    Pause at 7:42 - 7:44. You can clearly see that the right side looks much better.

    Interesting. Black paint for rooms with ambient light and gray one for rooms with no light. I used an home made gray painted screen once in my appartment, always used it in the dark and i was pleased with the effect i had, my old projector had very poor contrast and was leaking quite a lot on a black image, that was reducing the black point considerably.

    I went to homedepot today when it was open and ordered metallic paint and it works really great.

    If your going to have a color projector screen you have to have a Dedicated light control Room plain and simple

    what about the difference in a dark room ??? il looking for a grey screen in a dark room and im affraid to getting to low contrast with a black scren....

    Any serious home theater enthusiast will have a dedicated room with full light control though, for me that's how I would compare, in the dark. My NX5 does great with contrast and I'm using pure gray.

      keep in mind you said it yourself you said light control we don't use light controlled environments over here and just to add we do not have the need for high power projectors to make up for the lumens lost due to the well lit environment. Let me know when your pure grey screen can pass our Challenge and then get back with me demonstration ruclips.net/video/2zWaAE6NNvY/видео.html
      Btw grey screen cannot produce pure black contrast levels you don't need an expensive camera to see that ruclips.net/video/9eIRX7vOzQY/видео.html

    With a darkened room I preferred the gray screen on the right. I thought the star field looked more 3D like. When you turned on the lights the black screen looked better. So I guess it depends on ones particular viewing situation.

    Here's a question, at the college I attended before Covid was a thing, they use Epson projectors 3 LCD technology. In one of the classrooms we had a 200 inch screen approximately 16 feet wide and the image had decent contrast. In another classroom they had the same projector with an 80 inch 4:3 screen and the contrast was cruddy. If you project on a 25 foot screen at the proper distance would a white screen give proper contrast?

    due you have the floodlight pointing up it is not on the screen.

    What! The grey is two times better with low light conditions regardless of color! Of course the black screen going to perform better if your projecting a space scenery ! Common sense

      They typically have very little ambient light, and look great the way they are. The explanation in this video about contrast is errant.

    My white screen with the lights on looks better then both of yours? Why is that?
    I constantly see people like you saying that a white screen simply does not supply black at all leg alone badly but every single person thats ever seen my projector brings up how dark the blacks are.

    • @Ryan-de9ox
      @Ryan-de9ox Год назад

      That's actually impossible that any shade of white would display darker blacks than anything even a minuscule amount of darker shade in it. Projectors don't display black. Yours may look better overall and I don't like the black either especially with all the lights off (too dark), but black background will always display deeper blacks and contrast better.

    • @brettknibbs9351
      @brettknibbs9351 Год назад

      @@Ryan-de9ox probably should have worded my statement better to be honest, what i was saying is what i see on my white screen appears darker/clearer then his dark screen but it is obviosley not true black on a white screen.
