The intention was that you trade HA for increased damage received while attacking however the extra damage received while using Rakshasa katana is so small it's just a clear advantage over the other great katanas. I wouldn't be surprised if it got the damage penalty increased to 20-25% in order to balance it better.
What about the Death Knight's Longhaft Axe? Does it belong in the Great Axe Tier or in the Longhaft Axe Tier? And if the latter, does it get Hyper Bonuses while 1 handing?
@@Dr_Donald_Duck sorry, i should have made it clearer. Raks katana gets hyper armor bonuses on its 1h and 2h moveset. Longhaft axe does NOT get hyper armor bonuses on its 1h moveset. Deathknight longhaft axe has the same hyper armor values as the regular greataxe weapon classes
i've been using the sword lance for a while, and knowing it has a lot of hyperarmor on the stamp, sounds really nice, also for some reason the weapon has really high status build up, similar to colossal swords. do you think it will be a good "get off me" tool?, if you infuse it with, idk, frost?
I think that might instant proc frostbite if you lad both hits of the sweep. It would be a pretty good get off me tool for invasions. I hardly use sweep in invasions because you just dont get enough poise normally. With 500, you’re much less likely to be interrupted

Yeah, that weapon class got shafted real bad. Desperately needs at least halberd-tier hyperarmor and poise damage to be worth anything more than style points. It's not like it has huge damage either so I don't understand what this tradeoff was supposed to be.

Btw, mesmers assault gives you 500 poise health and reduces incoming poise damage by 50%. This means that you can withstand up to 1000 poise damage using this skill without the bullgoat talisman. 1333 with the bullgoat talisman. Essentially, you can out trade colossal weapons with it
Went back to check the older vid to see how many optiond I have for a poised-up greatshield. The previous video clarified that the Great Spears could retain their hyper armor even when weilded with one hand. Neither video expressly mentions the Heavy Thrusting Swords, it seems, except for Gaius' Sword-Lance. So I'm curious. Are Heavy Thrusters like Greatswords and only have hyper armor when 2 handed? Did Great Spears get nerfed and now you must 2 hand them for Hyper Armor to activate?
They never had hyperarmor when 1-handed. If you want to run a greatshield guard counter setup go with Rakshasa katana or mace since they both have 1-handed hyperarmor on their R2s.
At 6:45, you say that Great spears get 59 poise plus 35% reduction, yet at 9:14, you say they got 52 + 35% reduction, I'm curious to know what is the accurate statement here?
Hello,Sir. First I Apologies for my inexperienced English. This time I learned about this Poise formula and did some experiments with Mimic Tear. My armor Poise is 90 and I'm wearing bull goat talisman. I measured how much I could tolerate When I using GGS's Crouch Attack. According to the formula, the poise damage that the crouch attack on GGS can withstand is (90+90*0.75)*100/45*4/3=466.6. But Mimic Tear and I could withstand the GGS's Crouch attack at the same time, which has a poise damage of 665. Is this a specific specification for the Mimic Tear, or did I miscalculate something?
@@digndkdlel3765 mimic tear uses different poise damage and poise health because all those values count as PVE. Its also wildly inconsistent without reason or rhyme as well, as Rakshashas Weed Cutter does not stun when playing against mimic tear. Its best to test out poise health in pvp. The footage is used of mimic tear was mainly for broll but i made sure the statements made during the footage were correct before re enacting it with mimic tear
the only problem with rakas great katana is how much dmg u take since u take alot more dmg if u got it equipped, other then that its a fun weapon to use
Actually you don't, you only take more damage if you're in the middle of an attack and even then it won't cost you any trades given its monstrous damage and mostly thrust attacks. Not to mention it's a multiplicative increase meaning if you're wearing heavy armor it won't even be close to the 10% you would've gotten armorless.
I know is just being lazy to ask for it instead of do it myself, but what are the threshold of armor poise + weapon poise combinations to trade first hit with certain weapon (non aow).
@@DBelphegor if i were you i would wait a little while. There was this super great poise calculator we had in version 1.10. Right now it works but it needs to be updated to be accurate. It will save you a lot of work once its back up and running

@@mwsilva9193 only rakshashas great katana has hyper armor. The other great katanas dont have hyper armor on their normal attacks. However, dragonwound slash (just the weapon skill) has 300 poise on it.
The hyperarmor applied to light attacks, uncharged heavy attacks, running and jumping heavy attacks. It's just the poise value of any given weapon without further modifiers.
Hrmm out of the weapons listed, i think curved greatswords have the best shot at being “meta”. Their attack animations travel far and allow for continuous pressure slightly better than the other weapons

I've been running it with storm assault but yeah, the status buildup on it is gnarly as well so anu consecutive ashes will benefit too.

I think the light greatswords do less poise damage than the r2 that seals and staffs get.

All new weapon classes got pre patch 1.10 poise values. Beast Claws and Hand to Hand weapons won't stun anyone either.

If you google "elden ring motion values" you will find a massive spreadsheet with all the damage values, status, PvE poise and PvP poise.
I think jeenine recently uploaded a vid exploring those values, should come in handy although I haven’t gotten the chance to view it yet
