  • Recently an aquarium air pump manufacturer reached out to me to to ask if I would be interested in testing their air pump, which they claim to be the quietest on the market.

Thank you for sharing. I have very sensitive ears and the pump I have I have to turn off at night just so I could sleep, so I just bought one.

All of your vids are so helpful.... air pump review was great, would love to see more air pump/filter reviews in future, esp. as it pertains to quietness.... thx so much for your dedication...

I often wonder what the noise pollution for fish inside the tank is. Especially seeing vids with loud music, TV, barking dogs, etc. I wonder if the fact that it is attached to the tank diffuses noise into the water?
It does save counter space. Nice product review. Thanks.

Mounting it say, onto the top back of the tank or the same stand the tank is on no doubt transfers the vibrations which is strong "noise" to the fish. There was an experiment done (years and years ago, don't ask me to find it) where they played loud music around the fish and it definitely affected them, to the point that some music affected them worse than others. Rap was by far the worst for them. lol

HAL 9000 piezoelectric is pretty silent. I’m betting it’s not going to do much. It’s basically a coin that vibrates.

Very good n helpful. You won't really need a check valve if you place the airpump above the water level, but that's up to the owners.

I just started using the Danner Aqua-Supreme pumps in my 180g to power airstones - adjustable output with a large dial, and plenty of flow at 24" depth. Cheap too! Only been running for a few months, so we'll see about longevity.
Maybe do a comparison between air pumps in the same conditions - your favorite, the most popular, and then this product and whatever else you want to try. You can use them all as benchmarks for future videos. (and to really give people an idea on the power of central air units, use your room unit in the test. Brand A did 4 airstones at 16", Brand B did 5, Brand C did 4 and my central unit did 96) You could also compare them at different depths.)

You don't need a lot of power to run a sponge filter. The slower the flow the more anaerobic bacteria will grow, which eats nitrates.

Hey Zenzo, great job with the pump and video. I will say that based on what I see and hear, I’m not very impressed with it. I probably would never purchase an air pump that won’t run a sponge filter, unless they manufacture larger pumps. So far,Eheim or Fusion are my go to pumps. Thanks very much for sharing

  • @AlexRoyster

Thanks for the video! That vibration part is nice, I feel like the standard pumps vibration reverberating against whatever it sits on creates the majority of the noise. Agree on the office setup, might also be good on my little plant growout tub to just add some circulation without a lot of noise. You should post a video about what happens when you spill water on it! Been really enjoying your content tons of great info in a very easy to understand format.

I own 2 of these, and I run sponge filters with mine. I have the smallest model. I am running a compartment sponge filter in a 10 g tank, and I also have one running a dual head sponge filter in a 55g tank. Lots of airflow. What I did notice was that the air stone provided didn’t allow much airflow. Also using their flexible airline tubing kinks rather easily. So using a stiffer tubing works better.
These are the quietest pumps I have owned for sure.
The cord is an issue. It is very short. So that is definitely a negative aspect.

Yeah need a review with sponge-filters and check valves. I’m going to do one. Short run on the Betta Tank. But it’s my nightstand tank. This pump saved my life. Lol. It’s not gonna run large sponge filters and check valves and regulators may reduce the flow. But if you shorten the run or you don’t need the adjustable flow. Yeah you can easily get this little thing to do some workZ

Appreciate your demo. I have to say, as input for you, I bought an Aquatop AP30, (a very small single tank type airpump) a couple months back for my grandson's 30 gal tank. The price you quoted for your demo makes it WAAAAYY too expensive! I paid under $9 for this little Aquatop. It's even quieter than your demo AND puts out way more air on an airstone. I would give it a thumbs down. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • @ksull72487

It’s a solid design. Nothing new in technology either. Humidifiers and fog equipment have used it. Piezoelectric. But yes it’s way less air flow. Bettas and Shrimp tanks. Or a tank that needs some bubbling for some decor. Small sponge filters it will run. Check valves and regulators it’s hit or miss. Honestly with most tanks you will not need a regulator. Installing one will just reduce the flow further.
In my decked out one gallon Betta. Trust me. It’s a small glass tank but I do nano reefs and stuff as well. With a small sponge filter and short airline it works well and is silent. Compared to my Aquatops. Yes less air flow. But it’s practical for the Betta. I had an 8 watt heater in their as well as a 5 watt. The 8 watt I never use. The 8 watt was capable of bringing the Betta to 80 degrees. The 5 watt maybe 75. But here in the Midwest with an always on heater I have to allow for temp fluctuations in the house to prevent overheating. So the 5 watt is my go to. So depending on what your purpose is. It’s a great pump.

Quick tip when making these kind of videos..
Put the camera close. Turn it on... let it run.. say ok guys not listen... and then proceed to turn it on and off every 2 seconds so you can hear the difference with it on and off..
But thanks anyway. I bought one from China for really really cheap. I'm using it for my dyi gravel cleaner, nice and mobil.

Not a good pump really then tbh I wouldn't get that. Not water proof and sits on the side of the tank what a joke. Most of the time you will hear a filter going or surface movement so barely notice them anyway
