows an Umbridge. That person who uses politics/religion/ or whatever else as a smokescreen to sadistic torture. The fact that we all hate Umbridge so much is probably a huge compliment to her actress, Imelda Staunton. Everyone knows a Snape even. That petty cruel high school teacher who seems to hate everyone and everything(including himself) for no apparent reason. The two biggest grey area characters in the fandom are Snape and Dumbledore, those two get debated on the most from what I've seen. Harry himself had to endure so much with the abuse he suffered at the Dursleys' and all the deaths he witnessed and loved ones he lost, as well as all the Voldemort shit he had to contend with. Yet throughout it all, he was still able to remain kind, humble, and a decent human being, showing just how much Harry takes after his mother instead of his father in terms of personality. Harry's kids names are:
      1) James Sirius Potter (eldest son)
      2) Albus Severus Potter (younger son)
      3)Lily Luna Potter (youngest and only daughter)
      Rowling said Harry left Remus' name for Teddy to use, and George named his son after Fred, to honour his twin brother.

      @nilsmcronagall 3 года назад

      @@laurine____7543 First of all, why do you have to be rude just because you think I am wrong about a fictional character?
      Secondly , Andromeda Tonks was in Slytherin, came from a pureblood family and some of her family members including her own sister were some of the fiercest Voldemort supporters and yet she did not become anything close to a death eater. Neither did Sirius, having a similar, but of course not equally drastic background. So growing up in the vicinity of extremists is certainly a possible explanation, but no apology for becoming one yourself. Lily‘s even said that she knew of his wanting to become a death eater, which he I might add did not feel the need to correct.
      As for the hexing people for fun bit, James was undeniably a bully, a notion that I did not challenge at all. However Lupin‘s claim that Snape „never lost an opportunity to curse James“ (OotP) still stands uncontested.
      In my opinion „sneaking around trying to find out what we were up to … hoping he could get us expelled“ (book 3) is a good indication for his trying to get Lupin expelled. If you think that the assertion is too biased, „I think the loss of the Order of Merlin hit him hard. So he - er - accidentally let slip that I am a werewolf this morning at breakfast.“ should suffice as far as evidence that he at least displayed such intentions later on goes.
      In my opinion it shows his apparent urge to punish weaker group members in order to punish their friends.
      Yes, Snape cannot be envied for what he had to endure both at home and in school. But to pretend he was an innocent victim of circumstance would from my point of view be a misjudgment of his character.

This is a freakin masterpiece. There aren't true canons cuz nothing was written by JK Rowling about this period. All we have is some informations about the first Order of the Phoenix in the 5th book of Harry Potter. There are so much interesting characters like the two brothers of Molly Weasley who died in hero (Fabian and Gideon same initials as Fred and Georges) or the Neville's parents and from what we learn in the Harry Potter books 4 and 5 is such interesting (all fights of Alastor Moody, the Ministery's cases with Bartemius Crouch etc...). This movie paints Snape in too positive a light tbh. And I'm someone who actually really doesn't like James Potter, or Lily for that matter.
    Edit:
    1) James matured in his 7th year. If anything, it's likely James would have approached Snape to make peace rather than fight again. 2) James and Snape would go at each other. It wasn't always one sided. 3) Fiendfyre is dark magic and the marauders, outside of Peter later in life, didn't partake. 4) Snape was friends with future death eaters since his first year. He was already planning on joining Voldemort after hogwarts by his 6th year. 5) James would never say, "Severus please." 6) Lily never spoke to Snape after he called her a mudblood. That's why he regrets that memory so much. He never got closure with Lily. She didn't row with Snape because he defended himself against James smh. 🤦🏽‍♂️
    Well made movie in everything but the story and understanding of these characters.
    And also, the marauders, outside of Peter, were basically like popular Hermiones. They wouldn't have gotten their ass handed to them this easily

