This whole mess can be blamed on the NYC government. The people are so horribly displeased by the city government, that ANY time they accumulate in big numbers, there will be a riot. Partially from bad actors, partially those angry with NYC Gov., and partially from those thinking there'll be NO punishment (which is pretty much right on, for NYC).

I asked my parents what they would've done to me if I had done something like this as a teen. They said that they had no idea what they'd do to me, just that they'd know that, if I was involved in something like this, they'd have failed as parents.
