And this ladies and gentlemen, is why you should get a plumber to fix the heater, hopefully he doesn't try shutting off the water with the tempering valve.

OK...let me preface this by saying I am useless at any handy man stuff, usually when I think it's fool proof, a flamming screw will snap in half and completely ruin a 5 minute job. Having said that I have just repaired my water heater in less than one hour. Thank you for sharing the video. I will say I did 2 things different that made it easier for me...I turned water of at the mains and I use a liquid thread seal. I had no water escape when I removed the old part and did not have to release any water prior. because there was no water coming in i think the unit was sealed....anyway...whatever...it worked. So you have saved me 900 bucks on a new system. Champ!

Some plumbing companies install refurbished thermostatic pressure relief valves especially the guys that change your anodes. The best brand to buy for replacement is RMC can even get these at bunnings

A lot of people thinking this guys an expert and saying how this helped them service or even install their HWU.
I can point out a lot wrong here but don’t want to encourage people to diy.
I had a job recently someone who changed their own ptr valve went on holidays ptr valve shot out of the tank and flooded neighbours property. (Going through vcat I don’t know what the cost is yet).
Treat plumbing like electricity get a licensed plumber.

Good day mate I have Rheem gas heater water tank, hot water sometime either fully stops running or dripping very low pressure .
Do you think it’s two valves faulty or water tank itself getting older it’s about 15 years w/tank .
    Thanks .

Hi. I have the same tank. My valve has that black nibblet on top as does yours. Mine leaks water from it. What's it for?

Hi mate. Do u ever have to increase the hot water dial to 7, the highest? When i release the hot water out, then the gas start kicking in n boil the water. But i can't be doing this every single time

What a joke turning the tempering valve cap. All he did was adjust the temperature. This guy is a dangerous fool. Get a plumber.

    Worst tap I’ve ever seen
That’s because it’s not a tap you fool
Also that’s not how you put Teflon tape on, you actually put it on the wrong way around the the unit should be set to number 6 which is Approximately 60 degrees so it’s kills the bacteria that might be living inside the heater
How about you leave this to the experts

Just for next time: The yellow "tap" is actually a tempering valve, you can't turn off the water there and really shouldn't mess with it

Your hot water installation is illegal the hot water relief valve should run into a drain. If a child was near the outlet when it discharges they would be scalded. Another reason why its is illegal to do your own plumbing.

Kim Welstead bro are you normal all he did was to replace the relive valve that’s it 🤦🏻‍♂️ he didn’t install the whole hot water system

    • @MyChicken07
      @MyChicken07 3 года назад

@@carlosgj1308 doesn’t matter. if he touch the ptr valve last it’s got to have a drain.
Just as well shouldn’t be touching this stuff in Australia if you’re not a licensed plumber it’s illegal.
