    to summarize...
    bullet goes through soft level 3a and penetrates 12.5" in gel.
    bullet goes through bare gel and penetrates 15.5" in gel.
    So, Level 3a panel = 3" of gel.
    Meanwhile, claims are out there that skin = 4" of gel.
    Who knew skin was so good at reducing penetration in gel?...better than Level 3a armor?
    hmmm....

    Do gel test show hydrostatic shock? And how reliable is this round?

    • @BuffRANGE
      @BuffRANGE  5 месяцев назад +1

      The theory of “hydrostatic shock” is kind of a myth. These rounds are over 2000 fps and in theory the temporary cavity they make could impart extra permanent wounding. My sample size is only 100 rounds. I’ve never had a feeding issue with this copper solid design

    • @robarmstrong5404

      @@BuffRANGE The reason I asked is I watched an FBI video from last year where the ballistics expert said hydrostatic shock happens over 2100fps, and he was very confident in what he was saying. Having said that, I don't really see it gel, but I have seen very expansive holes in watermelons that don't make sense in terms of their width. Much wider than the cavitation seen in gel.

    • @jonahmelkowski4753
      @jonahmelkowski4753 7 месяцев назад +2

      @BuffRANGE Maybe be just a common defensive load like HST or Gold Dot. I know the rounds are completely different, but 5.7 chambered handguns are marketed as "defensive handguns," so I think it would be informative to compare the wound channels of Vampire Fang and other good 5.7 rounds to some tried and proven 9mm defensive loads.

      Case fill vs powder efficiency, I tend to run out of room. I think I've gotten 28gr stuff to 3700 fps from my 22". Maybe I try some H335. I have chucked SS198 at 4400+ in 22CM with a 18" barrel :O

    Vanguard is an excellent company to do business with, great product, service and some wonderful communications from them. I would only buy Vanguard or Elite Ammunition if you need the best defensive rounds. 7.0 grains is a lot of powder, anyone know what brand they’re using. 4.7 grains is considered maximum for True Blue powder. Thank you!

      Hi. We use a variety of powders overall but generally they are OEM from the powder manufacturers like St. Marks. Our primary powder is OEM and does not have a direct retail shelf equal. We do use some shelf powders like power pistol in some loads.