      Idk about that. Sirius said he got better in his seventh year when he "stopped hexing people for the heck of it." But he also mentioned Snape was an exception and would "hex him right back." In this video they were both going for each other as well, though James did start it. James did mature to a degree but this was right after he left Hogwarts, its not too hard to believe he would do this. In addition the reason he was more anxious about Snape now was because he was with Lily and didn't want Snape anywhere near her, not just their usual rivalry, so it fits that he was more aggressive. As for James saying "Severus Please," it does make sense because like I said he has matured to a degree and cares more about his friends getting hurt than about Snape. Lupin was bleeding out, Sirius was hit by the Cruciatus Curse. Yes, Snape was friends with future Death Eaters but that doesnt mean anything. Technically, Sirius, Lupin and James were friends with a future Death Eater as well. Plus in their school years, the worst thing mentioned that Snape's friends did was enlarge somebody's head. Fred and George have done things at about that level (example: making sweets that turns people into canaries and possibly damaging Montague by shoving him into the broken Vanishing Cabinet). Meanwhile, Sirius pretty much tried to commit murder and get Snape killed. There's no evidence that Snape was planning on joining Voldemort while he was in school. The only thing that suggests so is Lily saying that to Snape when she is very angry at him, as thats what she believes, but its more than likely if "Snape's worst memory" had never occurred, things wouldve gone very differently. The last part I vehemently disagree with, its never inferred that the Marauders were popular Hermione's. Were they talented? Yes. But never like that. The only thing they had above what most graduating students did was more experience, animal transformation, and a slightly expanded knowledge of experimental curses. But there's nothing that suggests they were anywhere near as powerful as Snape. They weren't even a powerful as half the Order like Kingsley, Moody, or the Aurors, forget Snape. Hermione was better than the Marauders as in her 5th year, as she was able to modify/combine a jinx that nobody could reverse and that literally prevented someone from talking or else a bunch of spots would cover their face. Nobody was able to cure this jinx, not even the teachers of Hogwarts who are pretty powerful. At 17, she was able to constantly keep up protections and magical enhancements to hide from the entire world including the most powerful dark wizard of all time. The Marauders weren't at Hermione's level in their youth, so they were nowhere freaking near Snape's level. In the books its stated "Snape knew more curses when he arrived at school than most 6th and 7th years ever did." Snape literally created new spells, outsmarted the textbook makers for potions (who have to be pretty smart in their own right) and literally made potions better than any student ever and even rewrote the recipes for them to make them better, was extremely skilled in Occlumency, and went on to literally lie directly to the face of the most powerful dark wizard ever who was an unparalleled Legilmens and be one of the only two people who could fly without the use of brooms (the Death Eaters couldn't do that in the books). The Marauders dont stand a chance against Snape.
      Lily also still didnt forgive him hear, thought the same thing of him he did back then, and went off with James. Its still his worst memory.

    This is my favourite fan film because it stays quite true to the personalities of Severus and James (though I'm hesitant of the personalities of Sirius and Remus, especially in the fight). This is always how I imagined the Marauders to be during school given what we know, and makes so much sense to how Severus becomes so messed after all those antagonistic years. People are always saying, 'no, it was a mutual rivalry!'.It's not a rivalry if is 1 vs 2-4...that's bullying. People like to say it's that so they can feel better about James and refuse to believe that yes, he was a bullying asshole. Severus only ever fought back in self-defence, and will never willfully attack them unless he was baited to it. It would go completely against Severus' character if he chose to attack them because he felt like it - he knew better if he knew he was outnumbered.
    Aside from that, I REALLY love the casting and the effects! Such an amazing fan film, for sure!

      lets be realistic here now. It was clearly stated James and the rest of the marauders matured and left Snape alone. I do not like James enough to understand his actions, because he was an arrogant rich bratty boy, but he bullied Snape because Snape had and continued to have prejudice against muggleborns. You cannot deny the fact Snape was always a racist asshole, he never changed his ways, he was only nice to Lily because he became obsessed with her for years. Snape joined a terrorist group because he got rejected. James is the morally grey character here, Snape always remained a bad guy. He was bullied because of his beliefs, not because he was different. Are we really going to ignore the fact Snape was very similar to Voldemort? Snape created a nickname for himself to get rid of his muggle heritage, just like Voldemort did. Snape despises muggleborns and the fact he is not a pureblood like most of Slytherin. Snape bullies his students on multiple occasions, and he never done a good thing in his life. He only cared about Lily, and her safety. In the books he only asks Lily to be hidden, and in response, Dumbledore tells him he is disgusting. Snape did not become a double agent because his allegiance changed, and he realised he was on the wrong side the whole time. He did it because Dumbledore kept him in the loop by blackmailing him. Dumbledore cleared his name after Voldemort was defeated the first time, in favour of becoming a spy for him and whenever Snape did not want to do a certain thing, he would always be reminded of Lily by Dumbledore, to at least do it for her sake. I will always continue to despise Snape, he is not a morally grey character, he is a disgusting piece of shit. end of story.

