2008 Expedition Heater Hose Replacement. I will show you how to remove these heater hoses very quick and easily without any special tools.
Would love to see how you got it off from the firewall.. that's my issue
Same way. Squeeze the white tabs in as far as you can and pull.
@@fixinstuff I was able to get it.. the position was just difficult
Use a wire hanger….wrap around the back of the quick connect and squeeze the wire closed
I just video with zip tie the thinner the better or a adjustable wrench.
Thanks for this! You saved me $329 (quote from dealer) on my 2007 Lincoln Navigator. I changed it myself, thanks to your easy instructions, and it only took me 20 minutes. It even took me longer than necessary, because I had to figure out how to get my big hands into the tight space where it connects to the heater core at the firewall. My cost: $37 plus shipping $7 for an ACDelco hose assembly. Thanks again!
Great to hear that!
Hi this is ABDULAZIZ from KSA I like your video it was helpful thank you but I face difficultly to remove it but I done it .best regard
Thanks. As a result of watching your video I was able to replace the split heater hose on my Expedition (280,000 miles) for the cost of the part.
Got it! Saved me $$ and accomplished it myself.
Thank you so much! Great video! I was going to go that same route fro my 08 - same issue - the T connector was leaking and became brittle. But I decided to to just replace the T with 1 inch PEX - and it worked fine!
The "T Connector" is the issues with these hoses. Good idea for a fix.
Thank you so much. You really took off a lot of stress. Thanks again!
Glad I could help!
I found a way to remove the heater hose from the firewall with one hand. The end of the hose can be rotated. So with index finger find one of the tabs and press it in. Rotate the hose 180 degrees with the same hand. Press on the other tab with the index finger. Pull the hose off the firewall. I had to work it a couple of times. Rotating the hose end either clockwise or counterclockwise was best based on ability to move my hand, but I can't remember which one was better. Try both directions to see what works best. Remove the plastic tab after the hose is pulled.
This comment saved my day.
Awesome... big thanks!!! I knew where the leak was at the T-connector, just didn't know if I needed special tools for removal.
Very helpful video my friend, much appreciated. I was about to go get those special plastic tools but no need. I would add that you should specify that you need to catch and pinch the ends of those tabs then pull the hose and it comes right off. During my experience, the tabs came off and I ended up having to break them off but all's good! Thanks again!
Glad to help!
Thank you so much! Saved me time, money, and headache!!
Just did mine , like the man said no tools needed like some other videos have said .it helps to give a small twist on the line first to unstick the internal o rings then push in on the line some squeeze the clips and pull off.
Exactly. Spray the fittings with WD silicone spray and they come off so much easier...
Quick note for everyone, never use those plumbing "worm drive" screw-in clamps. They all leak after a year or two as the rubber softens or deteriorates, and they start to leak, or you can over tighten them and you can break the connection especially when use on plastic connections. You need to install those Spring or "constant-tension" hose clamps the way they originally had them.
Thank you! This saved our vacation!
Thank you! Just got out of the hospital with our new foster baby and when momma started up the engine it was misfiring from the hose leak. That's when this crap always happens!
Thanks for the help.
Definitely helped us out. Thank you!
Awesome! Glad I could help.
Thank you so much you save me $115.00 from My local auto mechanic 🙏💕
Very helpful! Thanks for sharing.
I think mine is the same problem. I have an o6 and that T-connector keeps showing small signs of leakage every time i run the engine. I also have coolant in the first 2 spark plug wells on the top. Whats crazy is i thought i blew a head gasket. Why? Because i always assume the worst. Do you think that 3way T is leaking based off what im telling you? Couple weeks ago I noticed my coolant had gone a tiny bit low but normally there would be a puddle or something under the vehicle
To disconnect from the heater core is the clip the same as to the bottom of the T? Only ask because that wasn’t in the video and my hose busted in the curve at the thermostat housing
Thank you! Same setup on my 2010 F150 5.4L
Glad it helped
thanks for the video, do you have any idea whats the inner diameter of the heater hoses?
Thank you, nice video. I'm doing this for a coworker friday and was concerned of any air gaps getting into the heater core from the lines. Any issues that? My 04 cobra is notorious for over heating due to the slightest air pockets when changing out coolant lines.
No issues. After connecting the hose I ran the engine to temp to make sure the thermostat was open and ran the heat for about 15 minutes after that once everything cooled I topped off the reservoir with what I lost pulling the hose off.
@@fixinstuff finished this withing 20 minutes and without any issues. No over heating.
You might have oversimplified the removal. Lol that was not quite as simple as squeezing and pulling. But on the whole, job was completed and I am back on the road. Thank you!
LOL, sorry about that. Some do take a bit of a pull to come off.
How do you get to the firewall connections?!
