Yes you can transfer it using a usb drive before you upgrade if your laptop doesn’t have an extra nvme slot but you will need to install windows 10/11 again.

Drives don't need to be partitioned. That's an old way to do things. Best to have one large drive.

Limit? No it will hold as much GB as the SSD provides. The only real limit is whether or not your laptop can handle a Gen 4 SSD
