    Thanks @buffrange you always bring us good info. I have loaded the 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades and they cycle fine in my PSA Rock. They are 0.137" longer than the 30 grain and I use a bit more powder. A COL of 1.580 seems to work well, but I could stick a little more bullet in the case. I crimp with the Lee factory crimp die.

The handguns can take a few more 0.1s grains, my non-sbr PS90 starts threatening the magazine popping out beyond this. When first starting working that up I noticed some odd velocities and similar failures to cycle which I attributed to low case capacity / inconsistent ignition.

    I had a lot of trouble with AE FMJ failing to feed because of the bullet dropping into the case. Pretty much 2 or more per box. That was pre covid and you could get it for $18 a box. But I quit buying it anyway. I've put thousands of 195, 197, 198, and FR199 down range through a FiveSeven and PS90, and not a single failure. As far as a crimping, seems I read somewhere that some FN ammo the bullet is glued. It sure looks like it on the FR199. Have some L191 AP/tracer and it appears to be ever so slightly crimped. I've recently been trying the Fioche FMJ Range Dynamics ammo. So far no failures after about a thousand rounds.

Also the difference in 556 via 11" barrel vs 5.7 in close quarters is just unnecessary output....., both rounds check all cqb boxes; the 556 just has more recoil and less capacity. So, once again we have poor ammo for a great platform. Seems like no commercially available ammo is decent, (either unreliable, poor penetration...) Elite and Vanguard have accuracy issues? I just don't get it

    • @BuffRANGE

      I have not had issues with VG in FN or Rock. Ruger and M&P may be different. But yes T6 current design poor accuracy in pistols. He really needs to add the boatail back.

    "Oh! A new FN defensive round in 30gr!? I wonder if it cycles after the first shot unlike their 27gr ammo." **First shot** ...Nope... Since FN insists on underloading their consumer-grade ammo, they need to put a label on their boxes stating that their ammo will likely not cycle reliably and could end up getting the user seriously injured or k!lled if used for actual defense!

      The bullet is OK, but my use case and strive for information in 5.7 world is around SD/PP/HD/LE applications. This 30gr bullet would likely be fine in hunting applications when it's driven to proper velocity.

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE  9 месяцев назад +2

      They likely had them tested at 70F. The connect the dots seems to indicate FN makes these loads weak to appease to political pressure on NOT being able to penetrate soft armor from the pistol. look at how FR199 came in during covid then was never for sale anywhere. Look at how they slowed down the Speer Gold Dot...

      @@BuffRANGE would you working with companies to plug their products mid-video perhaps allow for income flow?
      See lots of other creators use this avenue and prefer those over letting the platform choose the "sponsors". I've even learned of some products this way that I'm interested in.

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE  9 месяцев назад

      @@ShastaBean Certainly. If a place like SPG, MidwayUSA, Brownells, PSA wanted to sponsor the channel, I'd add an ad-role in somewhere, and turn off monetization. The thing is YT can and still will add ads as long as I'm in the YPP program. I would need to find a sponsor to supplement that monthly income. I then get uneasy about then what the sponsor wants to be placed on video wise. What if I review a Brownell's product and Midway is the sponsor. I go back and forth about it a lot. I never intended this to be a money maker, but it is ever increasingly a money consumer.

    • @ShastaBean
      @ShastaBean 9 месяцев назад

      @@BuffRANGE all fair points. I'm sure it would invariably turn into a tricky situation, but might be able to juggle who gets the plug(s) based on what the content is, and perhaps avoid those conflicts. Probably easier said, than done and for sure you wouldn't want to get the label slapped on you as a sell-out or question your integrity.
      Maybe do adds for politicians? haha!!
      I'm all for a creator making profit off of their work and investment in time & materials.
      This platform hates us (if people only really knew just how much), so if there's a way to take them out of the money flow...while still getting companies we like the support and benefit them, then it could be a win/win.
      That'd probably be about the time YT starts giving you strikes. eek.

    Thats what happen when FNH try to make their stuff in the USA because of greed, why they dont load and design this at their European division and Winchester to load and sell the ammo they have bought Winchester, doesnt make no sense if you dont do your own stuff and dont care is Fiochi that will, but the ammo is just fine but Winchester would do a better job or their Japanese division

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not sure what you're trying to say? Winchester ammo under Olin is not owned by FN. The easiest way to sum this up is FN controls the 5.7's loads power to appease political pressure. They keep the ammo barely passable reliability wise and as long as it doesn't penetrate soft IIIA without restricted loads, they don't see the heat.

      @@HayMaker-tv2dm Of course that could all be a theory, but when I talked to Speer they seemed to hint at being able to go hotter, but were somehow "not allowed" to. Hornady and AAC aren't controlled by any of FN's 5.7 licensing, and you'll note their loads are the fastest large commercial offerings..
