They really should've ran with this as a story line. They should've shown not only how it affects Otis but also how it affects his girlfriend Lily and his fellow firefighters and his family members. While I love this show it really just seems like a romantic drama about firefighters.
I know 😭💔. But the woman didn't listen to him, if she did, she wouldn't have died. But Otis, he followed orders, it just ended up being a tragic accident.
@@lilfizzypoplollipopzvonecek14 and in a split second he decided to risk his life to save at least 5 fellow firefighters cuz he knew he wouldn't be able to get through the door before that thing blew up. So he jumped to get the door shut so that least his fellow firefighters would be safe
Great scene. Also, am I the only one wondering where that knock came from where there are only curtains, no door? (unless there's a wall off to the side)
Finally this was a storyline, that would be interesting to continue, and show us something about firefighters and PTSD. What happened? Aganin, nothing, just Severide and Kidd, Casey and Brett, romance, romance and again romance. For f*ck sakes, it's a show about firefighters, so why they started to do a romantic show happneing, just by chance, in the firehouse? This show has potential to be so much more...
Because PTSD is not something cured in two episodes. Sometimes never. (My 26yr Army veteran brother is a case. He avoids people) I was a military firefighter for 6 years. Like a lot of guys the buried alive fear was my nightmare. I went home on leave and woke the house screaming soaked in sweat! Dad made a cup of tea and we had a chat. He was ex RN. He got it and I eventually slept. Even all these years later I sometimes get the dream when stressed. I fought fires, rescued people and I saw plenty of claret. You HAVE to learn to cope or you go under. Training goes part of the way but by no means all! Regular Joe sees maybe one or two nasty things in his life. Firefighter can see two a shift. Two a week isn't unusual. It's getting better about getting help but if you want a long career or promotion...you don't go there! I suspect the same is true of Police and paramedics.
It all depends on the work ethic towards mental health. I'm a teacher and thankfully in a very supportive environment now. I was diagnoised with PTSD after being trapped in a house with an employer whose sexually abused me for about 11 months to a year. I went to become a teacher in a school, I was open and honest about my condition. I got straight off I was a risk to the children and would need a risk assessment to even work with them. They didn't accomodate to PTSD at all and my needs at the time. To them, i didn't need any adapations to help continue with my job, just to be told i was a risk. I left that school after 3-4 months and thankfully am in a better place but the work place can be so harsh to the worker if they don't understand or even want to understand about mental health.
I think it’s sick that they making Brett and Casey like each other considering he was married to Dawson who was friends with Brett and kidd is erkky asf she forced severide to like her but she a good firefighter but her and him together ion like those are the things that piss me off in this show
I wish this stigma around support for PTSD among fire fighters & policeman would just STOP! 😣 They say it’s part of the job, seeing these horrific things yet they won’t give the support necessary when these things DO happen to them?! I know having a PTSD episode could potentially prevent you from doing a job like this at full capacity but as I said before - get the help you need so you have a better chance of getting BACK to that job you wish to continue with! Getting help is NOT weakness - it’s BRAVERY!

@@nonah32 sadly, that's the reality of the situation.
