It was repainted _Blue tdf_ by the same company that Ferrari themselves contracted for painting back in the day as well as painting the green, silver, yellow, black n deep red F40s for the Sultan of Brunei. To me, non resale red Ferraris, especially the F40 n F50, are absolutely the ones to have.
@@PeterDrDeak Exceot this particular car’s history is inextricably linked to its colour - although because almost all are red (and remain red) I think the same would apply to any ‘tastefully done’ non red F40.

Excellent story! Thanks for sharing. Buying a regular Ferrari, if there is such a thing, was a headache for me also with the first few sellers and sales people being super flakey. Very cool journey, I listened to the American Horsepower podcast with John and my first thoughts were how frustrating those ups and downs must have been. Thankfully in the end you were able to acquire a truly historic F40 with your story adding to its incredible history!
Glad that you finally got your dream car and that it's being driven the way it's meant to. Truly a fitting owner for such a beast of an Italian tougrhobread racing machine.
Love the blue exterior and red seats! Glad to hear you have put 2000mi on it in 6 months. Cars, no matter their value, deserve owners that actually drive them. I understand these are investments but the original intent was for sport and fun. While not comparable to a F40, my r33 GT-R and Evo 5 were always dream cars to me. I proceeded to drive them hard and continue to do so as much as I can! Feel the same way about my bourbon collection, no unopened unicorns on the shelf!

The world wanted to tell you to get the 1 of 1 blue one. I have been dreaming of a Corvette C5 since my childhood. I didn't have a poster, but I was able to hustle enough to have a C4 model car and two C5-, one convertible. Also A F-40. Now when I run a small business and juggle with three kids, its hard to see that ever happen. The responsible choice is to have a VW Passat Variant and VW Golf Variant for my wife. But I still hope. Maybe when I am 55 and the kids have all grown up? These kinds of videos give me hope, its like window shopping to go through that experience. Thank you for that!

Man.... Not an "F40" by any means... but about 17 years ago, I had a mint (and I mean MINT) black on black, hardtop Formula 350 w/ less than 20k on the odometer. Long story short... was forced to sell it cheap to a friend when I found out I had a kid on the way. He kept the car for a couple of years in his garage and almost never used it. One day he called me and told me he was thinking of selling it (I wanted it back BAD, but didn't have the money)... It was for sale for like a solid 3 months and I saved every penny I could get my hands on. When I finally had the money (he was going to let me have it a lot cheaper than he was asking everyone else, too), I went that Saturday morning, got it all out of the bank, called him, and said "ok, I'm coming to get it!". I was DEVASTATED to hear him say "OH Man!! I literally JUST sold it like 45 mins ago!". 3+ solid months of it not selling, and then RIGHT before I can get to it... BOOM! I know it's only a 3rd gen f body... but it was a cool one. and it was unbelievably clean. I'm pretty certain I'd still have it today if I didn't have to sell it. :( Still hurts to this day!
Correctly stated, it would have been just another red F40, in blue, like it is, it is such a unicorn and the blue suits it so well, contrasting the red seats, it’s amazing! You are an amazing story teller and you have quite a story here, keep it up, great car guy content! Cheers from Macedonia!
Worth the wait! That thing is gorgeous! The red is bland and tiring for some, and lordy at least it wasn't the yellow. That blue is phenomenal! Cool story and it is hard not to stress about all this money and lifestyle while being so dang poor myself but still as a car guy and that being one of those dreams, nice to live vicariously and enjoy it with you. That is really cool! Thanks for sharing!
I have a lot of respect for people who drive their cars and don't let them sit collecting dust. Great story. Thanks for sharing. Although I have never been blessed to see one of these in person, I love that I can live vicariously through this story by owning an F40 in Gran Turismo 7 which I exclusively play in VR. No one needs to convince me that there is no comparison to the real thing. I understand. But I have a premium audio setup and also wear a haptic vest so every car in my virtual garage provides that enjoyment of hearing and feeling the revs of the engine as I look around at the accurately depicted cockpit. As soon as I hit send on this message I am off to take it for a few laps on the Nordschleife and to Circuit De la Sarthe. It is nowhere close to the enjoyment one would experience when getting to drive it for real, but at least I can take it for some rainy laps on those iconic tracks with no fear of damaging the car or loss of life. Subscribing as well and will be back for more!

