This guy is hilarious... Nothing better then watching car videos with abit of comedy 😂😂😂
Thanks mate, don’t forget to have a butchers through my other videos for more of the same type of dumb shit 😆
Man this is the most complete video on this issue repair
Hope it helps mate
Hi. Your clip was very helpful. I had the same symptom of loosing coolant from my 1.2 liter Clio and it was from the same place. Your clip was very clear and well explained. Thanks.
You’re welcome
You are a champion. Great detail of every step of the process. Thank you. 🙏
Thanks, hope it helped
I've got the same problem. So glad I came across this vid, by coincidence. Thank you.
Hope it helps 👍
My exact problem, thank you so much for taking the time to put this up
You’re welcome. Hope it helps!
Just got this problem.so thanks for the video. This is added to the squeaky suspension. The front brakes sound like a banshee chasing me. And for a car that uses so much plastic there is the rust. It's nice to see that Renault are solving the problem of all the plastic in the sea by sticking It in their cars . I had a Renault in 1990 and it's reassuring to know that they are still making the same crap with the same problems
All those are just design features. Absolutely hateful thing tbh.
Did the job today , your video was a great help .
If it helps anyone I lost 2 litres of coolant doing the job and the 3rd bleed valve is on the left hand side of the rad (looking at the car )
A Nissan gasket part will also fit too .
Brilliant, glad it helped!
Mate glad to see you use the exact same torque wrench as me cheers for the vid
Very accurate product.
Good job, mate.
I have same problem in Megane 1.2TCE 👌
Seems a pretty common issue on these engines.
Very helpful. I have exactly the same car & issue (the wife’s favorite car) lol 😅. You make it look easy. I’ll ask a mechanic to do what you did. Thank you.
Thanks, hope the video helps
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos I’m not doing it myself. I’ll leave it to the professional. Are you busy January?

@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos no worries. Have a lovely Xmas
The part is called a water outlet (£104), I made the mistake of ordering a thermostat housing which goes into the other side of the engine. Anyway I didn't have the confidence to fit it so my local garage did it for £60 labour. Also important to know that after you may think it's still leaking as the coolant level will drop and the excess coolant will be puddled under the panel beneath the car, the coolant level naturally goes down as the engine cools etc. Hope this helps someone
That could come in useful. I got the part off eBay which called it a thermostat housing, but on eBay I had the benefit of a picture to compare,.. which I didn’t look at properly and still got it wrong 🤷♀️
many thanks mate great stuff you saved me hours of work !
Glad it helped
I have a Renault Megane 1.2 TCe with exactly the same problem, I´ll try to fix with Nural 28 thanks to your video.
Good luck, and hope it helps you out
Did it work with Nural 28?
Thank this was my issues great video. Ps you can start car by having break pressed down. Saves clutch.
Glad it helped, and thanks. I’ll try that if I’m ever unfortunate enough to have to drive the shitter again.
Awesome video! Had the same issue with my Megane. Dealership sorted it. But seems to be loosing coolant after 6 months again.
Seems to be a common issue to be honest.

