    Do you recommend using the final matt clearcoat as the finish?

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  4 месяца назад

      Hello DeepFake! It depends on your needs or preferences. You can use matte varnish if the piece needs to be manipulated or handled frequently. It is not necessary if you only use it as an exhibition piece since it will not suffer the same wear. Therefore, the decision is yours to make :)

    Hi, can this product be applied with a brush instead of an airbrush? And with what kind of thinner product can this be thinned? Thank you.

    • @bernarrcoletta7419
      @bernarrcoletta7419 3 года назад

      It’s already pre-thinned to use in an airbrush, so it should be fine to put on with a regular brush. Just be careful to apply a thin layer. Any acrylic paint thinner should work, even water.

    Sharing something which I have learned. After priming cover the area with 73.821 Rust Texture, which will give you a nice rusty but all-so-textured base. then sponge on 71.080 Rust 71.129 Light Rust & 71.130 Orange Rust randomly. This will give you a beautiful & realistic-looking affected to use as the base for the chipping medium.

    I have a problem with chipping medium. It is very thick and i can't airbrush it((. It spits by big pieces and makes big "grid" on the model. And on top of that paint after 1 hour of drying became wery strong and i cand remove it. Can i thin chipping medium by water? Thanks!

    Es esta técnica equivalente a usar mask fluid con una esponja? Tiene esta técnica alguna ventaja?

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  Год назад

      Hola Agustín, sí es lo mismo :) solo que la máscara liquida la puedes retirar con un palillo o con blu tac despegándola y el Chipping Medium se retira con un pincel mojado o cepillo :) Dependiendo del producto que tengas, te aseguras de tener un buen desconchado, donde el chipping medium lo hace de manera más aleatoria y más realista :)

    Hi, if I use for example a Tamiya for last coat I can use tamiyas thinner and grab same results? IF I use vallejos primer, medium chipping and tamiya or anotherthinner paint for last?

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  Год назад

      Hello Adriano! We recommend using only one company paint simultaneously (this avoids always incompatibility problems - and Tamiya alcohol-based thinner can affect our Vallejo paints and make a gooey mess). With our water-based airbruhs thinner you won't have these issues :)

    Hi, probably this isn't the best place to ask but I'd appreciate any assistance wherever it may come from. By using the techniques described here, the water to re-activate the medium left some stains on the surface. I used silver base, chipping medium and then black. Now the black top color looks stained and "wet" where the water touched. Is this something that will be fixed after a gloss varnish or is my work ruined? Thanks so much!

      José Brito indeed with each step of treatment (gloss varnish, oils, matt varnish) the problem dissolved more and more. But until it dissolved completely I was quite worried. Thanks a lot for your help.

      Hello Helerson, if you use our Model Air paints you can use them straight from the bottle. In case you want to use other ranges, let us know so we can help you. In case you want to thin our paints you can use water or our Airbrush Thinner. And last but not least, the compressor air pressure is recommended at 15 - 20 PSI or 0.5 to 1 kg.

    How would one apply this with a brush? Can you do a tutorial? I've had problems applying it this way and I don't own an airbrush.

      @vallejocolors  7 лет назад

      Hi,
      Your request has been send it to our specialist. We'll reply you as soon as we have something useful for you or some advices. But, the way of using this product would be the same as using airbrush.
      Can you give us more datails, I mean what kind of problems do you have?

    • @AnExtrovertPaints
      @AnExtrovertPaints 7 лет назад

      José Brito I tried this. However the medium evaporated from some spots and clumped up in others. I did not add anything to the mixture and I applied it as you stated. But it isn't working as it should. So I'm getting clumps of this stuff in some areas and where it evaporates from, I get nothing.

    • @AnExtrovertPaints
      @AnExtrovertPaints 7 лет назад +1

      Look, right now, this is not helping. It's only frustrating me.
      I just told you in the previous comment that I did exactly--to the very letter--what you are telling me to do.
      (1) washed the model (I always do this) and let it dry. There was no residue. It was brand new.
      (2) Primed it.
      (3) Applied your chipping medium product on the primed surface.
      (4) Chipping medium refused to apply well, clumped up, was gloopy, was gummy. I could not get the product to a consistency where it applied "thinly". THAT's the issue. The chipping medium was applying in clumps and gloops, not thinly at all.
      Now, I tried to let that dry and then sprayed primer thinly over it. But it refused to work and left the primer coat clumpy and gloopy in the areas where the chipping medium clumped and glooped. Understand? It nearly ruined a $96 model. I was not happy.
      I "saved" it with some paintwork, but only after repriming, repainting, and trying to 'hide' the areas on the model that refused to chip away with water (most of the surface, mind you).
      So, either (a) you're not explaining a crucial step to me correctly, (b) it's user error somewhere and I'm making a mistake, but you're not addressing that issue, or (c) the product is defective. If it is on me, OK, then show me where I'm making the error so that I can correct it. But from what you're saying above, I did exactly what you said to do and it didn't work. So... what can I do going forward to stop this from happening?