What I appreciate is that you actually drive these cars! I saw you out in Houston area Sunday with this car!
Life is meant to be lived and cars are meant to be driven… HARD! 😂
I’m way to poor to relate to his dilemma and I just bought a 488GTB 😂
I’ve seen one red F-40 on the road in my 48 years on this planet. It’s was near NYC and the sound was epic! The only thing that could top that is a blue F-40! Congrats!
Absolutely love the channel!! The coverage you provide is really excellent. The detailed info while telling a story or giving direction is super easy to listen to/understand. Goes without saying a phenomenal personal car collection also doesn't hurt the channel 😂. Great content and much appreciated!
Much appreciated!
Excellent story!
Thanks for sharing.
Buying a regular Ferrari, if there is such a thing, was a headache for me also with the first few sellers and sales people being super flakey.
I can only imagine having a 1/3 of an F40 in cash tied up with false promises.
Wow. What a great ending and incredible car! (Tim visiting and knowing the car was super cool also.)
I’m a rosso corsa guy, so blue would have taken me time to warm up to also. The spec and story make it that much more special. Love it!
Cheers 🍻
It has really grown on me, but yes, I love the story and history this car has!
Patience is a virtue... U were rewarded for your effort.. 1 of 1 beauty..
Exactly.
Kudos to you man for being persistent on getting your dream car..I’m doing the same for a BAJA TRX Havoc
THIS is what was meant to be! What a journey. I bet that delivery experience was 10x better 😂
You waited long enough, you deserve that car, I’m glad you finally got it, enjoy it and make memories with it
Thanks a ton!
Very cool journey, I listened to the American Horsepower podcast with John and my first thoughts were how frustrating those ups and downs must have been. Thankfully in the end you were able to acquire a truly historic F40 with your story adding to its incredible history!
Thanks for listening
You’re my kind of guy! Thanks for being here!
Love the video I'm hoping myself to own a F40 in the near future! This video shows any one could achieve their dreams !
I remember this car being for sale, at the time it was a steal because for some reason nobody wanted a blue f40, dunno why its an f40 id take it in poo brown if it meant owning one.
Good to see its with somebody who loves it.
My dream car, I finally saw one in person and you can't believe how beautiful it is in person.
A perfect car for a gentleman. Loved the story and it also happened with me a couple times, with different values of course.
Man I have to say I love that color scheme blue with the red interior on an F40 is better than I could’ve imagined. Great story, great car collection 👍
Thanks a ton!
I love the Blue F40. I think you definitely got the best version of the car. Its stunning in blue. Well done and thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoy these videos because they’re a realistic insight into what getting some of these incredible cars is like. F the haters! Thanks and congrats on the awesome find.
I appreciate that!
I have never seen a blue F40. Stunning. If you’re ever driving through the motor city, stop by. 😊
I hear you, we are the same... my 7 year struggles to get a bus pass was epic !
Actually the blue is looking amazing and kinda unique!
Really enjoying this one :)
Great story, being a Porsche fan the Ferrari F40 is my one and only favorite Ferrari. Mr. Enzo Ferrari's best ever masterpiece. It's just a majestic symbol in simplicity and everlasting perfection. I hope you thoroughly enjoy that work of art.
Couldn't agree more!
The blue F40 is so gorgeous. 😍Glad these kids nowadays are so smart because of their phones.
'Sam's' F40 BLU is iconic! I hope this guy enjoys it to the max.
So glad to see the it’ll be used as intended and not hidden away in a garage
This guy is awesome! That sl65 Black still looks so mean after all these years.
It was a beast!
remember, every minute rich people spend on this car buying quest, they are not plotting next move on how to screw over poor and get richer!
good point.
They don’t need to do that themselves, they pay people to do their plotting for them.
Yup trying to leech off the working man.
Nice! Great story. No matter your bamk account and lifestyle, a car guy is a car guy. You can hear the passion in his voice. I've subscribed and look forward to some of his other stories.
Thank you!
Still hurts to this day!
The F40 is the most beautiful car ever created, IMO. I was so estatic to hear in the video that the owner actually drives the vehicle. 👌
Bring back the rack for the people that owned that dealership.
Correctly stated, it would have been just another red F40, in blue, like it is, it is such a unicorn and the blue suits it so well, contrasting the red seats, it’s amazing! You are an amazing story teller and you have quite a story here, keep it up, great car guy content! Cheers from Macedonia!
Wow! Thank you very much!
The insight is awesome. So much happens in the exotic car market that most don’t get to see
Indeed it does!
Mostly just rapacious people trying to get a slice of a cake they don't own, and owners breaking their word if the cash payout is big enough.
My take away is, out of all of the resources and nice possessions he owns, having a supportive wife who encourages you is priceless.
You absolutely NAILED it! She’s amazing!
Brilliant to hear the buying journey and what a special and unique F40
Congratulations🎉 !!!!!
The F40 was my poster car.
Persistence paid off eventually 👍🇦🇺
I have a lot of respect for people who drive their cars and don't let them sit collecting dust. Nothing pisses me off more than having a beautiful car just sitting and collecting dust, cars are meant to be driven. I had one of six of the production prototype of the last Ford Aussie muscle car the FGX XR8 Sprint, and i put 16,000kms on it while i owned it over 6 years.
This was actually really entertaining to listen to.
I’ve been following Sam for a number of years and really loved the Porsche color he chose…congrats on a beautiful car and spec.
Thanks for sharing!
Love the 599GTO. Remember Clarkson reviewing it and fell in love
It’s epic to drive! Last truly raw V12 from Ferrari.
@@thegentlemansgarage_ I remember him saying it processed more data quicker than an F16 fighter jet or something. That without the driver assist it was a savage. That era of Ferrari V12’s were beautiful from the 599’s to the 812’s. sad to see it end

