Imagine in another universe, the Giants were the NFC champions, and the Jets were the AFC champions with the same records and were facing off in the superbowl and that year it was hosted at MetLife Stadium.
This was really cool to see. At times I've sometimes wondered how hard it is to transition from one team to another in the same stadium from week to week.
Hard to imagine when they play each other how it goes down. If it's a Giants home game the stadium is set up in Giants colours and signage yet the Jets play there every week and their fans will still be there and vice versa. Kinda funny really to show up at your own stadium and see it decked out in another teams colours.
was a joke a while ago about sarah palin saying that shes qualified for vice president. she used the "i can see russia from my house" as an example of her diplomatic abilities.
Imagine this for a SuperBowl: Jets vs Giants in MetLife Texans vs Cowboys in NRG or AT&T 49ers vs Raiders in Levi's Chargers vs Rams in whatever their stadium name is Dolphins vs Buccaneers in Sunlife
Why do people keep asking what happens when the Giants play the Jets? They played a few weeks ago, whoever the home team is, that's what it is. Watch the footage
Qasim Momin That's a reference to a famous Saturday Night Live skit involving Tina Fey as Sarah Palin (who says the line) and Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton.
It's so funny that they flip the pictures and you go from Howard Cross of Giants fame to JayZ... I mean you guys couldn't find any pictures of like...Wayne Chrebet or anything?
I remember years ago they were talking about the Jets having their own stadium but it never came to fruition. Of course, watching this video I'm kinda getting a preview of what we can expect in Los Angeles when that stadium opens as the home of the Rams and Chargers.
I went to MetLife stadium for the first and second time ever when I saw the Giants on Friday night and the Jets the next night and I also wanted to know how they did this change over so quickly. Thanks for the video. Btw the Jets game was much more fun.
Nice. I’ve been meaning to watch this for awhile. I’ve been to two nfl games. Once Giants game and one Jets game so this crossover was definitely something I wanted to learn about!!
Ok, I can understand some things needing to be manually changed out, like the field and the banners. But the light filters outside? Why not just use lights that have automatic color filters? And as far as things like the banners/ring of honor that wraps around the stadium, why not just use LED displays?
The Giants have no reason to be angry about sharing the stadium with the Jets as its divided 50/50 between the two teams, I do wish that the Jets plans for West Side Stadium had worked out though as it would have been unbelievable and probably the coolest stadium in the league
As a neutral party I can say that as long as the Jets share anything with the Giants, they'll be considered as subleasing tenants. Same as the Clippers and Chargers
I am still amazed that this stadium was 1.6 Billion for what seems like so little. Its like barely better than the old Giants stadium. Reliant stadium by contrast looks really nice and has a retractable dome and was 330 Million. I think the NFL made a big mistake to break its own rules and allow a Superbowl at Metlife stadium. Most people want to see the best team, not hindered by bad weather. The next closest stadium cost I think was the 1.2 Billion stadium the Cowboys play in at least has 90-120 thousand seats, retractable dome, air-conditioning, underground box seats, and the huge display. I don't get all the bars on the outside of Metlife stadium either. Am I too critical? Did the stadium really cost 200 million and someone else got the rest of the money? Is there something I am missing? I guess I am still in price tag sticker shock.
New York City: Union Labor capital of the world. That mentality extends to most of northeast Jersey as well. A renovation project a couple miles from my house, for a small bridge for a one-lane road over a creek barely 3 feet wide, took over a YEAR to complete.
yeah i'm shocked at some of these venues (especially new york) that cost in the billions, when most stadiums cost 500 million or less. i mean i just saw a video on here about a renovation of madison square garden that cost 1 billion...for just a renovation. based on the prices of most arenas, two could have been built from scratch and still have money left over. the problem with these new york venues is that they suck all the sports soul out of the venue and put in something thats cold and stale and says "this is where you come if you're rich and want to go on a business outing" as opposed to "this is where you come to root for the team you grew up with." yankee stadium (which cost 1.5 billion) and madison square garden supposedly don't even allow people to go down to the floor to watch warm ups like every other venue does, which is something that kids love doing. and two teams sharing the stadium just furthers the whole "cookie cutter" stadium idea. each individual team's stadium should have some kind of distint feature, like a statue of a great player, or engravings of some kind. swapping banners out and changing a few lights isn't nearly the same thing. if i were a new york football fan, in the back of my mind i would always be thinking "this isn't quite my home team's building"
***** Each team *did* try to personalize the stadium, but they wanted to go in opposite directions with the concept. The reason why the stadium itself is super-fugly is because the Giants wanted a more rustic appearance (think the old Yankee Stadium), while the Jets wanted a frigging spaceship. As you can probably understand, those two concepts should never be mixed into a building facade. They try to correct some of it with lighting (Giants use more white/gray lighting through the slats to try and make it look more like a solid wall, while the Jets throw green light to make it look like a goddamn Borg Cube).
