@@stevechance150it depends. I know and partly agree with you but it all boils down to how much money you have.
For some people 2.5 mill is absolutely nothing. I think the biggest euromillions prize was 250 mill euros, deduct 20% tax from that and you're left with 200 mill cash.
2.5 million is nothing if you have 200 in the bank, you'd buy it and still be left with 197 million.
Also, I'm partial because it's my favourite Ferrari lol therefore I would definitely get one if I could, but I wouldn't drive it. I know it's a machine meant to be driven and enjoyed but for me it's more a piece of art than a car.
It's beautiful and would sit very neatly and taken care of in my man cave lol

Excellent! I’m probably in a better position than most to comment as I’ve had 9000km in 18 months in mine!
A really in depth and accurate summation. To be honest I was a wee bit embarrassed owning one of these other worldly super cars.
Non cat, non adjust, harnesses and window winders. Reading many of the other comments from those not yet lucky enough to experience one is humbling, I mean just how lucky was I? The best bit was that it cost me a fraction of the current eye watering sums. The seat covers were poor, wore badly and the rear clam pole reminded me of a collapsible walking stick! Massive brake fade and yes, on boost it was “warp factor 9 scotty” stuff. After approximately 240kph whatever you saw was almost immediately behind you! Stupidly I needed 2 turbos as I didn’t spool them down to cool temp. Frustratingly it needed a new short engine as “fix it again Tony” hadn’t fitted the crank thrust washers correctly on build. So 4 tyres, 2 turbos, 4 discs,1 anti roll bar drop link and a short motor😱from memory I was told that the smaller gauges came from the Fiat panda parts bin. Stereo, are you kidding? The only sound track on offer was a wailing v8 right behind you. I still recall the lovely whoosh too! Thanks for opening my memory bank!

brilliant video! I doubt I will ever own one of these magnificent beasts, but I did have the honor and privilege of babysitting two of them at Mosport International Raceway in souther Ontario, Canada. It was the 24 hour race weekend and the Italian racing team came over with, 2 cars, a spare engine and chassis, and a whole team of mechanics, only one of which spoke english. My friend Dave and I were asked to stay in the tent with the cars to... keep anyone from sneaking in and taking anything as a trophy, that kinda thing. Dave speaks a bit of Italian, so he was able to translate for me, and we stayed the night inside the tent, drinking Jolt cola, playing cards... and in awe of the two marvels of engineering we were tasked to guard.
The next morning, the team returned from their hotels and invited both of us for a lap around the circuit, in the ... well passenger seat isn't accurate, due to the fact that it had been removed and replaced with a box. Of course we said Yes! Dave in the lead car and me in the one following one. There is NO sound dampening.. there was no padding apart from a few pieces on the cage. There was NO comfort at all. And it was glorious! I still shiver when I think about it, because I was practically holding myself up in position, fighting not to fall over on the driver, as he played with the other driver around the course. The hairpin was obviously the highlight. My legs were like jello for an hour afterwards, but I would have gone around again, in a second. S
Sadly neither car finished the race. The first was plagued with transmission problems and the second one retired due to overheating issues. It was a very VERY hot weekend.

Early 90's a battered example with scraped bumpers and a cracked engine cover filled with leaves was parked outside Galeries Lafayette on the Champs-Elysses in Paris. As I was walking round it a young man jumped in and blasted off in the direction of the Arc de Triomphe, real casual. Wanted one ever since.

I feel the same way about the 288 GTO as he feels about the F40!! The F40 is amazing and probably better performance, however, the 288GTO is simply the most beautiful car ever made by the hands of man!!
