tatts become irritated with rubbing, scratching and it flairs up, that is what is going to happen to a tattoo area even if you had it for 10 years, fact, leave it alone, don't rub it, moisturise the tatt area as it has to be moisturised at all times and use dettol when you have a flair up and leave it alone, the bumps will dissapear

Thank you for the info, man. At the very least I know it’s not just happening to me, and it’s normal. It’s not on all of my tattoos, but the one on my shoulder I just got 2 months ago. It healed perfectly, but now that summers in season, it’s a little bumpy at the edges. I’ll go back to my usual moisturizing routine and deal with it.

After 12 years of having my tattoo i just woke up one day and it was bumpy beyond belief. I got extremely worried but after reading and watching a few videos i realised i should only really go to the doctor if its red, itching a lot and bumpy for a long time. Luckily for me a few hours later the swelling (bumps) disapppeared without doing anything.

Hi there! It sounds like an irritation due to weather change or possibly that you came in contact with some type of irritant.
My suggestion would be to NOT excessively touch the area when bumps appear, do NOT itch the area either...this will irritate it even more in most cases. Use a mild soap and water a couple times per day. Avoid direct sunlight on the tattooed area. Avoid sweat staying on the tattooed area. Use a cool compress wrapped in a towel if it is itchy. Pure rose water hydrosol seems to work the best for those that have issues with this. Once it dries on the skin, then apply a thin layer of Protect Your Ink. You can use this remedy 2-3 times per day until everything clears up :) I hope this helps!

Hey there! I am so sorry to hear this!! This sounds like an irritation due to weather changes possibly or the type of ink that your artist is using potentially. If it is happening with both of your tattoos like that and there is not a big change in humidity or temp...then it could be the ink. It could also be from your psoriasis or a skin condition... I got my first ever tattoo on my forearm 3 weeks ago and followed my tattoo artist's aftercare instructions word for word. I washed it with cool water and anti-bac soap, pat-dried it with kitchen roll, and applied a thin layer of fragrance-free cocoa butter cream. The tattoo peeled successfully with no issues and everything was ok. Over the last few days though, small bumps have started to appear all over the tattoo. They itch slightly and sting every now and again. The tattoo isn't warm or hot to touch however, and the bumps aren't white pimples or acne spots. I haven't changed my aftercare routine or the products I was using, and I haven't been exposed to sunlight or chemicals. Do you have any advice?

I read a couple years ago that certain types of black ink have a component that undergoes a chemical reaction from UV exposure; so being in the sun causes the reaction, and then you react to whatever chemical it has broken down to. I came here hoping for a scientific explanation. My first black tattoo has never had an issue. The next ones were done by a different artist, likely different ink. Her black lines developed super itchy bumps an entire summer, about 6 months after it has healed. Eventually it stopped. I am hoping to find someone the knows more about this, because now I’m afraid to get another tattoo and appear to have other allergies.

Hi there! It sounds like an irritation vs infection.
Have you been exposed to any chemicals, anything you may be allergic to or that irritates your skin? Have you experienced any weather changes...especially dry to humid and vice versa? This can also be caused from poor quality ink or heavily scarred tattoos. If you are prone to acne, you may see little bumps that are actually pimples as well. For some, sun exposure can heavily affect tattoos as well.

Hey there! Yes, that is completely normal for that to happen with new sun exposure, bug bites, coming into contact with any kind of chemicals, etc. The body reacts in all different ways. Heat vs cold, Humid vs Dry also have a huge impact to our skin and can cause these bumps. I would recommend spraying with rose water twice per day and once dry, a thin little layer of protect your ink. Should clear it up within a few days or so. www.pinupsandneedles.com/tattoo-aftercare-instructions/

Oof , everyone heals differently . Your ink is still fresh for at least 2 weeks to 2 months. The itch is your skin healing, and can be relieved with some coconut oil and patting, the scabs are normal, but don't pick them. They fall off on their own. The liquid you see coming out is normal also, it is white blood cells. If the liquid coming from it is green or yellow and smells go to the hospital, that means it's infected. Other than that all your symptoms are normal. Make sure to keep your ink clean, and remember Pat dont scratch