My clio 1.2 tce (which is very very similar) wasn't doing this. mine had excessive pressure in the cooling system which continued to be misdiagnosed by 2 different garages. I knew about the bleed for the air, and the correct coolant (massively important that bit) but mine was making the water in the coolant mix boil. this causes excessive pressure in the coolant system and eventually the expansion tank will explode, like mine did. I didn't get any warnings though. No HT on the dash, just a slight fluid loss. Turns out that my head gasket has been failing for quite a long time. possibly even up to 30,000 miles. the garage that eventually found it said that the gasket might have been 'mis seated' when the car was constructed in turkey.
They’re not unknown for head gaskets unfortunately. Pressurising coolant is usually a symptom of HG failure between the fire ring and water jacket, but not being bled up properly can give very similar symptoms. A sniff test can give a better idea, but with the way EGR coolers work on some cars even that can give a red herring these days.
I pay today 220 euros to resolv this problem in my 0.9 tce clio with 66000 klms
(Oficial dealer Lisbon/Portugal)
👍
Got a stepway with the same engine losing coolant I’m leaving it for a while having seen what a ballache it is! Did the Mrs fiat 500 thermostat housing the other week and it was a doddle in comparison 👍
They don’t make many new cars easy to work on anymore unfortunately 😔
I have the Sandero 0.9tce.. That part looks like it was meant for my car.. The part I got is not authentic renault but I couldnt find anything else.. China seems to assume that I dont need a thermostat for my region or something... you'll see the housing is actually 2 sections.. the part that mounts up to the engine.. and the the tail end bunch of pipe that has a pressure emergency break cap.. they join with 2 plates with another gaskett.. (not the hot plug, leave that cap alone, I think it has a steel rod that melts at critical temperatures) that assembly can be removed from the engine mounting to reveal a little cradle housing thats supposed to house the thermostat... mine opens to reveal one end, (the engine mount side) with half a cradle and the other half or cap side with that hollow redesighned to be flat.. so a thermostat cant fit, (unless you saw it in half down the middle.. haha..).. I suppose China kept the base part compattible in case I can still use my original cap/pipe complex.. So now Im left with trying to service and clean my old thermostat if I cant find a new one, at least the gasketts is new and so is the temperature sensor, that can be refitted on my old housing.. JUST BE CAREFULL.. allthough I think the car will run without a thermostat.. I was lucky to discover the turbo water pipe connection was blocked on the china part.. inside the tube end was a plastic cast injection port that didnt sever.. or I quess QA was not done on these so nobody popped it out... Could have ruined my day with a toasted turbo core... Good luck and thank you.. Maybe China was thinking.. you need your original cap complex to visit midas and let them sort through the sizes untill they find one.. so you get a temporary cap for free...
This was supposed to be a genuine part but think it came off eBay so 🤷♀️. That blocked but is something to watch out for, good job you noticed it!

What's the torque setting on the 10 milli bolts for the housing mate ?

Great video. I have some problems or similiar sympthoms. I have added few times coolant and after driving sometimes coolant smells right side of the car front. Can't see a leakage in engine or dripping under the car. How does in your case you find out the leak from? Same 0.9 tce engine also
It’s probably leaking really slowly and evaporating before it has time to drip. That’s the way this one was leaking. You need to look for coolant residue, like a pink crusty marks. It could be from the same place as this one but with the smell being where it is, could also be the radiator where the metal joins the plastic or even a coolant hose joint. Small leaks like this can be hard to find.
Thanks for response. I found the leak today, is the same thermostat housing that you had in the video. The coolant leaks were same spot over the gearbox. Thanks to you. Car is going to repairshop thursday morning for repairs.
👍
Hello there, any chance you could work on my Kadjar 1.2 petrol, I bought with few things like a radiator, condenser, air intake pipe and some other pipe/hose disconnected.

Hi! - do you remember the part number for the gasket?
No sorry, iirc it came from a local motor factors. Don’t think it was a genuine Renault part though.
I used part no.RE110624453R. Termostat housing gasket.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos So. I am doing this job as we speak. The RE001624453R part below works. Just wanna say thanks for saving one of the claps, the one where you PUSH and not PULL, that goes into the cabin heater.
Good god that engine likes to rattle and roll lol 😆
Great video and I understand that same bad engine is fitted to the Dacia.
I believe so. They do have issues, like most small turbo engines in modern cars seem to.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos Yeah I don't like TSi engines I think those little turbos cause more trouble than they are worth.
I have the honda jazz 1.3 i-vtec a bit underpowered but damned reliable like the Toyota I used to have!
@@Grizzly-b5x Honda Jazz go forever! Is it the CVT?
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos No its a 6 speed manual!
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos My brother had the 1.3 i-vtec Honda Civic back in 1990's and Other than adding a few electrics it's the same engine has in the modern Honda's.
We always got on well with the old Duratec Engines that Ford fitted on the Fiesta, Escorts and Orions, other than changing oil, spark plugs and filters, it was just a case of setting and gapping the tappets using the old Haynes Manual.
Good days when engines had less spaghetti and more room to work lol 😆
My brother now has a 5 series BMW got low oil pressure and apparently the plastic guides on the timing chain mechanism have crumbles as they do and blocked the oil sender, meaning the engine will need to be removed to do the job, garage wants £1200 for repair most of the cost being labour.
Stick to Japanese I think!
Did you lose much coolant doing the job mate ?
A couple of litres at most if I remember right. Not a massive amount but enough for it to need bleeding back up afterward.
Does that model have a radiator cap, if so do u fill the radiator before filling the expansion tank?
No rad cap that I saw but the tank is more of a coolant reservoir than a typical expansion tank, it’s pressurised with the coolant system and the coolant goes straight into the radiator from it rather than pushing into it when hot and sucking out of it when cold like a typical expansion tank.
Reason I'm asking is the missus has a micra 2018 but it has the same engine in it, was bought from a dealer, I'm a plant engineer/fitter, she said to me top the washer fluid up so I went to do it and I checked the oil and water while I was there but the coolant like just plain water so dipped it with my hydrometer was only reading -4 so need changed and replaced with 50/50 mix but couldn't find any vids on the car to get an idea of what sort of job it be
@@lewishope271 ohhhh. You could always go with the lazy method I did in my bmw in this other vid. Works with pretty much any car as long as it has bleed points.

