Usually it's just a case of resoldering the main 34-way Tyco connector at the front of the instrument cluster's circuit board. The whole assembly clips together, so it's a bit fiddly. The gauge needles are removed as follows: Twist and pull large dials anticlockwise, small gauge dials are pulled and twisted in a clockwise direction to remove without damaging. The front fascia is then removed in order to gain access to the 34-way Tyco harness connector, which will have dry joints and will need to be resoldered, preferably with leaded solder!
Are the gauges easily changed or are you only removing needles?My speedometer stopped working and I have another cluster for parts? Any help is much apreciated. or is it the 34 way tyco connector causing it to mess-up you think
@@jacobsmooki2328 Hi. I only removed the needles, but once you remove the circuit board, the motors for the gauges can be desoldered from the board. I think you held down the trip reset button while turning on the ignition or something. Might be worth checking that just in case there’s a problem with the speed sensor on the car somewhere. I just had this on a 2007 Mondeo - the radio would switch off / not power on for no reason. Turns out it was the lack of the MM-CAN from the instrument cluster - dry joints on the connector. Disassembled the cluster, removed the lead free solder from the connector pads and resoldered with good old 60/40. No more issues.

I don't have flicking lights. My problem is that the outside temperature is not showing the red frost sign on the hand break light is on. The clicker for the turn signals is not on, but the outside lights do work. Centrol locking with the key won't work right and won't lock the doors manually, and the heated windscreen won't come on. But the car drives fine

While driving multiple error messages appear on my dashboard, it says engine failure, power assist failure, air pressure sensor failure.... the power steering stops working when this happens but the engine does not cut out. However, once I turn the engine off, it won't restart again. Any ideas?

My problems is. My battery drain out overnight even I not use my car. So I checked with multimeter and take out one by one fuse at passenger side. Then after I pull out Instrument cluster relay, automatically amphere reading of Multimeter drop significantly which is means Instrument cluster cause battery drain. But, after I put the fuse back, I cannot start the engine. Did I need to setting anything? Theres a bliking sign at dashboard meter ask me to setting. But I dont know how to do it.

Hi I have a problem with a 2010 1.6tdci Ford focus keyless start, sometimes it does not listen to the keys and wont start or power up the instrument cluster. if I disconnect the car battery and then reconnect it the car will start. But it will only be ok for a few days then the same problems persists. Is this the instrument cluster? We have replaced the wireless key module in the roof lining but still same problem. Obviously we have changed batteries in the key fobs.

My problem always starts with the tpms light. But then ill get other lights too.like the brake light or door ajar light,, oh ya and the AC always qits working. I can usually smack the dash and it goes back to normal. Slowly its been getting worse and more often
When i turn my headligjts on, my fuel guage goes to zero although i have fuel in the car. When i turn the lights off, the fuel guage is fine. After driving a while the car thinks i have no fuel and it says i need to service the car and the engine has a fault. Hi Ok I’m getting U1900 among MANY other error codes too! All of a sudden. I drove through a puddle and all the lights on my cluster started flashing, beeping and saying Engine Malfunction!? Cant really believe the puddle was a coincidence but also don’t see how it has caused this? Mechanic is a bit miffed and tried changing the clutch sensor but it hasn’t stopped “engine malfunction” “speed mode” “power steering mode malfunction” messages from beeping up Pedometers all fail, digits reset. Its horrible when it happens while driving and has been known to not start up again . Can water ride up and brake the cluster at all??? How has this happened so suddenly?? The car drives perfectly Codes that appear: PO231 PO571 P1936 P2121 P2122 U1900 P0231 P0571 P1260 Thanks for reading. I need my car and cant do without it for my job🤦🏻♂️
Hi, driving through the puddle could be coincidence, as we have seen all these faults being related to an instrument cluster fault before. However, it could also be problems with the wiring from the instrument cluster to the BCM, so we would recommend ruling any wiring faults out first before condemning the unit. Hi, one of the symptoms of this failure is the warning message 'reduced acceleration' showing on the cluster before all the gauges fail and the engine is put into limp mode.
My focus instrument cluster screen comes on at random in the night and stays on for a long period of time after the car is turned off. I was wondering if anyone had any idea if this is the cluster on something else Wong with the car already had to replace the battery as it kept going flat and don't want to get left stranded. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely terrible video. Yeh he’s right but most often it’s a fuse that’s gone. Go into the handbook guide and check which fuse. Swap it out for one with the same amp and test it

I actually carried out this procedure on a friend’s Focus last week and the car has been running perfectly since.
