Love is waking up together on a Sunday morning and sleeping in to cuddle a little longer. Love is sacrificing yourself for your partner, taking them to hospital, making them soup when they’re sick, waking up everyday and choosing them no matter how annoyed you are with each other. Love is trust, love is loyalty, love is vulnerability, love is open. Love is finding your soft place to fall when the world around you is too much to deal with. Love is finding your best friend you can partner through life with.

Seeing this reminds me of my conversation with my cousin in law 5 years ago. Him and my cousin were going through a very tough time in their relationship. He admitted to me that he had lost the thrill and spark he feels in their relationship and he said that most days when he look at my cousin he felt nothing. Like she's any other person on earth, it doesn't make his heart race anymore. Sometimes he dreaded going home and their just too tired of seeing each other. But he said those won't make him leave her, those reasons are not real reason to leave her. I was a little confused about it because one: I was 17 and have no experience in love and two: he sounded like he didn't love her anymore. But he explained to me that 'Love' isn't about the spark and thrill. That was just the fun in it, it's just the phase of knowing you're in love. He said love is when you're comfortable with someone, when your heart is at ease. When everything just felt like it's going wrong and tiring but you still want to stay. There are days when you feel like love is less and when love is more. There are days when you feel nothing but that doesn't mean you're not in love anymore.
It had been 5 years ago but his words are still engraved in my mind. He became my favorite cousin in law because of that haha... Him and my cousin are still together and going strong. They're expecting a baby girl in two months.

Now THIS is truly what love is. Not some relationship where everything is perfect and you are always happy. You really have to fight and work for love, even if it is extremely rough at times. Lots of people want love just to experience the good moments, but there will always be problems hidden underneath whether you like it or not. In most circumstance if you and your partner do fight for each other, everything will be alright.

If I ever fall in love, this will be the only way. I’m sick & tired of people on social media drooling over a false concept of love & quickly expressing how meaningful someone is to them when they never even get past the infatuation phase & talked for a very short time period. Some of them are obsessed with comforting their loneliness & desire a relationship to display for social media. I have never gotten past the infatuation phase because it is hard to embrace others’ insecurities and your own insecurities & your upbringing plays a role in how you react to a relationship, but I believe one day I will be ready. I’m usually the heartbreaker because I fail to reciprocate feelings to the same degree as the other person when talking to someone, but I hope to one day see past the flaws of my partner and overcome my unnecessary jealousy and trust issues & fall without a second’s hesitation. There are a couple of amazing women who could’ve easily qualified as a soulmate for me, but you cannot force love nor can you force fate. True love will find you in due time.

But...you do love them and they love you. They will stand by you as long as you stand by them and in some instances, they will be there when you don't want anyone.
