The mounting brackets of iKamper's awning are the best I've seen ever. But it's kinda confusing they are separated to pieces. I saw the similar design on Clevershade's awning too. Btw, these two awnings cost more than 4k bucks together holy moly.
@@NicholasInWild I agree they are pretty pricey but I would say that the Exoshell design with the aluminum casing does make it nice. It does keep it sleek looking and keeps it protected as well as makes putting away the awning a lot easier. Hopefully they bring down the price now that it’s already been out for a while.
Hello Sir, I have a Leitner rack set up as well. I have the Exoshell 270 and the L Brackets it came with. My question is if you are using the Leitner HD Awning brackets how do you hook the bottom of the awning box to the bracket. The Ikamper L bracket has a groove that allows the awning box to rest in giving it support. The problem I am having is securing the L Bracket to the Leitner cross member but the head of the bolt just spins around in the channel that is part of the Leitner design. Thank you for your help.
@@michaelschiotis2426 thank you for reaching out. I am very familiar with your situation as I had the exact same problem. What I did was take a long flat head screw driver and wedge it behind the square head bolt in the groove and lightly tap it with a hammer making it stiff so it won’t spin. Then tighten the bolt. Hopefully this will help you.
Hey I just purchased the 270, there’s not many install videos out there so I appreciate you doing this. Question, I just received the L Brackets in the mail. (Awning comes tomorrow.) Looking at your video did you use those L Brackets? It looks like you left them on the table and installed the awning? Thanks!
Thank you 🙏……So the awning does come with its own universal L brackets but I used the one that is made for my bed rack by leitner. The universal brackets should work just fine with most setups.
Nice awning, one of the few batwings that stow away in a hard case. It only comes in left hand mounted version. I think iKamper is missing out on a fairly large camper van market in the US. It looks large enough to cover the passenger sliding door and rear doors of a short wheelbase van. I'd buy one if there was a right hand version.
I agree. I think they’ll eventually make one if they see enough people are requesting it and the market calls for it. This was probably a trial run on this new awning design just to see how it does on sales.
Did I say mount to leitner brackets?….ill have to watch the video again but if I did I meant leitner rack system🤣😂😅. I used the leitner brackets for this set up because it made install easier for my set up.
@@FindingJay I know you mounted the awning to Leitner bracket, but how? Only T bolts from the ONLY T-slot rail of Exoshell? Most other awning branches have 2 t-slot rails on the back, but Exoshell has only one rail and at the bottom it has edge for the bracket to hook /clip on
@@americapride oh….yes you right. I used the leitner awning brackets and what I did was use all the original hardware from iKamper’s awning and drill out the brackets a bit because the bolts were to big for the hole.
@@FindingJay Jay, you are super cool to help me out on the brackets! I am your subscriber now. I had viewed into your other previous helpful videos too. Wish your RUclips channel growing up great. Thanks much again, bro!
You’re absolutely right. These are very expensive but in all fairness they are more convenient to use and they look better. I had 2 other brands and not having the zippered covers is definitely a plus. Ive been using these a while now since the install and the edge it has compared to others is how fast I can open it and put it away but your right…..for this price it would have been nice if it came with the walls or at least built in lights. I installed my own lights on another video though for fairly cheap so I guess it’s not a big deal but something more would have been nice.
I was really digging the 80s montage music, your rig is really turning out awesome, way cooler than a camper
Thank you 🙏
Thats the ultimate tailgating truck. Great job Finding Jay.
Thank you 🙏

Nicely done Jay!!! Awesome awning. Looks great on the truck
Thank you Omar

Do you still have your ikamper L brackets? I can buy them from you… I am looking for another L bracket to secure my exoshell 270.
I do have them. Send me an email (jaytyebarber10@gmail.com) and I’ll reply with my number.
@@FindingJay I just emailed you…please let me know. Thanks

Looks amazing, when you going to take it out to the woods or lake?
I am ready for a test run but it will be without the camping accessories because I haven’t received them yet. Hopefully within the next week or two.
It’s wrinkly and not taut but I like the hardshell case.
The hard shell is definitely great because it protects the awning and also makes it easy to pack and unpack as well as looks much nicer over all.
It's not tightened all the way that's why
My big problem with i kamper is the black color the worst color to camp in desert
I’ve heard the same thing but I will say that there material seems to be a bit lighter than others I’ve used in the past.
Overpriced!! For $1800 better have lights included and the walls! The walls cost you another $1300!! 3100 for the entire setup! No thanks!
