I like these kind of videos that explain more in-depth info on vanguard to help improve one's gameplay

Guarding in Vanguard has such intricacy. Even after you get through understanding guarding efficiency, i.e. not overguarding, guarding early, there's always microdecisions to make in all games concerning WHAT to guard with. Should I guard efficiently and use this 10k g1, or is its effect more important, what is more valuable to win the game 2-3 turns later?
Such a cool part of the game

Limiting the damage taken in the early game to where it's just enough to spend on Grade 2 set-up plays, you can take those mid-game swings with the higher power or more pressured crits. The rule of thumb my playgroup talks about is in the early game, if you can no pass a vanguard with 1 card from hand, do it. Like calling a crit, front, or heal against a Grade 1 or Grade 2 VG. Then taking any rearguard that crosses that threshold. Situationally speaking as long as it doesn't screw up your ride or cost too many cards form your hand, guarding early is a good rule of thumb to allow the bigger swings to not hurt so much toward the end of the game.
I feel like a lot of decks that the meta players deem Tier 2 aren't as weak as they are made out to be just because too few people realize this.

I have a question. If my opponent's G3 / Persona / G4 VG attacks first, do I guard it and allow the Crits to be transferred to his Rear Guards? It will be a waste of my Shields when the Crits and Power boosts goes to my opponents' RearGuards.
I have no qualms to guard Rearguards alone since I know what power and Crits they will deal me.
