I use a little heat from a hairdryer or heat gun to soften the grip. Windex will also work as a non-organic lubricant.

Heat was what I was thinking. Can I ask what's the benefit of non organic lubricant

@@graemepaterson4458 Organics, such as petroleum based oils, do not evaporate. Windex is water based and will evaporate away easily. No need to do a meticulous cleaning of the inside of the grips for re-install.

Hairspray also works as a dissolver of the glue.