For a long time, Cleveland Municipal Stadium had both the baseball and football teams; from 1946 to when Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field) opened in 1994. It then housed the football games until it was closed up in 1995 and demolished in 1996-1997.
Hey Wendy, do you also see Australia from your end zone to the other end zone 100 yards away or way down under the changeable field turf surface at Met Life Stadium?
+riobannz Exactly what I thought. The only way they can get away with that is if someone in the state labor department got paid off. Oh well it is New Jersey.
@Jeremy Medlock no the Giants deserve to stay in NYC. It's one of the oldest teams with the most history. It has always been in NYC. If anything were to happen, the Jets should change their name and head out to somewhere else

Osky PvP I criticize an entire team and an organization and you criticize one man? For the past 45 years the Jets have been trying to recreate the media hype that Joe Namath had put around the team when he played and as a result it has cost them. That's why they keep on trying to sign phenomenal players that just don't fit into their offensive system. We're talking about the team that misused Plaxico Burress, LaDanian Tomlinson, and Michael Vick. Not to mention, they signed Tim Tebow for NO reason. The fact is, if you're a Jet's fan you shouldn't be defending such horseshit. Unless you don't wanna every see the Jets get to a Super Bowl. In that case blindly support this poorly run franchise. Heck at this rate I feel like it is more likely for Jacksonville to win 2 Superbowls in a row then it is for the Jet's to win the AFC Conference Final.
they shouldve let the giants keep giants stadium and let the jets have metlife. i mean, giants stadium was really never the jets stadium, the seats were blue and red and the giants had the name so they should've had both stadiums
As a non-NY resident who has a team in the NFC, I prefer the Jets. I think, if I was a NY resident, I would prefer the Giants. As a Vikings fan, the Giants have the potential to get our way in the NFC.
Its great that these teams share a stadium. Building new stadiums for these teams all the time is such a waste of resources and money, and it's even worse for football, where a team only uses their home building 8 times a year.
i always felt that the jets were always 2nd to the giants in home staduims. take the seats for example the old staduim had blue seating the new staduim has blue seating. for a multi team staduim the giants always seem presented more than the jets.
SteelCity1981 As a Jets fan nothing I hate more than the Giants and ofcourse those mother fucking Patriots. But I can grudgingly admit there is a reason for the blue seats and so on and so forth. Giants are a winning franchise, for our team to get respect we have to show we can win, which we have never been able to. I hope one day our time comes as well. Till then, we can't complain about the favoritism for the Giants.
SteelCity1981 MetLife has grey seats, did you not watch the video? Both teams are represented identically at MetLife, as this video shows, has nothing to with each teams performance.
Why wouldn't they just have 2 separate sets of lights outdoors? Would make more sense to just leave the filters where they are and simply turn off the 'Giants' lights and turn on the 'Jets' lights when needed. Less time and saves $ of someone having to go up and change the filter every time.
+Matt Tonucci That's a good point! LED's can change color using the same exact bulbs. Obviously it has to be a union thing, and everyone knows that the unions are pretty damn tight in NY/NJ!
+Briandrum it might be that when the stadium was built they did that, with LED's just making their way into the market they might do that in the future. But then again, if it ain't broke why fix it.
There's been a few weeks where both teams were on the road and there was another event there like a concert or something like that....but for the most part of the season yeah one of the two is there almost every weekend
New York City costs a lot of money to build on.The Levi's Stadium, AT&T Stadium, Century Link, Reliant stadium, Lucas Oil, Uni of Phoenix stadium, Lambeau Field, and Louisiana super dome all look nicer than this garbage and for a fraction of the price.
You know, for the lighting, they could just use RBGW LED fixtures and change it remotely. They’re already doing it in the store as seen. For the pole banners there are LCD screens that could be utilized and changed remotely.
Dude missed his shot. When she said “I’m always finishing before you” he could have said “yeah, cause I’m a gentleman, I always let the woman finish first”
The two Los Angeles NFL teams get their own separate stadiums while the the two New York teams share one stadium. If the Jets play at the Giants, then the Giants have the home field advantage. If the Giants play at the Jets, then the Jets have the home field advantage.
I've noticed that most US stadiums don't have a roof. I mean they spend like $500M building a new stadium, why not add the roofs? Is it done purposely or is it part of the culture? Or do the fans prefer it that way? Just asking, because I'm not American and that has always intrigued me.
Bigger states have more teams. Texas has the Texans and Cowvboys (AFC NFC), Florida has Dolphins, Buccaneers, and the Jaguars. California has the 49ers, Raiders, Chargers, (and since I'm replying 2 years late) the Rams.Ohio has the Browns and the Bengals. Pennsylvania has Eagles and Steelers. Maryland has the Redskins and Ravens. And New York also has the Bills.
