Joni Eareckson Tada's Journey as an Artist and Quadriplegic

- After her diving accident in 1967, Joni Eareckson Tada had to learn how to live life as a quadriplegic. Breaking her neck changed the way she handled everything, including brushes.
It was Joni's occupational therapist who taught her to write, type, and draw holding pencils between her teeth. And when she got out of the hospital, she kept at it. Joni learned to hold paintbrushes in her mouth, opening the doors for her to create again! Since then Joni has applied the artistic talent that God has given her to glorify him through her artwork.
1 Peter chapter 4 says, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others.” For decades, Joni has inspired and encouraged countless people to rise above their circumstances, just as she has done, by the grace of God.

How beautifulJodi,Thankyou for sharing with us
Joni, I purchased one of your drawings when you came to Indianapolis, IN. It was a fisherman’s head. I have been following you for about 50 years. I have our almost 40 year old daughter also following you. We both were saved at the ages of five and her Daddy and my husband was 20. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it was and continues to be for you. I’m so happy that you have always been in God’s hands and He will continue to carry you through this journey till we all meet again in our Heavenly home. Joni, God be with you till we meet again!
Mahalo nui loa Joni for your encouraging words about our heavenly Father and the artistic gifts He gave you and your father 🙌🏽

What a beautiful illustration of our Heavenly Father!!!!❤
I witnessed your amazing talent as a child. You came to Southside Christian School in Indianapolis Indiana between 1972 and 1976. You spoke to us and then drew a beautiful picture for us. You were and still are an inspiration to me and millions of others. I've looked back to that day 1,000s of time throughout my life. You inspired my art and my faith. May God continue to watch over you and bless you.❤❤❤
You are so amazing to me I have to tell me so if I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to be upset or anything because you are so Grand in my eyes your perseverance is unwavering.. bless you Joni,

What a story, brings you to tears.
God bless you, Joni.
Such a wise, beautiful and lovely lady who inspires me greatly.
Dear Joni,
In the same way you love to paint, my father learnt me to love music. Since he played the violin, I also wanted to play the violin just as he did, when I was 12. After one year I changed that for the piano. Tragically my father died at a traffic accidence when I was 17, but his example left an indelible impression with me that influenced my whole life since then.
Greetings from br. San
that is amazing! Glory to Jesus!
Be blessed
Your artwork is so beautiful, Joni, and reflects the love of Christ.
Your art is so precious to me! I can feel GOD'S presence in your cards!👀👩🦽💞✝️✝️
I had no idea you are an artist! How absolutely marvelous. I enjoy a few different disciplines of art. And for me it's liberating to express the mysterious forces of creativity. And it's satisfying in my soul. How fortunate we are to share in the traits of our Father in Heaven! And I am glad to know this about you Joni!❤

My favorite print of yours Joni is a Christmas scene of the 3 wise men bringing gifts to and kneeling before the newborn King, yet all you could see was the bright glow coming from the Manger. It is no longer in print, however some day soon I wish to have a copy, believing by Faith for this. GOD Bless you and Ken.
Amen!!
Wow
Lovely painting.
So beautiful ❤😊
Beautiful, work do, so inspiring you are !
Back in 1976, I stood behind Joni at a JESUS festival in Pennsylvania at the book tent, where she was demonstrating her drawing and selling her book. I was a 12 year old aspiring artist. Hardly anyone was there at that time as most of the attendees were listening to the main speaker of the day. She drew a beautiful Charcoal pencil sketch with a bird flying over a house on a hillside and wrote "Those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles". When she finished, I was SO mesmerized that I said very softly under my breathe "ohhhh that's sooo prettyyyyy......!" As I was standing RIGHT behind Joni, she looked over her shoulder and said "Would you like to have it?" I don't think I could even speak to say yes but nodded my head, and when her assistant ripped the drawing from the sketch book, handed it to me, and with my barely audible "oooohhhhhh THANKKKK YOUUUUU!!", I am certain my feet never touched the ground as I raced back to our campsite to show my parents!!! I've treasured that drawing all these years, and recently had it properly archivally framed and gave it to my youngest adult daughter, who had mentioned how much she loved it ❤
This was so heartwarming and also intresting❤
It's good that you're wable to do that!! I have a disability too, so I know how hard it is!!
Your an amazing artist! Wish I had your talent my friend xo
