  • Today I am repotting my Calathea Orbifolia or Prayer Plant, it has been looking a little unhappy recently and I think the soil is wrong for it, so I will be putting it into a bigger pot and taking the opportunity to inspect the soil and the roots, this allows me to see if it is getting the right soil mix.
As you will see in the video I'm quite surprised at what I find.
    Thanks for watching.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that Calathea Orbifolia is among the most beautiful plant. Calatheas generally have the most inventive and beautiful leaf pattern, but Orbi leaf shape and design is just stunning. It remains to be my most favorite Calathea. I saw one person has giant Orbi leaf size, and I'm green with envy. I don't know how they did it. Massive leaves with no scorch marks!

I needed this, thank you. I live in Jamaica and I’ve fell deeply in love with Calatheas. I am still trying to figure out the soil mixture given my weather and humidity levels can be a lot different from all the person’s I’ve been watching on youtube.

Glad it was helpful! Calathea can be tricky at the best of times! Trail and error in most cases but enjoy the journey all the same!

It is indeed, I don't give it enough attention like a lot of my plants but it's still part of my collection.

I'm surprised that doesn't dry it out too much but if it's happy there then fair enough! :-)

Oh Mr. Mouse that poor plant had a little bit of misfortune. Yeah, I'll pray for it. Oh that's funny Mr. Mouse. But really I'm not going near it. Why's that? Are you kidding did you see those scales looks like a dragon, it's liable to breathe fire on me! Yeah, I guess there's always that chance.🐲🔥🐀 Wait, it's ok, Andy repotted it. Yeah right, be pecked to death by a peacock, thank you, no. Oh, sorry Mr. Mouse.

Ew, Mr Mouse what are you spraying it stinks! It's to keep stuff out of the yard. PU smells awful. It's supposed to. What's it called? Goes by lots of names - Lion oil, lynx musk, tabby tonic. In layman's terms. Cat repellent! I don't see any of those around here. Good, that means it's working! 🐀💨😾
