    It's always better to hang projector first. So you know how the image will turnout also everything fits prefect

  • @daviddaul
    @daviddaul 6 лет назад +4

    I noticed that you didn't fold over the screen material. Is it just a personal preference whether to fold the material over the back of the frame versus just getting it tight and stapling to the front of the frame? Thanks!!

    and your projects turn out great!
    I might try this one

      What? He measured once and got it wrong, he says he forgot to account for the felt. His mistake is our gain though. I couldn't stand looking at those lil grey bars to the side every time I watched something, I'd need to make a new screen, hopefully re-use the material? The compulsion to get the aspect ratio right and the screen wrinkle free would be too strong.

  • @JohanKesti
    @JohanKesti 5 лет назад

    Nice one. Have a similar screen installed, and there's one drawback. If you do staple the canvas, you are bound to have some wrinkles on the screen, no matter how diligently you do the job. Also, it seems the indoor moisture does affect it somehow: the situation is different during winter than in summer. If I were to build a new screen, I'd look into turnbuckle system, as they allow to adjust the canvas tightness afterwards with ease.

    Hopefully you will be able to answer this question. I have built a DIY 130” 2.35:1 screen. Watching your video I need to ask you, with my screen being 10’ wide does my French cleat need to be a certain width? I currently have a 36” wide cleat. I am having a problem lining up the picture in the screen. The PJ is level as is the two half’s of the French cleat. The screen when hung just will not square up. I am hoping that a wider cleat will keep the screen squared and allow the PJ to align.

    Looks great! What's the purpose of the felt tape?

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop 7 лет назад +2

      It hides the staples and also absorbs any overflow on the image towards the edge of the screen if your aspect ratio isn't perfect. Just gives it a cleaner, more finished look.

    Great work but my OSD would not allow those speakers to be taller than the bottom of my screen. if that screen was slightly higher they would fit under nicely but I'm guessing you know this and there was some reason why you could not do this.

    The link to those metal corner braces isn't the same product as what you used in the video at 2:15. I've searched online and can't seem to find anything exactly like those... Seems like they'd provide superior support to the alternatives I've seen since they attach on both the inside and back surfaces. Anybody know where to find something similar?

      This material is fairly thick, you might want to go with a thinner material for that. Check the Carl's Place site to see what options they have.

    just use a white roller blind. 10 bucks, and can even backlight project with it. ive used a blind for years now, ive had screens, i really dont see a diff if im honest, slight brightness but i run my projector at half bright and dim the room anyway.. such a poor job too. wrinkles?!?!?!? no... headaches garanteed!

  • @MitchOfCanada

    Pro Tip, Make your screen for 2.39:1 Ratio. most movies are this way.
    if 16:9 movies have curtains on the side you pull in.
    Back bars or grey bars will drive you mental.
