just a tip for rebar stirrups, especially in earthquake areas like philippines, the stirrups around the columns all must have 135 degree bends on both ends. in other words- you cant just wrap them loosely around the column rebar in the shape of a square or rectangle, the ends must bend inwards after wrapping around the upright rebars, not just lay along side the column. the ends need to be in the CENTER of the column rebars, so they are anchored in the center of the column concrete, if not they will simply open if the columns sway and crack allowing catastrophic failure of the support columns.
Tim I see you blocking off that corner do you have got to tie your corners together with rebar all one pour the same with the corners of the house wrap, rebar 5 feet down one wall, bend at 90° and lay it on top of the hollow blocks tying two walls together with a 10 foot stick
It's the phillipines rough as guts. Abit off bamboo n a rock will do. Also it's good to see u never got scammed. Biggest scamming country in the 3rd world. N yes builders are the worst . Give them cash n they spend it on cok fight n shaboo
I understand pouring wet concrete flows better, but the wetter you mix it the weaker it is! And the mix I like is 123. Definitely not criticizing. You’re doing a great job.
Wow, first time I have ever seen 12 workers show up at a job site before, amazing! Tht being said I am not certain they all know what they are doing. Although I am sure they know what they are doing for the things they are doing. Meaning, Western building standards and methods are so different than the Philippines. We would have better footers and use FORMS to to ensure the footers are laid properly. The foundation and footers are critical as the entire house layout and design all depend on those footers being laid out properly. A critical mistake at the beginning just multiplies as you build and can destroy everything. But, from what I have seen and been told it alwasy looks a bit chaotic in the Philippines but somehow they get it done and it all turns out OK. Still, scratching my head on some basic building techniques that seem to be missing. I guess these men need work and are learning as they go in some cases. I am guessing only 1 or 2 of the men know what they are doing and the other 10 or so are labor and just follow orders as best they can. I know these men are doing the best they can with the knowledge, supplies and techniques they have. Its interesting to see the type of rebar layout they are useing to reinforce the walls for hurricanes/cyclones/tornados/storms. Hopefully they are all enjoying the work, learning some new skills and will appreciate they are building something with their own hands that will contribute to the community and provide a home for a very nice family. Cant wait to see every stage going forward. Its a daunting task to do this in the Philippines so I applaud you for taking it on, not something I would necessarily choose to do.
Pretty amazing to see their building process as compared to western countries. But they get it done 🎉 Beautiful dog, what’s that around his neck? Take care, from this Canadian ⛄️
I been living here in the Philippines for six years and it's not easy to find good workers to build you a good quality home. You really need to keep an eye on them or you will get a really shitty home that won't stand a small earthquake.
like most of the build you are making same mistake. you build so weak columns. cement gravel sand is not too expensive there make your colums at least 12x12 inches its a earthquake country
She will, have a nice place wen it's all done. Apitty it doesn't have a nice view. But I suppose sum li,e the country views. I bet it's hard to watch them pouring to concrete n the helf ass workmanship. But u get wat u paid for . I suplose