Hey there! This sounds like an irritation due to weather change or that the tattoo was overworked a bit. My suggestion when this happens would be to NOT excessively touch the area when bumps appear, do NOT itch the area either...this will irritate it even more in most cases. You can use this remedy 2-3 times per day until everything clears up :) I hope this helps!

ok i am freaking out a little here.
I got tattooed a month ago, the design is absoilutely beautiful, experienced tattoo artist end everything.
My arm tattoo today, after a month seem fully healed but i can feel in some part around my elbow, the outlines of the tattoo.
Not on the arm but around the top of the arm, by the elbow i can feel the outlines, which is black ink.
what's going on? it';s not my first rodeo so i know how it should work, and that doesn't feel normal, of and it's still a little dry

It sounds like scar tissue maybe a bit overworked.... I would recommend rose water and protect your ink. Once fully healed I would recommend mederma overnight every day, for 1-6 months

I'm so sorry to hear that! It sounds like your artist may have gone too deep or overworked the area when doing the touchup. There isn't a whole lot you can do with scar tissue. You could try getting mederma and applying every day for a minimum of a month. That does help some people to minimize scar tissue. Make sure you are diligent and do not miss any days though! Good luck my friend!

    Hey Brodie ,
I got a tattoo on my thigh about two and a half months ago. The tattoo is very thick black ink . I noticed it itches at least twice a day . Also the tattoo is very bumpy almost like it’s a 3 D tattoo. I wanna call it raised skin . There’s a little bit of I wanna say pimples around it or I guess reaction to the itchy ness. Should I be very concerned ??

Hey, thanks for the video! I have a quote tattoo on my arm that gets itchy and bumpy all the time. I have some other tattoos from the same tattooer and they're ok. Its not that professional, I can see its messed up. He stung the needle deep in my arm so he probably scared it but most of the time I cant really feel it. Its like a year old tattoo.
Do you think its because the ink is so deep? Its black ink btw

It's my pleasure! Yes that definitely sounds like scarring from over working the area being tattooed. I'm so sorry to hear this my friend! One thing you can do to help with scarring on a fully healed Tattoo is use some mederma. You should use it every day for a few months. It should help to minimize that :)
If you do have times of break outs of it being itchy, raised more, etc then you should do the following to help -
My suggestion would be to NOT excessively touch the area when bumps appear, do NOT itch the area either...this will irritate it even more in most cases. Use a mild soap and water a couple times per day. Avoid direct sunlight on the tattooed area. Avoid sweat staying on the tattooed area. Use a cool compress wrapped in a towel if it is itchy. I’ve got tats on both my forearms. Had small bumps that popped up in one localized location, they started to go away but then popped up on the other side of the arm, those also started to go away. I didn’t do really anything to them. But now they are on my other arm and even worse. I have MOSTLY black ink with a touch of pink and green that never got hit. But a lot of bumps have popped up on the other arm that’s all black ink. They slightly itch at times. These tats have been healed for months, the one that started first had been healed for a year. I don’t think it’s an allergy based on your video which I’m hoping it’s not because I want more tats. But how can I be sure? Should I start with the rose water and just attack it like specified in the video? They aren’t red and don’t hurt unless really messed with.

Hi I have a Japanese sleeve tattoo mostly black and grey with a yellow/gold koi, red oni mask, and orange tiger. Recently parts or the koi and tiger that are on the outer part of my arm started getting these bumps and getting itchy. Part of the tiger looked kind of like a rash and had one or two pimples in that area. Because it’s on the outer arm my guess is that it’s the sun and the change in weather getting hotter here in NC. I ordered your rose water spray and it seems to be helping a bit but it is my first day using it and my skin is still drying out in the area I sprayed. Am I supposed to spray the rose water after washing the tattoo and let it sit and dry or rub it in after spraying?

