A good tip I received from a kettelbell instructor and helped with the matter of the bell crushing into my forearm immediately was "punching" into the kettlebell handle actively while it comes to the upper position while cleaning it. This way your hand and the kettlebell reach the highest point at almost the same speed and the catching goes very smooth. Worked from the first repetition with most people in the course.
That’s a good cue, even more so with the KB snatch. But the key to avoiding the forearm bang is to keep the bell moving vertically, Close to the body, aka “taming the arc”. Punch with an arc an you’ll still get banged.
I watched so many videos about how to use a kettlebell and this one is the best of them. Really one the best tutorial about basic kettlebell movements.👌
I have been doing research on kettlebell training and your videos have convinced me to give it a try. Your detailed explanations are fantastic. Thank you!
I have watched numerous videos on KB snatches. None, I mean none, of them cleared out questions like you did. I could just do snatches without banging the KB against my forearm for the first time. Incredible, Marcus
Thank you for explaining the technique so meticulously. I'm having tough time landing the kettlebell and have left my forearms sore. I'm gonna work on the technique. Thank you.
Found your channel after Coop featured your incredible home gym on GGR, and I have to say I'm glad he did. This is literally the kettlebell fundamentals goldmine that I've been looking for for a while now. Thanks so much for the patient and methodical breakdown for us that are new to this stuff. Cheers mate!!!🍻
Great instructional video. I didn't begin to discover & implement kettlebells until age 50 (8 years ago) and NO regrets... they have transformed my fitness & flexibility
I am living in Taiwan and we just went into a 'lockdown' for 20 days~ I am sure it will be extended to the end of the semester. We can go buy stuff etc, but I am now teaching from home. I will be working on your advice throughout the day. Thank you.
I'm glad this was suggested by YT, I have a bad knee and it hurts when I try to do the swing. Now I'll do the front and back movement rather than up and down that hurts my knee. Thank you
Thank you for breaking down these fundamental movements. I have some corrective practice ahead. Presently nursing an inflamed shoulder and greatly appreciate your time in pointing out the finer points of these movements.
super great video, i love turkish get ups and kb swings but had actually given up on a getting down the kb clean do to bruising. after a few minutes of the section on racking i grabbed my bell and pulled it off no problem. thank you very much for making this video available.
I just got a pair of kettlebells and even though I’ve tried them before at the studio, I just realized I’ve got to practice and master this fundamentals tips. Thanks
Thanks, this is good! I work with an awesome trainer (now virtually) a couple of times a week and I practice on my own. Your explanation of the mechanics and moves both confirms and enhances what I am learning in training. Sometimes it helps to hear things in different words! Then repetition, practice and time helps the form sink in with me. You articulate the relationship between the hip hinge and creating weightlessness motion wonderfully.
This video was so informative. I’m starting to do more kettle bell and calisthenics exercises and I now know I’ve been doing a lot of these movements wrong and just been muscling through them
Very well explained. I used to bash my arms sometimes. But now with competition bells and a good hinge, the weightless point comes into effect. No more bashing it flows
Thx for the wisdom Marcus. Logical foundational sequence. During the 1st skill (hinge) demo one thing I noticed in the past for myself is needing to bring awareness to my neck/spine alignment through the hinge. I think it's really easy to have a bit of a rocking neck or one that doesn’t stay aligned to the spine through the movement. Your demo showed that component really cleanly just wanted to share I found focusing on it necessary as it would deviate from alignment initially. < ☕️ 3
This is a great video and great tips for kettlebell training. Thank you so much. I really enjoy kettlebell exercises more than other workout moves. Please, do workout videos using kettlebells. I will forever tune in!! Thank you! ❤
I came in weight in at 61 kg after having multiple surgeries . My goal here are to work with an elite athlete as we progress ultimately to gain more muscle, emphasizing on kettle bell movement. Clear cut instructions with more continuity including each motion related to body.
@@marcusfilly ...but now I cannot walk anymore because I really liked doing the swing for the first time. A strong muscle soreness in the harmstrings. Is that showing I did it wrong or is it a good sign?
😱omg!!!! Thank RUclips for recommending ur channel 🙏. Thank you Marcus 🙏 you really know your craft 💪 keep them coming and now I feel more confident after watching ur videos.👌👍
Beautiful thank you very much a well demonstrated moves I think I learned more today just one tip: don’t demonstrate faults just the exercise the way you did and that’s it
Excellent breakdown! Super helpful with focusing on the areas I need to fine tune. Had an 3rd degree shoulder separation and these exercises have gotten me stronger than before. Keep the videos coming!
Probably the best kettlebell beginner video on RUclips. Thanks Marcus.
Glad you liked it!

This makes a lot of sense. You’re essentially not letting the weight of the bell leave on your arm. You’re instead meeting it.
