I drove through a wealthy neighborhood today and saw a Genesis vehicle in the driveways of two mansions. Made me feel rich because I drive the electrified G80. Just need the mansion now. LOL! Loving my car! So fun to drive and very luxurious.
EVs have terrible depreciation value right now, so keep an eye on that if you wanna trade it in, in a few years. All that being said, I like what HMG does with their Genesis lineup.

In my view, the 2025 Genesis GV80 Prestige stands out significantly from its rivals. I also believe that Genesis doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. Year after year, they continue to produce and innovate, consistently raising the bar in the automotive industry. Notably, the GV80 competes with the likes of the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, and Volvo XC90, among others.
The problem with the aesthetics of this car is that as soon as you put the front tag on, it ruins the whole front end of the car because the front tag has to be placed in the middle mid to low section of the grille. If it could be placed completely below the grille, it would work, but that's where the sensor resides. I wish we didn't have to deal with front tags period.
Thank you so much for this review!! We have the 2022 GV80 in matte white. Is the satin actually "satin" or matte? Does it need to be taken care of like the matte that we have now? I had seen they've made upgrades/updates to the 2025, so it peeked my interest. Right now, we have the captain seats in the back and it's really not practical, so we're looking for the bench seating. I love the storr green as shown in your video with the vanilla/green interior. I agree that I'm not a fan of the exhaust being hidden under the bumper. I think exhaust pipes really add to the look of a vehicle like this. We've looked at Mercedes, Range Rover, and Porsche, but we keep coming back to the Genesis.
this car brand is still new in the uk...my only worry is depreciation for the first and second users because many people are unfamiliar with this brand.
As a regular person, this is my "dream" SUV when it's time to upgrade for real. I'm not dropping 90+ on a car but this gives very similar vibes and finishes for a more affordable price
As someone who is colorblind and sensitive to brightness I wish the display was darker. Preferably a dark screen with white numerals like in night mode. It’s a deal breaker because of that screen.

Not to mention every single Hyundai, Kia and Genesis now have exactly the same screen setup - they all look like assembly line cheap-outs. They gave up design for economical, interchangeable displays. There is no cowl to protect the screen from sunlight reflections and it is too bright. Needs a Windows-like "dark mode".
Prettier than the X5 for sure, and you could argue more luxurious. The BMW will drive and perform better easily. It's actually a competition, which is sorta a win for Genesis to be worthy of being compared. Just get the dealer situation fixed and keep the good looking products coming. Watch the pricing though, you don't want to wind up stagnant like Lincoln in sales volume.

The steering wheel gets the most improved award. Demerit for the lower rear you pointed out. Otherwise extremely nice. Take the roundel off the BMW and give it to Genesis for the win.

Genesis has some great reliability as well. I'm actually eyeballing a couple year old Gv70 sedan right now but we'll see. I like what Hyundai/Genesis is doing with their new interiors and tech.
I never imagined my mid life crisis would present itself as an SUV. Beautiful. The only fault I have is the miles per gallon. I drive a few year old Honda CRV and regularly record 24mpg. I have no kids and recycle everything I can, so, I haven’t too many guilty moments about driving a Prestige. Also, most of my family has always insisted on green cars. Green the color, some were older Cadillac and Buick’s, so for decades not “green”

Lot to like here, but according to Consumer Reports the X5 is more reliable than a Lexus and real world bears that out(curiously, the Genesis is actually the one with the electrical problems.) Plus it is just really nice. Genesis on the other hand just cannot get their reliability pinned down. If they could this is a striking SUV and there might be some room for discussion, but since they cannot, there is just no chance for any kind of reasonable comparison. BMW is kicking everyone in the balls right now, they are hard to beat with all their models.
Are you kidding? Everyone knows that you only lease BMWs and Audis because they go to shit after 3-4 years. And the maintenance and repair costs are through the roof.

As these Genesis get more expensive - and are no longer cheaper than their BMW/Mercedes counterparts - I frankly have a difficult time imagining the Genesis being of comparable legitimate engineering or quality to the Germans. What I can do, though, as Genesis also continue to get more and more glitzy - is think about this as almost like a bargain Spyker. Over-the-top detailing, something unique, a choice of emotion and eccentricity. I can dig it.
Let's be honest, the design of the new BMW (gas or ev) vehicles is simply awful. As far as I am concern, the choice is going to be between the new Audi Q5 or the Genesis gv80.

Genesis is cheaper. Their price is pretty much all inclusive of the options that you would have to purchase separately. After the options purchase that equals what Genesis offers, the end price for BMW Mercedes is about ten grand higher