Subscribed. Looking forward to the continuing journey. Glad your wife and children are supportive! That is rare…trust me.
Thank you so much!
This was interesting for me. Last i heard every F40 was painted red from factory. I did not know about this one!!! So cool. If i ever get my hands on one I’ll send it to Vinaccia to get painted Giallo Modena.
I think it's awesome that you drive it and u didn't buy it to put in a bubble. Respect
blue is epic. my favorite color for this car. i don't understand car collecting, but to each their own.
Shout-out to your son. You ended up getting a 1 of 1. You can enjoy it. Its will always go up in value even if you put miles on it because its the only one in that colour painted original by the f40 painters.
That would have been the case if it would have been painted in blue from the factory when it was produced, but all F40 were painted in red and the car was repainted years later by Zanassi which doesnt make the car worth more. If you want you F40 painted pink you can also go to Zanassi and than it would be the 1of1 pink F40
The F40 is the best looking car ever made period……. my personal opinion. Wowwww how amazing to own a one of one, absolutely beautiful in blue 😍😍 Blessings 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I've had the pleasure of driving one down the Autobahn about 18 years ago. I've been building race cars for decades now, and the F40 is in a league of its own. Raw. That's the only description I can give it.
Incredible experience.
@@thegentlemansgarage_ It's a memory I'll never forget. It ranks up there with winning a World Challenge race or a Rolex Series race with Wolf Henzler and Leh Keen.
Absolutely love this channel. Can’t decide which of the collection is my fav. F40 content is top drawer.
Wow, thank you!
I love that you've put miles on that car. That's what you're supposed to do. (As I look to my McLaren 650s with 40,000 miles on it!) Loved the video bro. Keep 'em coming.
Couldn't agree more!
28000km - used just enough to keep it all running sweet and in harmony. Saw my first F40 for real last year, here in Sydney. Owner was a true gent letting admirers in close to see the car properly. Blue looks excellent on the F40 lines IMO.
Awesome story! It's like most things in life & business; if you have to force it to work it's not the right time, right person, or right deal.
It really is a VERY proper paintjob. I would say this car has a MUCH better paint job than the ones painted at the factory originally.
Saw one at dawn in Christchurch city, new Zealand.About 1992.Red,came out of underground car park. What a sound and sight.Even at 30 mph.
Wow. What a story. This blue F40 is quite famous. Enjoy to drive it. 😊😊😊
I still prefer the red but your son was 100% right. I own only two vehicles,a 13,000 mile lighting and a 07 GT500 @770rwhp. Love the lighting, both red
