Larry, this is so messed up that you had to suffer through that hell where the goal of the prisons was to dehumanize and torture people. Glad you're here to call out Infographics, because the way their video is talking practically writes the press releases for the prisons to justify the crap they do to dehumanize. I mean a prison can ban just about anything because 'it could be made into a weapon' which applies to literally everything that isn't nailed to the floor and just further justifies otherwise inhumane treatment of human beings. What I find even more twisted is everything the prison takes away is automatically justified by the 'makeshift weapon' argument, giving the prison a free pass to deny toilet paper, food, water, books, interactions with other human beings. At this point, prisons could begin amputating and sterilizing all prisoners across the board and people would write it off as justified because fists are the built in weapon all humans have, and the sterilization would somehow be ok to 'prevent women periods and to prevent men from jacking off'. As a society, we're sick in the head, so please keep making videos, you're probably one of the few people arguing against the automatic 'justified because dangerous criminal' excuse enabling this dehumanizing tortures of our corrupt damnation system.

Infographics seems great until they start talking about something you know a lot about. When you notice the mistakes, inconsistencies, and falsehoods, it makes you question the quality of their other videos.

Infographics has been sketchy to me before. Someone should put together a debunking playlist together with videos like this one.
It's like Five Minute Crafts. There are a couple of gems hidden in heaps of junk.
I stopped watching them ever since the original guy got swapped with this cheesy annoying narrator years ago. It's like his very voice hints that their research cannot be trusted, and indeed the quality of it did drop around that time
Some of those videos wouldn't be put up for debunking, or highly criticized if they did, like the Infographics' WWII stuff.
@@seamonster936 You say they would because of a video on WWI, but my comment was pointing out that people get pissed if you question the claims made by the masses about the events of WWII, especially the Holocaust. Like one person's diary that every year or so keeps getting longer despite they supposedly died 80 years ago, or these scientifically impossible killing methods, or that by some figures claimed Auschwitz's 7 years of just the cremation of Jews totals nearly 4 times the then entire world population, or these making of things like lampshades and bar soap that they made lots of, yet no one has ever seen except by those claiming they have.
They pretty much just google things. It gives you a decent idea of the topic, but its not into depth or 100% accurate

I was never in prison, but did a stint in a few county jails. Even I find some of these videos absolutely ridiculous. There is no way these people know what really happens in a jail/prison. Love your channel. Keep up the great work
I used to watch their channel quite a lot but a few videos they done which I actually know about aren’t very accurate. Like they said it’s illegal to get drunk in a British pub. I’m from the UK and the pub is an Englishman’s second home lol. They can refuse to serve you if your totally tanked up or abusive etc. But you can get drunk lol.

cards were a BIG thing for me. i have a king of spades tattooed on my hand to mach my girls queen of hearts on her hand. i bought multiple decks and i had 1 specific deck of cards i surprised my girl with when i got out with 52 reasons why i loved her written on each one. when i showed everybody in there what i was gonna give her when i got out, they LOVED it. i got a free haircut, (i have a crazy afro), a dress shirt, nice shoes, pants etc all for FREE. everyone was like "nah man ur gonna look nice for your girl EVERYTIME she sees you." everyone was all for our relationship lmao id get cheers walking out to the visiting room lmaoooo
I recently retired as a Correctional officer from the California department of corrections after 26 years. Larry is spot on on most points.
There are banned books tho, Art of War, Anarchist cookbook, things like that.
Inmates in CDC can buy pencils and blue ink pens at the commissary/canteen. Black ink was for Officers only.
They banned the art of war what about The Prince by Machiavelli?

I used to jam the door of the toilet where we had to provide urine samples, after the guards placed the tray with labelled urine cups there on a Sunday, I bent a paperclip into a V-shape and put it inside the lock, the guards went completely crazy on Monday morning when they wanted us to provide a urine sample, after they found out that they were unable to open the door to the toilet.

One that really sucked in California prisons was when they banned magazines with nudity. (early 2000's) They're like; we don't want you looking at pics of naked women. Uh, okay! So, you just want us stuck looking at our cute little cellmate all day? WTF!!!

Current county jail guard, in the topic of sleep masks many inmates took to using covid masks for that role (and since my facility no longer requires anybody to wear them that's now their primary use even). That or the towel trick you mentioned.
In terms of staples and stuff, if I find them I take them but generally there won't be restriction regarding stuff that little. Most contraband we find on shakedowns are tattoo guns or maybe hooch. Booking is where you find the fun stuff between used heroine needles, saved piss "suitcased" or taped to the gooch that they try to use on the intake drug test, drugs, knives (though given it's a county jail quite a few get booked with shit like pocket knives that are just put in with their property and given back upon release). Craziest thing I found was this week with a dude that had a half-complete single-shot .22LR makeshift firearm made out of a shop compressor air gun that could chamber a single .22LR round, told me he was still trying to find a way to make a firing pin before he got arrested.
Lol they really go through taping piss, I just had someone else in the cell piss for me
You're totally right a friend of mine ran a dungeon dragons game in jail for over 2 years. If you show good behavior there is quite a bit you can get away with.

My celly made a pretty badass chess set in county jail out of soap. We would keep it set up on the table for some decoration. Most COs either complemented on how cool it was and/or would tell us to put it away because it was technically contraband. I’ve never gotten as mad in county as I did the day this big butch hog of a woman CO came in with a trash bag and just started toshing it in the trash. She also came in after breakfast when I get my best sleep in county and woke me up so to watch her throw our prized possession away. All I could do was cuss at her and bang on the door which got me locked down for the rest of the day.

Have you ever did a video on how people deal with medications while locked up? Like a diabetic that needs shots very often to survive for example.