Hi there Eric! My recommendation for best use of the rose water is to take a shower or wash the area with warm water. You want your pores to be as open as possible for best use. After getting out of the shower or washing the area, let it air dry or pat dry with a clean towel. Spray the rose water and then let it air dry. You can repeat this 2-3 times per day and if it is still getting dry in between then keep your rose water with you and give it a few extra sprays in between :) let me know if that helps and good luck my friend!

@@ericjohn7663 It's my pleasure!! Ok wonderful :) I am so happy to hear that and that you are loving it...that stuff is pure magic! As far as the drying out...if it keeps happening, you could always do a very thin layer of a lotion or oil, but do make sure that everything is natural that you are putting on there. Some oils to consider would be a mix of grapeseed oil with a couple drops of an essential oil for a nice smell...I would not recommend tea tree oil as it will more than likely dry it out more, but you could do a little lavender, eucalyptus or peppermint as long as you don't have any allergies to them. You could also do a mild lotion but check all ingredients to avoid any further issues with the bumps you are experiencing :D

Hi there! You should be safe to get another tattoo. It sounds like an irritation due to potential scar tissue or possibly that you came in contact with a chemical or some type of irritant.
For some, sun exposure and weather changes can heavily affect tattoos. This isn't a concern necessarily but if it continues or is bothering you....
Greetings to you!!!
Have you been exposed to any chemicals, anything you may be allergic to or that irritates your skin? As far as the suncreen you are using, have you used it before? You might want to look through the ingredient list...there could be something in there that may be causing an irritation to you. Have you experienced any weather changes...especially dry to humid and vice versa? For some, sun exposure can heavily affect tattoos as well.
Have you had an dietary changes? The burning you are talking about when sweating almost sounds like a change in diet, an introduction of a topical that may be irritating your skin, possibly even a change in laundry detergent potentially. A change in body wash or lotion? Think about when this started and if there were any changes at all to your regular routine.
My suggestion would be to NOT excessively touch the area when irritation begins, do NOT itch the area either...this will irritate it even more in most cases. Use a mild soap and water a couple times per day. Avoid direct sunlight on the tattooed area. Avoid sweat staying on the tattooed area. Use a cool compress wrapped in a towel if it is itchy. @CharlesComber  3 года назад

I'm so sorry to hear that! I would recommend pure rose hydrosol and protect your ink roughly 2 times per day, this regimen has help so many people that have experienced similar issues -
      1. After your shower or cleaning of the area, let air dry or dab dry with a clean towel
      2. Once dry, spray the area and roughly an inch around that area with the rose water. Let air dry
      3. One dry, apply a thin layer of protect your ink (it should be a very thin layer, enough to cover the area and only have a nice little shine)
      4. Repeat again in the evening. If you notice it drying or becoming irritated throughout the day, keep your rose water with you and give it a spray every now and then :)
      www.pinupsandneedles.com/store/natural-products/anti-aging-products/rose-water-je-vois-la-vie-en-rose/
      www.pinupsandneedles.com/store/natural-products/aftercare-products/protect-your-ink-tattoo-aftercare-salve-2oz/
Although uncommon, tattoos can in-fact scar if the artist was too heavy-handed and penetrated the needles too far into the skin and caused deep tissue damage
As scars form, the body sends quite a large blood supply to the area, which can cause the scars to raise above the skin, and they can look and feel very bumpy, especially if a lot of damage was done.
After a month or two (but sometimes up to 3 months), a scar will usually begin to settle into the skin and fade slightly, and therefore will generally sit more flat against the surrounding area.
Strangely, the weather can also cause your tattoos to raise or turn bumpy. While this isn’t caused by the weather itself, it is caused by what the weather can potentially do to your body.
Dry air and humidity changes are one of the reasons why older tattoos can suddenly become raised.
Warmer weather increases humidity, which can cause the skin to swell. This swelling stretches the skin slightly, which is able to cause irritation and subtle raising.
Colder weather is also well-known for affecting the skin, with dryness being the main issue. Dry skin can cause itching and irritation, which can in turn cause an area to raise or turn bumpy until the source of irritation has been resolved.