+superbob24 he's talking about two teams in the same CITY. I hate it to, White Sox fans bandwagon to the Cubs, Angels fans bandwagon to the Dodgers, Mets fans bandwagon to the Yankees. It sucks.
What's a dopey comment. Giant fans don't root for the Jets and visa versa, just like I don't cheer on the White Sox just because they share Chicago with my Cubs.
“Is the neutral seat color inentional” No they change the 82,500 seats from blue to green seats.

+Briandrum it might be that when the stadium was built they did that, with LED's just making their way into the market they might do that in the future. But then again, if it ain't broke why fix it.
Alex Marquette it could also be that the stadium was running low on its budget when being built, so they may have decided to cut some costs
Now SoFi stadium is the Second stadium to host 2 teams. LA Chargers, and LA Rams
Does that mean MetLife sees action every single week of the NFL season?
I think there has been a couple times where one of teams would be on a bye and the other on the road
Shane Pennington pretty much yeah
Not necessarily. Both teams can be on the road
There's been a few weeks where both teams were on the road and there was another event there like a concert or something like that....but for the most part of the season yeah one of the two is there almost every weekend
U
Ive genuinely always wondered about this. Awesome to see it how its done. Now if the presenter wasn't so ditzy i would've called it an awesome video.
Who else is seeing this in 2020
Anyone here after the 49ers dropped like flies on that field?
Sure why not
it's unbelieveable that this thing cost more then the wembley stadium or the cowboy stadium. what on earth did they spend those 1.6 billion on?
New York City costs a lot of money to build on.The Levi's Stadium, AT&T Stadium, Century Link, Reliant stadium, Lucas Oil, Uni of Phoenix stadium, Lambeau Field, and Louisiana super dome all look nicer than this garbage and for a fraction of the price.
metlife aint garbage my boi, u ever been here?
BROETHER, CAN I HAVE THE LOOPS Metlife is nicer than all the stadiums ge just listed haha
I always wonder how they can not have a roof that at least covers the fans.
And the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals will be held at MetLife Stadium!
Someday when everything has a micro computer in it they'll just push a button and everything will switch color/logos.
You know, for the lighting, they could just use RBGW LED fixtures and change it remotely. They’re already doing it in the store as seen. For the pole banners there are LCD screens that could be utilized and changed remotely.
1:53 key bump!!
To own this stadium would be incredible - right off the bat the CF are doubled with two teams sharing the stadium
Dude missed his shot. When she said “I’m always finishing before you” he could have said “yeah, cause I’m a gentleman, I always let the woman finish first”
I remember the dirt stuff all in my hands when I was sacked bc my line needed some serious help. Always came home with some cool battle scars
never have I ever cringed so much
I always wondered how they did this.
Can someone tell me what they do when the Giants play the Jets.
Aaron Valadez
It depends who is home if the Giants are home, then it's their colors if the Jets are home, it's their colors
so cool when he changed the lighting from blue to green. how do they do it
has to be the most annoying reporter on the Internet
This is crazy because we see it now but it won't be there that much longer
I can see Russia from my house
The two Los Angeles NFL teams get their own separate stadiums while the the two New York teams share one stadium. If the Jets play at the Giants, then the Giants have the home field advantage. If the Giants play at the Jets, then the Jets have the home field advantage.
New York only has one team
I've noticed that most US stadiums don't have a roof. I mean they spend like $500M building a new stadium, why not add the roofs? Is it done purposely or is it part of the culture? Or do the fans prefer it that way? Just asking, because I'm not American and that has always intrigued me.
I think it is sort of a tradition.
To make it like a bowl, I guess. BTW, Some football stadiums are totally indoor(dome)
There's no reason to put a roof football is an OUTDOOR sport so why would you have a roof. Now with that being said a few teams do have domes tho.
+SuperTrio I'm not referring to sliding roofs. I was pointing to roofs that cover the stands.
+zazourid oh, my bad
TWICE IS COMING
The Jets should just get their own stadium.
They would if NYC were to host the olympics games
rustinpeace1992 That movement already failed. Not happening.
The giants should
daboys1215 fuck football
daboys1215 You just want them to love out because you are a giants bandwagoner. Jets and giants agreed to share the same stadium.
Tebowing...Palin jokes...Mark Sanchez...this really is almost 10 years ago, isn't it?
BTS will be performing here on May 18th and 19th!
Yep thats why im here to see how high those seats and XD
Wow and just now I'm figuring out they play in the same stadium
i hate how new york has two teams just in case jets dont make it to the playoffs bandwagoners can jump to the giants and people wont even notice
Like lakers and clippers fans
It sucks.
Ricardo Mejia both them don’t make it
What's a dopey comment. Giant fans don't root for the Jets and visa versa, just like I don't cheer on the White Sox just because they share Chicago with my Cubs.
To me the stadium the Giants play their home games will always be Giant Stadium!!!