I got this one Larry, kick back and handle something important.
They have what's called pill line in all the prisons I been in. That is where there always a huge ass line where inmates go get their prescribed drugs, insulin, where they will usually hand a diabetic a syringe to let him poke himself if he wants. Pill line is ran I believe about 4 times in a 24 hour period and if you missed it and it's a big enough emergency they will do what's needed to make it happen. I went to pill line maybe 25:times in 20 years. I wasn't into it. A lot of guys are trying to get what ever they can, siriquil, or anything that'll make em do the thorezine shuffle. I would hate when they called pill line during a sporting event, like when I played softball. Pill line isn't fast. It can last 2 hours. It would suck when 11 players out of 18 would take off for pill line. Everything in prison is a fucking inconvenience.
back in 2001 I was in jail, me and a couple guys made a monopoly game. We knew all the values of the properties made a fake money, dice, hotels, houses. It killed so much time to finish one game of Monopoly. The good all days ha ha ha

Hey Larry, just curious if you saw or maybe you commented already on that jewelry store robbery in Beverly Hills recently. Supposedly 9 million dollars retail in jewelry stolen. Was a smash and grab in broad daylight.
I oversaw a relatively famous inmate in Nebraska State. He would store a certain male bodily fluid and snort it with coffee grounds to give himself "powers". Should add I no longer work for the state and this was not used in any litigation towards said inmate.

Ear plugs were the best item I've had in the correctional facility I was in. Why? Dumbass inmates in my pod would play poker or just beat the metal tables we had all day all night. So annoying. First time in jail, last time in. Terrified me. The last week before getting out, inmates abs guards would do everything they csn to violates my release. I was in PC in California and the wanna be gangsters Northern Ridas would start shit.
I've seen so much in the year in jail. I hated my experience. It's been 7 years and I'm not explaining what I've been through. Bad experience. Now I got a family and my own business.

I do love the content Larry. I gave up on watchmojo and infographics a long time ago because they are almost never accurate about anything. I spent a year in provincial jail in Canada. I don't know if people understand how totally removed that is from American Federal prison. Even in Canadian provincial hotels most of what they said is not true and especially not for the reasons they say.

You should look into the story of a man dubbed the Houdini of Florida state prison. His names mark and he didn’t actually do anything wrong. But he’s been in prison for so long because of a saga of escaping. The guy literally could look at the guards key and escape using a key he made out of paper.
The whole story is more unbelievable then the fact that we put men in women’s prisons in 2022
Lot of these things arent so bad and some are ridiculous. I had a lot of dirty books. A lock in a sock is way worse than a big book or must other things for that matter. Was fun to watch. Great video

One of the best money makers by far. You get ahold of a magazine you can rent that thing out like blockbuster haha let alone you know someone that has some kind of office job and can use the copy machine and you get tons of copies you will be a king in there if you can swing that.

None of this shiznit is true... It's so funny ... Look, I've only been to state prison (late 90's & early 00's) and here in Illinois in that era you could buy all this stuff off commissary - even shiznit that makes no sense at all that is banned in other joints.... Also, the whole book thing blows my mind because you could get any book you wanted - not only that - but cassette tapes too (it was the 90's so we had tape players, lol) however they did have a "selection service" but if the book or tape you wanted wasn't on the "selection service" then someone on the outside could just send it in.... And the reset of the stuff is just silly - like chewing gum. Sure it's true that chewing gum is banned at some joints - but gum isn't banned in all of them.....Infographics does NOT know what the hell they're talking about..... I'm shocked they didn't say "dental floss" because you know - prisoners may cut through the bars that rarely exist, haha...smh

I have an ironic prison story. Many years ago i had a short spell in the pokey. On the third day an officer shouted 'movie'. Some of us went to the lower floor and they wheeled out a big tv and put a video on. The video was 'escape from new york'. I thought 'ok thats funny' but the irony is it was a copied video that said at the start 'it is a federal offence to copy this video' and the worst thing was id watched it on tv 3 days before i got banged up. And yes it is different in some ways in the UK

My favorite one was hearing that they smoked weed in prison rolling a joint out of the Bible pages! He’s going to hell for that one! Never been in prison/jail. But my uncle did a 10 year bid. He said that infographics video was bullshit. It got him to a point where he was actually pissed to the point he wanted to fight someone. Not sure if that’s just the prison that did that to him or he was actually pissed

I do know of a true escape story that I saw on nat geo where one prisoner got some putty and while his friend was distracting the guard the other guy gently lifted up one of the officers keys and made an impression with it. If I remember right everything worked and they got out.

When I was in the hole I’d have people print books on regular paper and mail it in. I did almost a whole year in the box 🤦🏽♂️

I expect that those kind of channels get their information from just doing a Google Search and looking for "Items banned from Prison" for example. Then lots of articles and lists would come up. Then they just copy the text and make a video. Lots of people do this for quick video content creation.

A really good book I would recommend you read is the poetic edda it's all about the Norse gods and the stories behind it. And it's not all badass viking stuff it all has valuable lessons on life and it's just a great read

Sounds like your better off trying to remember the shape of the key if you ever saw it so you can try to replicate it. But you'll need a photographic memory to pull it off.
I'm Welsh, and without giving too much detail my extended family were part of a huge fraud operation and were sent away for multiple years, and since they have been out I have not once heard about the place being awful, I suppose being able to watch movies all day helps with that ey?

Violent DVD’s aren’t banned in the UK that doesn’t make sense you get a tv in your cell with about 20-30 channels with one of the channels being film 4 who were regularly showing violent films after 9pm as they usually do. They wouldn’t allow you to be able to tune into that on your TV if they banned violent DVD’s