    • @Inferno90

      @@viktoriabuzas2001 It's really disappointing when people don't care to understand Snape's story, because those such as yourself, have these narrow-minded views when it's been indicated already by the author herself, that Severus Snape is indeed, a grey character. I suppose you've never suffered parential abuse, and bullying/harassment/ostracization/public humiliation by fellow peers for seven years? I don't suppose you have any idea what it's like to be attacked and singled out for being different? I don't suppose you understand the mindset of an abused child, and how isolated they can be, and are easily influenced by a side who can make a person feel safe? A child so severely ostracised by the people 'of good', that conveneing with the darker crowd seems far more appealing. The people of good, treated him like shit for no real reason, except they were bored.
      James is a douchebag who never changed. He flaunted his power with his gang, hexed other students, and bullied Severus 'because he exists'. Because James couldn't keep his mouth shut on the first train ride, in a private conversation Severus was having with Lily. James and co were power tripping. The whole 'James changed' is BS because we dont SEE him change, except for biased half-truths from his best mates who will never speak ill of him, and to appease his son. We dont see the change, or remorse for his actions, because he thought they were justified. Because what they did to Severus for 7 years, caused him severe PTSD, along with anxiety, and likely depression. Saying James suddenly changed is erasing him of all wrong doings, and is a slap in the face for people who did suffer in the way that he did.
      Severus on the other hand, lived longer, therefore we actually DO see his change. From joining the DE's, to defecting by choice less than 2 years later, approaching the enemy at risk of his own life. We see his loyalty to Dumbledore. We see him save students. We see him protect Harry numerous times. We see him saving Order members. We see him snap at Phineas when he calls Hermione a Mudblood. We see him swap the Sword of Gryffindor, keep it safe, and give it to Harry upon the right conditions. We see him do so much good already, and yet you fail to see any of it.
      Severus Snape had many opportunities to flee his post and save himself. At first it was about Lily - but it became so much more than that. Much of what he did had nothing to do with Lily, so this obsessive notion haters throw around is BS. Severus saw Lily when they finished from Hogwarts, and never saw her alive after that. Unlike James, Severus did not blackmail her in the middle of torturing her friend, and asked to date her. That is disgusting behaviour on James' part.
      James died for people who loved him. Severus died for people who hated him. Because at the end of it all, Severus had a hand in Voldemort's downfall - twice. Was he nice? Hell no. Did he bully some of his students. Of course he did.
      I'd rather have an asshole who saves your life without question, than a man like Tom Riddle who appears friendly and charming, but will not hesitate to kill you. Severus and Tom are absolutely nothing alike.
      If Severus was so evil as you think he is, Harry would have never named a kid after him.
      So go take your petty hate elsewhere.

    Important to remember, this entire "encounter" is from Snape's pov. Told by Snape, so, not necessarily the most accurate recounting of events. Same with the scenes in the actual movies. The only times we see James are from Snape's memories.

    • @leno_o17
      @leno_o17 2 года назад +2

      I doubt it matters here. In these books the memories don't really have a "pov". They're realistic, detailed, have a lot of gravity. Considering that Dumbledore uses the memories as a source of information about Voldemort, horcruxes and other important stuff, means that they can be trusted. If the memory depended on someone's pov, it would be totally unreliable as it could be deformed by this person's emotions etc. So for Rowling showing a memory is just another way of storytelling.