Hi I got my tattooo month ago and the outline has become bumpy but not itching

    • @CharlesComber
      @CharlesComber  2 года назад

Hi there! It sounds like an irritation due to weather change or possibly that you came in contact with a chemical or some type of irritant.
For some, sun exposure can heavily affect tattoos.
You can use this remedy 2-3 times per day until everything clears up :) I hope this helps!

hi there, if you are allergic to red ink I would highly advise getting any red on your body. If you recently got one with red, I would recommend pure rose hydrosol and and oral benadryl - www.pinupsandneedles.com/store/natural-products/anti-aging-products/rose-water-je-vois-la-vie-en-rose/
I would also recommend going to a doctor if the issue worsens and contacting your tattoo artist :)

Hey! I'm sorry to hear this! It sounds like a combination of things but definitely humidity has a high factor for many people. I'd highly recommend a very thin layer of Protect Your Ink and spray rose water on it. Rose water 2-3 times per day and let it air dry. It works wonders!

I bought the rose water, can I use the lotion that I have until I can get the protec the ink? I tried cortizone but my skin really does not like it, it was really red and mire irrtitant. When I use my lotion it relaxes it a little, but the bumps do not go away, but the itching does for a few hours. I guess I'm gonna try benadryl pill, because my skin is very sensitive. Once I recieve my Rose hydrosol, can I combine it with the lotion? Thanks for the reply ✌🏽

Hey, thanks for talking about this. I have a cross tattoo for my Mom and Dad, takes up the entire under side of my forearm. I've had it for two years, and out of nowhere the black lines started bumping up and getting itchy. Then the red started breaking out too. What's weird is that the lettering tattoo that I got a few months later on the underside of my wrist doesn't have any irritation. I've been keeping it at bay with steroid cream and antihistamines. Gonna have to see the Dr.

It's my pleasure! I'm very sorry to hear that. Was there a weather change or did you travel at all when the bumps started to appear? Come into contact with a chemical? Change your laundry detergent? Have a change to your diet? I've seen all of these things affect tattoos before

@@CharlesComber I believe it was two factors. I have a different type of cleaning and disinfecting wipe that I use in my office. I usually wipe my desk down with it, and I have a keyboard mat across it. I think the keyboard mat soaked some in, then I rest my tattoo right on it. It's only half the tattoo, the same half that rests on the mat. Also, the weathers been nuts here. Cold, warm, humid, dry and not to mention the AC kicks on at work, then the heat. It's been an extreme year. I started washing it with clean and gentle fragrance and dye-free soap, patting it dry, letting it air, then using a tiny bit of aquaphor. The itching is going away and so are the bumps.

    Hii there
    I had a problem too...but I don't know what to do
I am from India and I got a tattoo for the first time...but after 2-3 months my tattoo started to itch and there were small bumps (it's a dog paw tattoo) all over it.... During this period of time there was a slight weather change like when I got the tattoo it was summer season and now like after 2-3 months rainy season came in and it started raining everyday so the weather was sometimes humid sometimes clear and sometimes cold ...so I wanted to know why this is happening to my tattoo ...I really love tattoos and as because this is my first time having a tattoo I am really concerned and afraid.... Also I cannot afford those products you mentioned in this video 🥺..it would really really mean a lot if you can suggest something to me and tell me the reason for this 🥺

    • @CharlesComber
      @CharlesComber  3 года назад +1

Hi there! That could absolutely be from the weather change...especially dry to humid and vice versa. It can also be from poor quality ink or heavily scarred tattoos. Drastic changes in weather can cause these bumps. If you are prone to acne, you may see little bumps that are actually pimples as well. For some, sun exposure can heavily affect tattoos as well. Since you cannot afford the products mentioned, my suggestion would be to NOT excessively touch the area when bumps appear, do NOT itch the area either...this will irritate it even more in most cases. Use a mild soap and water a couple times per day. Avoid direct sunlight on the tattooed area. Avoid sweat staying on the tattooed area. Use a cool compress wrapped in a towel if it is itchy. Pure rose water hydrosol seems to work the best for those that have issues with this, but do your best with home remedies if you can't get some of those :) I hope this helps!
