Yeah, they clipped out a couple of things for the U.S. market. That is just pure cost savings. But this GV80 coupe still is competitive on all fronts besides fuel economy. The Europeans are faster too. Carplay is supposed to be "future over air" update.
@@jeffs6090 X3M Comp I just bought is indeed missing ventilated rear seats and has a regular rear view mirror but has over 500hp and will shame this in the handling dept. I guess if you want a mirror and a cool butt in the rear, get this. Oh and it was cheaper than this after negotiation.
Kudos to Genesis, they are really making a name for themselves and surely will force competitor brands to not slack off. I like the consistency in design especially with something as simple as putting dark chrome in all places it's present (unlike some brands which would put dark chrome on the grill but shiny chrome on the windows, etc.)
The exhaust sounds so anemic. No grunt or rumble to it. For a car that has over 400Hp , the 0-60 time is still only close to 5secs. The culprit is really the weight of the vehicle. When you described the drive system, you mentioned it’s an AWD system , and then you said its rear-wheel drive based… I assume you meant its rear wheel drive biased. For a price of USD90K, I think it would a hard sell for me, I would rather put in the extra 5-10K and the German counterpart.
I am sure they will introduce a more powerful engine with the GV80 Coupe Magma. Yes, that's a mouthful, but this car is not fully representative of Genesis' capabilities!
Great Presentation as always but if I may the ergo seat (massage) is only available for the driver seat not the passenger. Currently the only Genesis that offers the passenger massage seat is G90
According to the Alex on Autos channel, this vehicle, although starting prices are higher than the BMW and Mercedes variants, this has way more content, and when the others are so equipped will cost much more. Also, he said that most buyers in this segment will be lease buyers and this GV80 Coupe will lease for less than the other offerings, which should make this a compelling option to consider. If this $87K version can be leased for ..say $5K down and $600/mo .. I will be getting one very soon!
@@Stew5166 with BMW you just need your phone, no fob. Walk up to the car it unlocks when you get close. Jump in and start it up. Also hands free lane keep. Best thing ever on long trips. If Genesis had those two things and 200 more HP I’d be sold!

I have this gut feeling that genesis is saving up big for the magma release of these vehicles …. ( where the carbon fiber , exhaust note and possibly power … will be given some steroids ) and we will see a true marriage of luxury and performance coming from this brand
I actually like how Genesis is marketing the GV80 Coupe as the legitimately sportier version of the regular GV80 SUV. The regular GV80 is meant to be more luxurious/smoother due to all the shiny trim pieces whereas the GV80 Coupe can distinguish itself as a different vehicle because it's actually made with some performance in mind since you can get it with the electric supercharger for a total of 409 horsepower, unlike the regular GV80 where it's not an option. There are also other performance features such as a Sport+ drive mode, sportier suspension, and better brakes, not to mention there's the GV80 Magma Coupe that's on the horizon which will hopefully have more performance potential. The X6 and GLE Coupe only exist because they visually look sportier than their non-coupe counterparts, the X5 and GLE SUV, but other than looking different, they're the exact same vehicles. There's nothing else that distinguishes the X6 and GLE Coupe that makes it more performance-oriented than the X5 and normal GLE.
Thoughtfully designed. Joe, I know Minnesota didn't build those roads for you to have fun on. So different from the German cars but definitely in the ball game.
I see a bunch of GV80 Coupe reviews dropped over the past two days. But Joe was the first and in my opinion the most detailed and factual review. I have one of these on order, same color in and out. But apparently I can get the Bering Blue with the Vanilla and Smoky Green interior instead. It is going to be a hard decision.
@@dansmith3592 perhaps I was wrong but Their website only shows 2 interior choices with Bering blue Mono black with grey piping Ultramarine blue with orange piping. This is in the usa.
The only issue I have with this SUV is that I wish the infotainment system was restructured with the screen is not on top of the dashboard. It’s integrated below in the screen was like 12 to 14 inches basically like Lexus other than that great SUV it’s like a budget friendly Bentley Bentayga

90k for a Genesis, I just can’t get there esp since there are really no Genesis service depts - 90k to go to a Hyundai dealer for service? I’d look at a one year old X5 M50i for that price.
Don't know where you stay, but all the Genesis dealers have been consolidated into area "GENESIS"ONLY, specific dealerships here in Arkansas. All the old Hyundai dealers are no longer allowed to sell Genesis. I have a G80 sedan, and went to the new dealership for maintenance and the attention and service of the personnel was most impressive along with the most premium accommodations. 💯

I just got sold on a 2024 sport prestige g80 for a killer deal, almost identical features (sans usb-c ports 😔) but im over the moon trading up from a 2021 sonata n-line. Hyundai/genesis is killing it with their platforms, a tech-lover's dream car!
I’m not a big fan of the screens. Not because they are screens but feel like they could have made them curved or extended the dash over the screen to make it flow better. Otherwise looks great.
I like Genesis design, but I am zonking all of the gloss black capacitive controls in the center stack. That is finger print city and capacitive buttons are not as easy to use while driving as standard buttons.

I mean it’s a good looking vehicle and considering how wacky some of the styling from BMW has been this could be a good option. That said I just don’t think you can plunge into the market with these prices. I don’t think we’ve ever seen any Asian Car Marker with such an extensive line up with so many expensive vehicles. Genesis may one day compete on the level of the Germans but it seems it would have been wiser to start as a value option to the Germans rather than putting pricing at or exceeding the Germans.

Honestly, the German competitors at that price point 0-60 are sub 3.5. Genesis did a good job but not good enough for that price point.

It only has soft-closing doors. If you want the feature that you are mentioning, you will need to opt for the Genesis G90.

The ultramarine blue is not exclusive to the GV80 coupe. I had it in my 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige. The orange contrast stitching is new, however.