Same way. Then use either a small pick or small flat blade screwdriver to gently lift the tabs on the insert that is left behind to remove it from the stem. Can also use a pair of wire snips to cut the insert. Just be careful not to scratch or gouge the stem.
Is that the inlet heater hose?
sure makes its a lot easier with a hose removal tool
OK one end goes to heater core!!!! WHAT DOES OTHER END GO TO I NEED GASKET FOR THAT.... PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME
Do you do the same for the rear hose because it’s pretty far in the back?
Yes. It’s a bit harder to get to but same process. The white compression ring may get left behind, just snip it with a small pair of wire cutters.
Dealer wants $750 for both hoses on my 2010 Navigator. I think I'm going to go get it and do the job myself. Looks the same as the Expedition in this video. Thanks.
$750! That's insane. It's a $50 hose. Use that extra $700 to buy yourself something nice!
What about the other one? It is very difficult to get the standard hose clamp off and hose off against the fire wall on my 2003.
This Ford was an 08. A relative has it now. I recently had to change the small extension against the firewall on the side of the roadway. Came off the same way.
Helped me , thanks for sharing.
You're welcome!
Which one is the inlet hose?
I have an 01 Ford Expedition 5.4 does it have the same clip on heater core. the hose broke right at the nipple part and it’s a B!$@& to squeeze the clip and remove when both hands can’t fit or pull on a nub. Any suggestions would appreciate thanks
Definitely it will help thanks.
You're welcome
The inside connection is the hard part, as there is not much room for big hands
i liked and suscribed.
Awesome, thanks!
How do you remove the other side
Great video! Thanks
Your welcome, thanks for the comment!
10 minutes ? ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha thanks for the laugh
Thanks bro. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Any time!
Thanks
Your welcome!
Do you have the part number???
Same hose just sitting a leak.. thanks...
all of that stress is gone now
Glad to hear that!
@@fixinstuff lol these connections are awful 😖 thanks for the top mister Scott
Would've been nice to know year & model of Expedition.. Not all the same!
Title says 5.4, If you have a 5.4 and quick connect hose fittings this is how to do it.
Dude, you need to pinch and then push down on the hose to release the catch before you can pull it off.
Mine won't come out. 😤 Might have to break them.
WHAT IS THAT WHOLE ASSEMBLY CALLED
Heater hose
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V50DFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Why didn't you show how you got the house off in the back??
Because it pulls off the same exact way
Now do that for 45 minutes cuz it's been on for 140k miles.
Lincoln navigator
anybody have a part number for the hose assembly shown? I have only found it at 1 supplier almost $80
Rock Auto Sells them FYI
KH-451. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V50DFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Why not show us the back part? That's the hardest
All those connections come off the same way. Back is a bit tighter but you could also use disconnection tools to assist. www.amazon.com/Lisle-39400-Angled-Disconnect-Tool/dp/B000W0UZHG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=ford+hose+disconnect+tool&qid=1615949016&sr=8-3
Why didn't you show how to get the hose on the firewall off? That looks like it's going to be a bitch to get off. Mine doesn't look the other two hose connections.
Can someone here explain in detail if they had trouble, or how to do it.
I had to work at it to get my two hands in there, but, standing on a stool to the side of the engine compartment, I worked my left hand in to pinch the tabs and gently twisted the hose extension off (still had the original configuration with a short extension connected to heater core at the firewall. There was nothing wrong with the extension, by the way. Why doesn't Ford or aftermarket co.'s make the shorter version available that just connects to the extension? It would have made it too easy I guess.
@@etrucker801 Did you have to remove the extension? If so, was there anything tricky about it?
Had to use two hands on that one and there is no where to rest the camera without it being in the way. All the connections remove the same way. A heater hose disconnect tool or angled disconnect tools should help but aren't needed.
About to do one meow
How did it go?
B Scott easy money, back one was probably the hardest to get to, but 35 mins total time for everything
@Drew Dyer The newer hoses eliminate the two piece rear hose. Its a bear to remove, because it's up tight to the firewall. I used small wire cutters to cut the plastic sleeve and pulled it off.
Yeah wtf what the last guy said
Sorry, but I did not see you showing clearly the tough part which is how to deal with the house going into the firewall.
10 mins. My a$$, total BS !! , Removing the quick connect almost in the firewall have to take for ever and difficult, reason why dealer charges $395.+ and the know and have tools, DO NOT MISLEAD PEOPLE GOING INTO THIS IS NOT EASY NOR FAST !
SHOW YOUR WORK IF YOU THINK I AM WRONG !!! With a clock running...
BS should have showed everyone the connection next to the firewall instead of showing everyone the easy one
At the time it didn't need replaced. But since you asked it removes the very same way. I did it on the side of the highway within a minute.
Took you 10 minutes just to get the second one off...

Thanks for the information.
