I have an Iconic - I updated it to a competition, and also dressed it in the Drake Colors along with the newer skid pipes and gear (Was never a fan of the carbon gear).. Love it! - BTW Jeff, Flip the ball link on your tail servo so the ball faces up.. Much straighter run for the carbon rod!.
I almost bought the iconic! But I was waiting till I could find an all original original lol I was never like it’s a sin to change them lol but might change them later on. The shorter ones help big time. I was going to flip the ball over on the tail push rod but I know the rod is supposed to have preload. No issues with flipping it over?
awesome love it.great one. im more of a fpv pilot at the moment, but i want to get my first raw helicopter soon. lets see how long ineed to make a decision haha thanks for all the help man appreciate it
Great video, just purchased one used at a good price. Can't wait to fly it. Has a ikon2 that I'm not familiar with but after going through setup using the software on PC, seems pretty straightforward.
@@brianreece785 it’s a great helicopter and still flys great. ikon is great! Very easy to setup and tune, I’ve got a ton of videos on ikon and lots of setups.
Hello, congratuts on your videos which are always very useful. I also have a goblin 700 competition and I have some play on my tail, can I ask you how did you solve it? Thank you very much
Thank you very much! I’m glad the videos are helpful! So I just completely pulled the tail apart (heated and popped the tail bearing out) cleaned all the excess, retaining compound in Greece and reassemble detail I think the bearing was just not pushed all the way into a place.
Any issues installing the tail servo into the slot? I have the black nitro and I find it a total PÍA. Funny thing, when I built the black nitro then I built other( newer) SAB helis I could see the evolution in design and ease of building in the newer helis. The manuals also improved.
No issues at all. It was a little tight, but nothing out of the ordinary. It took just a little bit of pressure to get it to pop in, but it fit in there perfectly. You can 100% tell the difference between the original Goblins and newer ones. It’s really cool to see how far they have come! That is the main reason I wanted one of these so bad.
Seems like you had to Clearance the Main frame for the Belt Tensioner , I just did a restoration on a pearl White and grey OG 570 and the tensioner will hit the frame,
I did not have to clearance the frame for the belt tensioner. It fits perfectly, and does not touch. I bet that Pearl white looks awesome! The 570 is super nice as well.
How does this heli compare to a new Raw 700 for example? Does it have some noticeable different flying characteristics? How do those old SAB blades compare to more modern blades? Could you also send me or direct me to the 3D printed antenna mounts you had in the video? I really could use those.
You can definitely tell the difference between the two models. The raw flies a lot lighter better power to weight ratio but this thing flies incredibly! I would put it up against a lot of modern helicopters today. Blade wise, I don’t think I can personally tell a difference. They fly great. But I’m not a hard smack pilot. I got that file actually from thingiverse. It is a free file.
With the spring popping out? That is one thing I wanted to touch on I had to loosen the amount and rotated slightly to get the proper spring tension and pop off. That’s good to know! When I looked they had some but not everything I wanted,
Cool! You know I happen to own one from the first batch that hit the American shore's back in 2011. Never crashed it but it has all the upgrades SAB recommended, except for the head change out. I saved the landing skids but change them out for pipes. Changed the blades because, well, just look at the KBDD blades! 😜ruclips.net/video/txEPmn7xm9c/видео.html
Nice! I still have and fly my OG white and red 500 sport! It still flies like the day I got it! And has well over 500 5min flights on it!
Oh wow! That’s great! I’m definitely excited to have this one in my collection. Definitely want to find a 500 next!
It looks absolutely amazing sir, love the color.
Thank you very much! I’m extremely pleased to have this one I’m my collection!
i do have one new in the box !!!
I bought it back then but i never build it!!
I may do it now!
@@fanisrc you should build it! It’s an awesome heli!
Looks awesome, I love the Goblin 700! I think you really should add a Goblin Black Thunder 700 to the collection too;)
It is such a beautiful and iconic helicopter. If I can find a black thunder, 700 I will definitely add it to my collection!

Great job as always Jeff !!
Thank you very much! I appreciate it!
Very sweet. I want one ! 😂
I waited a long time to find the perfect one, which was this one! I could’ve bought the iconic when it came out but I wanted an original lol
Oh man, need the maiden in the build video!
Maiden will be out very soon! I do them separate for people who want to watch just one and or the other.
So cool! I honestly think I have most of the parts (new) for one of those from back in the day. I’ll have to bust them out.
Heck, yeah! That’s awesome, if you ever want to get rid of them, please let me know. You can never have too many parts lol.
I know that Heli!!!
Yes you do! Looks a little different!?

Wow super cool build ; still not sure how to calculate the correct amps ESC for a heli motor
Thank you! So that depends on the motor and helicopter set up. What size helicopter? They all have a rough estimate on what ESC you should use.

Coming very soon! I’m working on it as we speak! Lots of wiring to do.