@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos I'll have a watch thanks
my2015 kangoo has a leak around that thermostat housing area as well. leaking is coming thru 1 single bolt. so i just ordered a new gasket seal. should fix it. it actually wasn't leaking at all til i went to tighten the bolt.. thats wen it occured. if it aint broken dont touch it! lesson learned for me
😬 just makes sure to have a close look to make sure you’ve not cracked the plastic housing by tightening it when you change the gasket…
Would you now the part number and were you was able to get hold off the rubber seal please.
Sorry mate, I can’t even remember where we got it from tbh
Thank ok it looks like my leek was from one of the weird plastic rings on the pipe luckily I nicked a metal jubilee clip of the air hose. Took me ages trying to cut the plastic clip off. Just hope IAM not celebrating to early. Really enjoying the videos
Hey I have a 2016 Renault captur h4b engine 0.9, it was mixing oli and water in the water bottle, I changed the oil cooler. Than it bursted the water pipe from the engine to the car ac radiator I have changed both thermostat now it's only bowing cold air in all temperatures and the water bottle is very hot what can be the problem
Sounds like you may not have to bled up properly, or you potentially have a blown head gasket
What is the name of the part you changed and how do you bleed the system?
I just typed in thermostat housing on eBay and look for the right one, and got the wrong one lol. Bleeding the system is what I was doing removing the caps near the end on the side of the unit and on the inlet hose to the heater matrix. They look like tyre valve caps.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos Thank You
Nissan part #1106200QAB
Will this problem be covered under dealer's extended warranty?
I doubt it, most extended warranties aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on
That same seal leak problem was already on my -05 Renault modus 1.4
Seems a common issue on the plastic housings
Hi friend, can you explain or write down exactly which part you replaced or what is its name?
I just changed the housing gasket. I think it was listed as be thermostat housing gasket but I can’t find it on eBay now. Main dealers should be able to help off a microfiche is have thought
I believe these are the part number if someone else need them 110601073R, 110603082R.

After being at Renault, they changed a thermostat gasket... 300€ the joke.
I get home (10 km from the dealership) and the coolant is again at 0!!!!
I go back to Renault...
"We can't explain it" "It doesn't make sense"....
We go back to refill and I do a test... they put the car on a bench and when they lift it up and remove the caps from the chassis, about 15 litres of coolant fall to the ground!!!!
The liquid was going into the chassis! normally it goes into the passenger compartment, on the floor... but on this occasion it was going straight into the chassis and you could hear it falling down the inside of the driver's door.
Has this happened to anyone?
After the tremendous scare and damage, the mechanics told me at the Renault workshop:
"It's the first time we've seen something like this".
I go to the office to say that they charged me 300€ to leave it the same and they tell me "no, I needed that repair too".
And that they had to dismantle the whole car and the dashboard to change the radiator and we were already going to almost 1000€ with the labour because there are many hours of labour.
In the end I was able to take it to a trusted mechanic who told me that he doesn't understand why they changed the gasket if it's not up there?
They are going to try to bypass the radiator to see if it is still leaking or not and if not, we will have to dismantle the dashboard and change the radiator...
I'm thinking of complaining to Renault because paying 300€ for a bad diagnosis is out of the question.
A coolant leak that big, shouldn’t be that hard to find 🤔
Does Renault captur used two thermostat
It’s more of a junction pipe than a thermostat, other models that use the same engine use different set ups I believe though
Does anyone know the part number for this gasket ? Thanks .
I think I just got lucky as it was on eBay iirc, but I just had a look and can’t see any sold separately without the housing.
hi ,there is another purgecock at radiator!!!!
Thanks, must have missed that one. It bled up ok without it this time though.
May you please help me giving me the reference of the part? Thanks man! I'll subscribe just for it .