      @@Lucklaran Well, exactly- he tampered with it. Purposefully, to hide something. That was not the case with other memories that we've seen (Snape's among the others) right? I'm just saying that those memories were kind of a big point of the plot and their meaning was pretty much mulled over in the story. Trying to interpret them as character's "pov" (like...what, it looked different from someone else's perspective? How exactly?) is like splitting hair, as that's rather not what the author had in mind.

    They did James dirty (both the movies and fan films).
    Sure, he had no right to bully anyone, but teenage Snape wasn't innocent either. They went to school during the First wizarding war and Snape was hanging out with the racist of the wizarding world aka blood-supremacists, all future Death Eaters. He practiced the Dark Arts which is illegal magic but the teachers and Dumbledore turned a blind eye to most things happening at Hogwarts (typical lol).
    James, as a "noble Gryffindor" as he probably prided himself to be, hated the Dark Arts and anyone who supported Voldemort, though, again, it doesn't give him the right to bully people of course. It's just that he wasn't a villain. Sirius was the same though, they were like brothers.
    And it's Snape's fault he lost Lily, James has nothing to do with it because it's all Lily's decision.

    • @somanhaiderkhanrasha6565
      @somanhaiderkhanrasha6565 3 года назад +6

      A bully is always a bully anyway. As much as Snape was he was still minding his own business. Nobody cares if He lost lily or not even if he did he was just looking out to say sorry. Meanwhile James and his angsty jealousy in everything makes him worse and he deserved his death by trusting a traitor like Peter more.

  • @lapplandkun9273
    @lapplandkun9273 3 года назад

    To be honest, Snape had massive plot armor in this. When Sirius joins in with James to attack Snape, both flanked him from opposite ends, which is a good strategy and allows the two to box him in and split his focus and attention. When Remus and Peter joins in, they all decide to attack him from the front, which makes no tactical sense besides director's clear bias and Snape's plot armor. The Marauders had a clear tactical advantage despite Snape literally being the better duelist than all four combined.
    Also, the fiendfyre looked good but then the effects after the attack landed looked disappointing and small.

    I personally don't like how they are showing James because it is sort of mistaking the purpose of why was he showed bullying Snape as 15 years old kid. It was because Harry needed to see all those people who he idolized as flawed humans because it is part of growing. So it happened with James, Sirius (but just in the books), Remus (also just in the books) and Dumbledore. Snape is much bigger bully throughout the books than James ever is shown but we see James through keyhole and Snape in full view. Apart of that I love the colors in this movie, they are so cinematic and the quality of it is really good, spells look great! It is also a bit like a horror movie and acting is fantastic, I love Lily.

    james was a privileged and talented prick in school who had a crush on lily, who hardly gave him the time of day. severus was not privileged in any sense but was talented In other areas, and he had lily as a friend. i think they were both jealous of each other in ways and they simply clashed. they were young, it happens. james and sirius picked on him without a doubt, and snape didn't lie down and take everything. still, james was a bully to other people as well. however, he seemed to grow up a lot. he was head boy his last year and people credit that as one of the reasons lily fell for him. his growth
    with that being said, severus went down a dark path. he called lily a mudblood, he was obsessed with the dark arts, he became a death eater. despite the fact that he changed sides and became a spy for the order, he was still not over the beef with james and especially not when lily and james got together. she clearly did not love him, or like him anymore because of who he had become. he could not get over her, to the point that he asked Dumbledore to keep her safe from Voldemort without a care for her husband or son
    when harry got to Hogwarts he hated snape, a lot of them hated professor snape because he was a bully to them. he picked on harry on his first day and never really stopped. he bullied neville so hard that he became the kids worst fear in boggart form.....
    so james was a bully in high school and grew out of it, but snape bullied his students and never grew out of that. he saw harry in school and he was a spitting image of the boy who bullied him all of those years ago, with the eyes of the girl he loved his whole life. and he did save harry in multiple ways, so he is a wonderful grey character, both good and bad. i just think lily would be furious to see how snape treated harry to his face and i think james would punch him lol

      It isnt canon. Bc Snape had already buddy with Lucius Malfoy when they're at school and he loves research about the Dark Art. I guess at first the Death Eater bunch just seem like a club of wizard to perform and study "real magic" unrestrictedly to the Nerdy Snape.
